Mendoza's Dual Safety Trigger sets a new standard in shooting safety and refined trigger-pull. This fantastic, non-adjustable, 2-stage trigger breaks cleanly at 2.5 lbs. so you can concentrate on the important aspects of accuracy and not on a difficult, heavy trigger-pull.
This gun is made the way guns used to be made 50 years ago--from steel and wood. Just the way you like it!

Wish my .22 and .44 open sight guns had this feature, (maybe I can add it with after market parts from Mendoza!). This gun would look like a huge deer rifle to anyone from 5-10 feet away, it is old fashion quality. Things I would have changed:So far there is nothing I would change! What others should know:Well, this is my 2nd air gun (first one was when I was a teenager and it was a Benjamin pump up) and I am over 50 now. I am really into guns and have been all my life since growing up on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country, it comes second nature to you. I know guns and this one is a gem. I can hit anything from 10 ft to 75 yards and nail it dead center. I bought it just to do some plinking for fun during the week since I cant discharge a real gun in the city limits. This gun will be one of your favorites if you but it.

It will diesel for about 500 shots or more and afterwards it just puts'em where want'em. The impact of the power compared to the tech force 99 is far better. Shooting into a catalog at 15 meters the Avenger 1100 will impact 25 more pages than the Tech Force 99 .22 cal. Don't get me wrong both rifles are fun to shoot, accurate and great value for the money, but the reality is the Avenger split 25 more pages in the catalog I shot into (did the test 3 different times). However, don't know if it matters, I have shot about a 1000 pellets through the Avenger and only about 200 in the Tech Force 99 so far. I've had my Avenger for about a two weeks now and my Tech Force 99 Premier about 5 days ( I should receive the Tech Force 89 Contender within the next 3 days). I am waiting on my Tech Force 89 Contender .22 cal to arrive and am anticipating comparing it to the Avenger as far as power (the accuracy can't get any better on my Avenger). All comparison was made shooting the .22 Super H Point 14.2 gr. Things I would have changed:complimentary pellets and a scope would be nice ... hahahaah. i definitely want to put a scope on this baby! What others should know:Like I said, It will diesel for sometime (just as I was told by Scott that it would before I rec'd it) and it's a good ideal to clean the barrel after each 100 pellets. The gun is made for adults who practice safety in high power air rifles.

Beeman pellets seem to work well in the gun, especially the Kodiak Extra Heavy.

Things I liked:The best air rifle I've ever had. Perfect trigger. Things I would have changed:Cheap plastic sights. Front one is acceptable, but the rear is a bad joke. What others should know:Replace the rear sight with anything you can afford; Mendoza sells good ones for $20 and above.

Things I would have changed:Nothing What others should know:After reading reviews of the Avenger and other Mendoza rifles, Ilearned that these guns prefer fatter .22 pellets. That's why when you watch Paul's video review you'll notice that he gets higher velocities with the heavier pellet. The heavier pellet in his test had a better seal in the barrel. Based on one of the recommendations I tried the RWS 14.2 grain Super-H-Point pellet. The barrel stopped smoking with the RWS pellets and groups became much more accurate and consistent. I don't have a chrony, but I wouldn't be surprised if velocities increased. If you're experiencing a lot of dieseling, detonations or more than one "flier" in 20 shots, then try the Super-H-Point or other "fat" .22 pellets.

Previously owned (and returned to other store) Gamo Shadow Sport would only make that shot about 20% of my attempts. I fired the GAMO every day for over a week and was never happy with it. The first day and every day with the Avenger is a delight. I will try to sight it in better after I empty another tin, but I'm not sure it's needed. From 25 yards I aim about two clicks high, and as I step back towards 50 yards I lower the crosshairs slightly. Horizontal accuracy is not an issue, and at 50 yards I aim dead-center and it delivers. It's a joy to put a .22 pellet cleanly in the bullseye at that range. My 9 year old son shoots a .22 Benjamin air rifle, open sights, that is youth sized. Last weekend we had a ton of fun blasting away from 30 yards at water balloons and ancient pop cans (still full, not empties!) from grandmas forgotten stockpile. My rifle came with a tag that showed the fps at 983 and trigger pull at 1.21 lbs, from Mendoza. The power is great and the trigger is smooth and light. I also enjoy the automatic safety that engages when the gun is cocked. What I like the most is the accuracy. I can't speak to grouping size, that's not my style. I will say that within 50 yards any target the size of a baseball or bigger is in trouble. Things I would have changed:Nothing, really. It does take some muscle to cock the rifle, but that is expected at this power level and I consider it a safety feature. My children are trained in the handling of guns and knives, but I still won't leave this for them to use unattended. I did purchase a trigger lock, but the fact that neither of them can cock the rifle only adds to the safety of the rifle.
Breakbarrel cocking with a bolt-action to chamber the next pellet, does anything like that exist? Maybe with a 5 or 10 shot clip? Seriously, this gun is a solid performer, as the local skunk, starling, and magpie populations are aware. What others should know:Do your homework, research different rifles until you settle on one or two. Then use different websites to compare all the reviews you can find to help you make a wise purchase. I bought my first (and last) GAMO at a local store on a whim and learned the hard way. After getting frustrated I checked the reviews and discovered countless others were just as frustrated with the same issues. Had I done my homework I never would have made that purchase. I did my research and am very satisfied with my Avenger.

