I bought one of these for my wife from my cousin it was new so we came together on the price & 1250 Crosman Pointed Pellets . The Surge shoot very accuratley for a $100 kit I just love the stock & where Umarex Put the saftey Much better than the Fuel Or Octane This little rifle shoots very tight grups at 20 yards. As fas as i am concerned it a better rifle than the Octane I bought one here & the saftey broke on it just after a few day so i returned it for another one & it just wouldn't group at all I even tried 2 different scopes that i KNOW that are true & put the one that came with the Octane on her Surge & it shot a very tight group & the scope i put on the Umarex did the exact same thing we tried 5 different types & weights of pellets NO MORE OCTANES FOR ME .But the wife's Surge is a good little shooting rifle
Things I would have changed:Nothing really it ia a good entry .177 cal for my wife until she out grows it & then we will choose another rifle to suit her skills as the develop
What others should know:The Umarex Serge is a good entry level for a new air gunner I would recommend it for a first gun .

Acurracy, power, stock.
Things I would have changed:Maybe factory loctite the screws that hold the gun to the stock.
What others should know:This is an excellent gun, at 20 yards (my zero) a dime is an easy hit. So far I've bagged 4 squirrels using the guns favorite crosman premier hollow point 7.9 grains. Best value

what is the thickeness of the barrel
Why doesn't the trigger work I just bought this today
Is the trigger stiff/unmoving? The gun may be ON SAFE. Are you pulling the trigger, but nothing is happening? Maybe the barrel wasn't cocked completely, before returning to firing position. A couple thoughts...
Can open sights be mounted on this rifle? Thanks Ron
It appears from the pix it has plugs in the rear sight screw holes, so I'd assume you just need a rear sight from a misc Diana 34 clone, which this is. For the front I'd just make something and glue or screw it on. You can cut the blade from a regular sight and glue or screw it to the brake, make a blade, or a bead as Paul said, or just use a small screw and grind off the head and exposed threads. Or remove the brake and glue on a regular sight meant for that type gun. I'm sure a ton of people with misc types of that gun (Ruger Blackhawk for example) that have removed their sights to use a scope, but otherwise Umarex should have 'em.
It could be done if you know how to mount a front bead on the muzzle brake. There are a lot of rear sights that will mount to the rear dove tails.
No, they cannot

The rifle itself is very accurate and has plenty of power for small game. My rifle likes crossman dome pellets and will stack ten of them into a quarter sized group at twenty-five yards, at fifty yards the accuracy is still pretty good and you shouldn't have problems with body shots on squirrel sized game if you are a good marksman. Also this rifle isn't quite as hold sensitive as other springers that I have shot which is really nice for hunting. Overall I don't know of a better gun for the money.
Things I would have changed:Locktite the screws holding the stock on as others have said. Also replace the scope with one a bit better when you get the chance as the one that comes with it is decent but not great.
What others should know:his gun produces between 16 and 17 ft/lbs of energy with my best results coming from the 10.5 grain crossman domed pellets averaging 840 fps. Make sure you clean this rifle before firing it for the first time. Try a bunch of different pellets because it took a while to find one that it liked.
