As good as this rifle looks in the online pictures, it looks even better in one's hands! No complaints about the scope or the scope mounting. Very well packed and arrived in very good condition. Ergonomics are great and feels very natural when brought to the shoulder. Very, very accurate at 40 ft as I 'm in the basement just running pellets through to break it in. The rifle weighs right at 11 lbs with the scope, but it doesn't feel that heavy. The balance point is in the middle of the forestock and I naturally find it when I bring it to my shoulder.
Things I would have changed:This is just splitting hairs, and more of a wish than a gripe. Since I'm a bit taller and larger than the average Joe, it would be nice if there was a kit/option for backstrap inserts for the pistol grip and also to lengthen the pull on the stock.
What others should know:After about 250 shots, I started to shoot through the 3/4" plywood behind my target. Definitely a keeper!

Nice ergonomics
Things I would have changed:Scope. It would zero because both pots had been run out.
What others should know:Shoots about 1 inch groups out of the box. Break in is 500 to 1000 pellets. I've got 750 to go but the pump is no longer stiff

Can it be uncocked after you cocked?
Could a gas piston (like the one in Beeman's RX models) replace the spring piston in this model? I've been trying to find a fixed barrel air rifle that is powered by a good gas piston instead of a spring. I think that combination could produce another high accuracy rifle among the models requiring one crank per shot. I'm brand new to this sport (have only been reading about it thus far) and looking to buy my first air rifle in the under $600 range. I haven't even fired my first shot yet, but I'm already in love with the FX line. I just don't wish to pay that much for a plinker.
There is not a gas piston that will fit this particular air rifle at this time.

Accurate, I pulled a couple patches through the barrel, sighted it in and I was putting 20 shots through 1 hole "1/2 inch" at 27 yards with super dome.
Things I would have changed:Get rid of the plastic butt pad and put in the adjustable or rubber butt pad from the beech stock. The synthetic stocks trigger pull is to short for me compared to the beech stock. I ordered a Bisley Adjustable BUTTPLATE from across the pond to increase the trigger pull and it's also a nice looker (it match my HW97 stainless finish)
What others should know:This rifle likes the JSB EXACT and Heavy. I also tried the Superdome, Meistekugeln and the supermag pellets and they're all one hole accurate at 27 yards. The FTT in 4.50 is also very accurate except for a few flyers due to loose pellets and sometimes oversize pellets in the tin. Ditto with the cheap crosman premier 7.9 and 10.2 from the can. This is my second HW97 from Pyramyd Air and both have barrel droop that will take your scope adjustment close to the elevation limit at 10 meters. Fixed it by ordering a beeman 1 piece adjustable mount for i inch scope & two piece adjustable mount for 30mm scope . My 1st one is beech stocked, and I suspected it might have a barrel droop being it refurbish and it did. Both are very accurate out of the box and quieter than both of my vortek R9. Out of the box, the .22's are less twangy and have less vibrations than the .177's. I was tempted to drop in a vortek kit to get rid of the vibrations but since its shooting so good. I'm going to wait on.