This was remedied by cleaning the barrel which was very, very dirty. I used my .22 rimfire cleaning kit, but I was told to not use any petroleum based solvents or oil. I'm told to only use slicone chamber oil on spring piston airguns. The cleaning brought back the accuracy and the detonations have stopped. All is good for now.

Change the safety from its current config. to a flip switch type, either on or off. this will speed up repeated firing, much like most other conventional pistons and rifles What others should know:A good, I mean GOOD, scope on this rifle with easy adjustiblity built in would be spectacular, unlike the GAMO scope which is a total looser.

Only plastic that I see on it is part of the front sight, the spacer between the stock and the rubber pad, and lastly the washer thing at the rear of the piston. Things I would have changed:Put a sixth star choice in the "Value for money" slot, make it available with synthetic stock. I read the reviews prior to buying this rifle ans I have to say that some have it wrong when they say it's easy to cock. Not so. Although I'm 69 years old I'm far from weak. I am used to it now but my son who is 30 says it's a hard pull. He has a Gamo Whisper which is really easy to pull. The trigger on the Avenger is absolutely great. I like the fact that it's a double trigger so you know exactly where yo are. Very easy. The Gamo's have a terrible trigger for such a nice rifle. Accuracy is about average, maybe better than some. Too soon to tell since I've only had it for a month. Good at short distances and I can usually put a few on top of each other. The breach is very tight and as some said, lighter weight pellets fall out if you're not careful. Not terribly loud. Sometimes it sounds like a 22. Things I would have changed:Nothing as long as you know that it's not easy to break the barrel. What others should know:Regarding pellets, I have found that most are fairly accurate. I prefer the Crossman heavy's and the pointed lights work fine but tend to fall out unless you point the barrel down. But the heavy Crossman are very consistent. I wish I had bought the 22 caliber but as they say, hindsight is great. I can't say enough about Pyramyd Air. They are great to work with. I may update this as time goes on.

The low price is no indication of the quality that you are getting. The fiber optic sights are excellent and the accuracy has been surprising. Cocking effort is quite easy and the double sided safety makes operation so smooth that my wife (who the gun was purchased for) was shooting like an old pro rather quickly. Things I would have changed:The chamber is loose compared to my RWS 460. You have to point the barrel down in order to close the barrel to the receiver or the pellet's skirt will be crushed. I woiuld like to see a mount that allows the use of the Leaper's base that compensates for barrel droop. What others should know:I used the UTG 11mm to Weaver mount and UTG 1" high see-thru rings to place my Center Point 3X9X40 scope on this pellet rifle. I could not see the excellent open sights because the bell on the scope blocked the view through the rings. This rifle dieseled and burned off the oils in the air chamber for about 200 pellets. It can be disconcerting to have an excellent group going and then a loud pop and the pellet hits much lower... caused by the burning oils. That kinda eases off after several hundered pellets. This rifle shoots right with my RWS 460 at 10 meters...frequently giving one hole groups. Both the Beeman FTS double gold pellets and the RWS pointed tip pellets gave the best accuracy. I have an excellent selection of pellets and I tried them all and those two were the best. You might want to get a pellet seater to make loading in the loose chamber a bit easier.

What others should know:Totally blown away by the way this rifle shoots. Yes, the spring vibration has a kick, but this is a springer so you learn to adjust to it.

I love this rifle and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive but high quality air rifle. Also, my gun did not come with the sling swivel stud that appears in the photo. I confirmed it with PA that it "does not" come with it.

