See manual
One of the easiest-to-use night vision monoculars on the market.

Our editor wrote up our description for this device by reading the plain English manual, which is not filled with technical jargon, confusing terms, exploded views and diagrams that look like you're preparing for an invasion, or lengthy discussions and "what ifs."

If you just want something you can start using right away, this is it. You do have to charge the battery for 10 hours before the first use; but after that, you're home free. In fact, the buttons and settings on this Hawke night vision device are so intuitive, you may never bother to read the manual. If ease-of-use is tops on your list for a night vision device, you've just found the answer to your quest.

Things I liked:

The unit looks good. It is light weight and has a nice feel to it. But it simply does not work.

Things I would have changed:

In the box there was a spare battery and a battery cover. That was a nice touch. It turns out it was necessary as one of the batteries was DOA. I charged it overnight as required but when I turned on the unit I got the low battery warning and the unit turned off in about 1 minute. The second battery was better. The charger connector needs to be fiddled with to get the unit to charge. Good thing there is an indicator light. Photos of the unit cleverly imply the unit has a picatinny rail mount on the bottom. It does not. It has a 1/4 - 20 mounting screw hole that does not attach to anything other than an old tripod. I made a mount myself that would attach to a weaver rail but this monocular is so bad I can not use it. The SD card is not removable nor upgradable. It is internal to the unit and cannot be changed. The size is not listed anywhere in the spec. book, but it is only 4 GB - a fossil already. I would like the unit to actually be useful in low light conditions. It's not

What others should know:

The image quality and light amplification is much worse than the 10 year old first generation analog unit. This is useless. I can see much better in the dark with my standard binoculars. Yes, there is light amplification and yes the IR light does work but the pixelation and video noise is so great you cannot use it. Junk. This is the first time I have purchased a product from PA that I regretted. I will stick to only buying air guns from PA.
