The Umarex Gauntlet SL PCP Air Rifle is the eagerly-anticipated updated side lever version of the airgun that helped set a new standard for affordable accuracy and power. This model has the necessary power for pest control and small game hunting.
The improvement shooters will appreciate the most is the larger air tank, with 24 cubic inches of volume, and higher fill and regulator pressure. These increases lead to more shots and more power compared to the older model.
The new sidelever action features a large knurled handle with and makes cocking easier than ever! The all-weather synthetic stock has been redesigned to make it lighter and more compact. Despite the added power and shots, the air rifle is now quieter when shooting due to a four baffle design that reduces the sound of a shot by 8 dB over the original Gauntlet.
For adding a scope, the Gauntlet SL features a picatinny optics rail, and there are also M-LOK slots on both sides and the bottom of the forearm for mounting accessories such as lights, lasers, and bipods. Things I would have changed:It greatly needs a moderator! This thing is REALLY loud! Subjectively, on par with a 22 WMR.
What others should know:It's big and it's heavy. This is my first PCP after a long history with mostly springers, and I might not buy another. Spring-piston airguns are just so much easier to live with.

i have tried a few slugs but find 18 to 23 grain pellets more accurate. I use JTS pellets mostly because they are consistant. I hunt out to 75 yards and have great kill results.
Can the .22 model handle slugs?
Yes in all the different calibers from .22 up to the .30.
Yes ! I suggest that the weight be less than 28 grains

A step up from the original G2. Cocking and chambering is much easier with the side lever. I have the .22 model, and it is dead accurate and hard hitting with the Zan alloy slugs and the FX Hybrids. Shot count and power are insane. Getting 1 inch or less groups at 125 yards after mounting a Monstrum 2-10x30 Banshee MPVO. I have Hajimotos power tune kit installed and his breech work done.
Things I would have changed:Better Magazines. Will be ordering some from Hajimoto Productions
What others should know:Excellent starting PCP rifle.
