What are Rifle Scopes?
A rifle scope is one of the most important upgrades for improving accuracy, extending effective range, and increasing confidence behind the trigger. Whether you're hunting, target shooting, or dialing in at long distances, the right scope helps you see more, aim faster, and shoot with precision.
We carry a wide range of rifle scopes for all types of firearms---from air rifles and rimfires to high-powered centerfire hunting and tactical rifles. Each scope is built with features to match your shooting style, including adjustable magnification, precise reticles, parallax adjustment, and rugged durability.
How Rifle Scopes Work
A rifle scope uses magnified lenses and a reticle (crosshairs or dots) to help you align your shot at various distances. As you look through the scope, the lenses bring distant targets into clear view while the reticle provides an aiming point.
Most scopes feature:
- Variable or fixed magnification
- Windage and elevation turrets
- Parallax adjustment for improved accuracy
- Illuminated or non-illuminated reticles for different lighting conditions
Some scopes are optimized for specific use cases, like air rifle scopes with recoil-rated internals or tactical scopes with fast turrets and BDC reticles. The key is finding a scope that fits your rifle platform and your goals in the field or on the range.
Air Rifle Scopes
What makes a scope rated for air rifles? It is designed to handle the vibration and double recoil effect of a Springer. Spring piston and gas ram air rifles have recoil motions that push forward when you pull the trigger and release the piston, then back as the piston relaxes. This double recoil will play havoc with an optic that isn't designed to handle it. For this reason, we recommend never using a firearm scope on an air rifle. All of the scopes listed here can withstand the extra vibration and double recoil of a Springer.
Whatever scope and scope accessories you buy from Pyramyd AIR, you can rest assured it is well-made and will last you for years or until you want to upgrade.