Things I liked:Excellent sights, good power, especially with heavy match pellets. I like the size and balance. Accuracy great, using the heavy pellets. I bought one of these for my Son in Law, six weeks ago and liked it so much I had to purchase one for myself as well! Things I would have changed:Nothing. What others should

Things I liked:Wacky Wayne again, just got my second (Avenger 1100 in .177 or Mendoza rm-600 .177, they are the same, and I guess it's only $13 less). I added the $44 leapers 3-9x32 scope and $38 case & free mount again. I only got about 200 rounds thru my first one before my brother-in-law "Randy" tried it and I never got it back, but now that

I added the $44 leapers 3-9x32 scope and $38 case & free mount again. I only got about 200 rounds thru my first one before my brother-in-law "Randy" tried it and I never got it back, but now that I have tried about 750 rounds thru my new one, and almost all the pellets Pyramyd recommends for this gun, here is more info:
After reading the review on the rm-600 in .22 by the guy who has over 70 air rifles, I tried the sitting with a towel rest and all the different pellets. After finding out that the H & N extra heavy 10.6 gr Baracuda Match are by far the best for this gun, they fit the barrel best and I found that they drop less at 100 yards than the Beemans 8.8 or jbs 8.2 . ( I guess because they fit better. )
So with this pellet I tuned in the scope at 60' indoors on the black 1" dots that change color when you hit them. After tuning, I started hitting the center fairly often buring pellet after pellet, so I changed the game to, " try and remove all the black without going out side the circle". It took 34 shots on the first one with only 1 shot 1/4" out side the circle and 32 shots on the next one with 2 shots less than 1/4 " out side. (it was me not the gun) You might think that the pellets would bounce off the 2x6 after 3 in the same spot, but the mendoza kept pounding them in. ( the first ones going in at least 3/4"). As the dot shrunk I was shooting at little specks of black. I also am a 58 year old man who has not shot a pellet gun since I was 8 years old. ( I have shot my old .22 semi-auto rim fire a few times in the last 30 years.) I compared the rim fire long rifle to the rm-600 in .177 H&N 10.6 gr. The drop at 100 yards is almost the same. So I promptly ordered the rm-600 in .22 with the non-wood stock, (much lighter, and that is important for me being only 5-10" & 150 lbs) and a centerpoint 3-9x40 (made by leapers and recommended by the sales rep over the leapers) with case and free mounting. Can't wait. I wonder how long it will take my friends and I to get to 70 air rifles? When will Tom review this gun? I can't believe there is something better for the money. Things I would have changed:Again I want the rear sight on the rm-2000. That is all. What others should know:Be sure to cock the barrel all the way back, or the safety will not re-set all the way and you will have to take a shot with about 10 lbs of trigger pull on the first safety trigger.

Things I liked:Everything; accurate, accurate, accurate, size, weight, balance, finish, design, quality and PRICE. This is my second mendoza, (this is just like the mendoza 600, a little cheaper) I got the 2000 7 pellet magazine model and loved it but my friend loved it also, so i sold it to him and got this one with a leapers 3-9x32. This is a super nice combo, Tom's articles on the mendoza 2000 and 200 sold me. This scope is so good in poor light, super crisp, the best adjustments maybe at any price, and on top of this rifle, with the RIGHT pellets, my friends and I are getting 3/4" groups at 60 feet time after time, and often dead center on first shot on a 1/4" black dot, (cool when they turn green) The scope is so sharp that you can see when you double pellets also. We shot at 2x6 dry port orford cedar (as hard as doug fir) and the jbs or h&n match went in 3/4 inch to the back of the pellet. Long distance test was great, 2" drop at about 200' the 2000 dropped more than twice that. It was pretty easy to hit bear cans at 200' . With a jbs hollow point or preadator 8.2 gr you get less drop and great know down power.
Last night my shaky brother in law (a novice to guns) said can i try your new gun, I said sure and never got it back. He was knocking off bottle caps at 60' and complaining that he kept hitting the top, till finally he nailed the center and was happy. He really liked the weight and balance it settled him down, and when I told him to just shoot when the hairs come across the target, instead of trying to hold the target, he got real good, so good that he started the same groupings standing up with no rest, BLEW MY MIND. That is when I had to say "hey man that has got to be your gun" Things I would have changed:Too nice of guns, I can't keep my friends from buying them from me and I have to keep re-ordering. What others should know:You can't shoot a light pellet in this gun. It has to be fat and at least 8.2 or forget accuracy. Don't let any one else shoot it if you want it back.
