air rifle is for serious shooting. Field target, hunting, punching paper targets, shooting spinners and plinking are all perfect for the Talon SS...because it does everything so well! The easy-to-use power-adjust wheel takes your rifle from 400 fpsFeet per second, usually written f.p.s.

Things I liked:When I first opened the box it looked very efficient and useful and it was very light weight to which I liked a lot. The easy mounting was nice too. Trigger pulled clean and pretty sharp too. And I mounted an Airforce 4-16x50 AO scope and got the bipod to. Both accessories are pretty good quality. The internal shroud seems to word pretty efficiently but not too great. It dampness the echo to about nothing but the hammer creates the most noise. And I do like how u can customize the gun with new caliber barrels and etc.
Things I would have changed:The butt pad is pretty uncomfortable even for a piece of plastic and I didn't like the pistol grip and forearm grips at all. Especially considering that the pistol grip was hollow inside was pretty terrible. And it took awhile to break the gun in which Crossman Premiers, I got about 2 inch groups at the beginning and narrowed it down to about 3/4 of an inch at 40 yards. So the accuracy was impressive to me after I broke it in.
What others should know:For the money I think this is a good investment for sure, with a good scope and bipod this gun can be a very good squirrel gun or anything up to coons up to about 30 yards. I would buy this gun over again if I could. Send it over to talontunes.com and they will fix it up real nice for you and turn this into your dream rifle.

Things I liked:Made in the good old USA, and Texas to boot! An amazing airgun. Very well made. On par with my better firearms. Dead accurate. At 20 yards with AF 4x16 50 scope most of my first groups were under .25". This is the easiest loading airgun I have as the breach is wide open. Can cock and insert new pellet in under 1 second.
Things I would have changed:Safety is pretty loosey-goosey and requires hand be dedicated to un-safeing the weapon. Your shooting finger will not do it easily or reliably. By necessity, the scope has to sit high. This is because the butt-stock is inline with the breech and barrel and you need eye alignment. Would be nice if design change could be made to lower butt-stock in relation to rest of rifle.
What others should know:In part, because your scope has to sit so high, you will need to carefully learn how much to hold over/ under when sighting on a target. I sighted my Talon SS to hit center when holding over 1.5" at 10 yards, .5" at 20 yards, dead on at 30 yards, .5" low at 40 yards... Once you learn ranges and pellet flight, you can nail crows in the eye at 35 yards, or in the head at 50.

Things I would have changed:An option to disengage 'auto-safety' for faster followup shots and stealthy hunting... clicking safety(off) is noisy. Air pressure gauge built-into the air tank would be useful.
What others should know:Convert this thing to a 24 inch barrel(.22) increases power...bigtime. With my ss barrel-swap to 24" w/ 21 gr.kodiak pellets, here's my chrono results @ power level #07 for thirty-five shots, in fps(feet per second);
1-936,2-952,3-964,4-969,5-944,6-954,7-944,8-944,9-929,10-909,11-928,12-940,13-924,14-913,15-925,16-910,17-931,18-935,19-938,20-927,21-921,22-penetrated 2x4,23-934,24-922,25-940,26-927,27-917,28-903,29-908,30-915,31-penetrated 2x4,32-915,33-906,34-883,35-874. Look closely at the numbers(fps)... that's not a 14-grain lightweight pellet. And yes, it really did easily go right through 2x4 wood after all those shots!!! Spring pistons can't measure up to PCP's.

What others should know:If you want higher fps and a heavier pellet and thus more fpe you can buy a longer barrel. But then it won't have the end cap to lessen the noise. If noise is not a problem then go for the 18" or 24" barrel that swaps out in about 5 minutes.

What others should know:You will not be dissapointed with this rifle. Mine is .22 cal and it blasted right through 3/4" plywood at 25yds like nothing. That is as far as I've tried it at this time. This is with the 12" barrel. It truly is almost silent. Asside from a slight click like a power stapler. I only hear the pellet hitting the target. If you have got backyard pests. This rifle will quickly and quitely solve your pest problem.

Things I would have changed:Nothing. This thing is great.
What others should know:I got mine in .177 ss version on co2- also purchased the manual pump and hpa tank. Shoots Kodiaks fast measured at 30ft from the muzzle with ProChrono pw setting 3 818-840 for over 30 shots. On co2 its pretty cool as well. beeman FTS at the muzzle measured 640down to 585 for over 150 shots. Very accurate on both air and co2.If youre used to the heft and recoil associated with powerful sping air rifles- forget it. Had a real tough time putting it down since the FedEx truck left. The manual pump is great- on you first fill -take your time- you'll get there- it will really fill to 3000psi.-I have a chrono- if you dont be careful the .177 with 12" barrel can deliver some serious energy - even though it is relatively quiet- be mindful of your backstops and traps. For those with the how quiet question - on co2 the ss in .177 is only slightly quieter -than on hpa at a full fill- that is with the pw set between 1.5 and 3 - AirForce makes great guns.

What others should know:I bought my talon ss air rifle a few months after I bought my Sumatra carbine. When I was looking for a second air rifle extreme power for long distance shooting wasn't the key concern anymore. I wanted something that could be shot all day long with out complaints from people in the surrounding area. Another feature I wanted was an air rifle that could be broken down, put into a duffle bag and comfortably fit into my car. The first time I shot the talon ss I was not expecting the power and accuracy it had. The talon allows me to shoot single hole groups that can be covered completely by a nickel at 40-45 yards and groups that can be covered by a quarter at 50-55 yards(jsb exacts and Kodiaks) . As for the power of the talon, before I got the talon my back yard was infested with woodchucks. They were eating everything and tearing up my lawn. The wood chucks liked to hang out in the back of my yard which is any where from 55 to 60 yards away and lay in the sun. It turns out 55-60 yards away is not far enough with the talon ss. Around a month after I got my talon I did not have a wood chuck problem any more. I never had to take a follow up shot because of the talons accuracy and power. I suggest this rifle to anyone who wants a cheaper, quiet, pre-charged air rifle that is under 30 ft lbs (talon ss is roughly 26 ft lbs). The Talon ss is more accurate than my Sumatra carbine and quieter. Don't doubt the power don't doubt the hype this is one great air gun. I forgot to mention that I have recently bought a .25cal barrel for it and a gun that I thought couldn't get any better did. I am around 55-60 ft lbs at the muzzle for now sure to be more soon. I'm sure woodchucks, crows and squirrels are fair game out to 90 yards now maybe further, I can't wait to test it on a walk through the woods in the summer.
