What others should know:If you are into fun plinking at long distances or small game hunting, this rifle will proudly finish any job. The scope stop helps a ton, but make sure to get a better one than the one that comes with it. I was nailing targets from 100+ yards away with this thing. This gun is one of the best pellet rifles available today and it is very dependable. Small game cannot stand up to this thing. Very very powerful. If you buy heavier lead ammo, you will deliver alot more power downrange and this rifle handles it fine.

Things I would have changed:put on a better scope. needs a more toutchy trigger.
What others should know:this gun is awesome. make sure you lower the horizantal stopping pin into the hole or else the scope will move around and completely screw up your scope stop. my big cat loves the crossman premeir hollowpoints and the crossman hunter pellets. the pba pellets arent very accurate with it, it allways seems like they fly off somewhere. this is a great airgun for the price and i highly recommend it. also make sure you buy gamo pellet gun oil for it. oil all moving parts, before you use it, after you use it, and before you put it away for a while. its also nice to put a drop down the barrel before you use it. you should clean out the barrel every 600 or 750 shots, because the lead buildup inside the barrel dramaticly changes the accuracy. DO NOT dry fire this gun because the piston can slam too hard and mess it up. if you use cleaning pellets in it, make sure you put the cleaning pellet in first, and then a light pellet like the pba to avoid the piston from slamming too hard.
this is a very accurate gun, i can hit eggs at 70 yards with it, and i can kill bunnys, squirrels, crows, pigeons, doves, sparrows, and starlings at 50 yards. for a .177 airgun, thats pretty good

Things I would have changed:Smoothe out the plastic under the trigger guard. That thing cut me open after about 50 shots.
What others should know:I purchased the crosman phantom with the gray barrel and illuminated scope. And to tell you the truth, I was not as impressed with the performance of it like I am with the Big Cat. The crosman looks and feels awesome, but weights a ton, and is nowhere as powerful as the big cat.
One thing you might want to know is that it does make this little weird noise when you pump it, but its a small price to pay for high power.
It is exactly what all the people say "ITS A SLEEPER".
By the way, it is extremely deadly when you combine it with the Beeman Crow Magnums. I took out a raccoon at about 25 yards with one shot.
Great job GAMO.

Things I would have changed:Definitely change the scope and trigger. Not that there that bad, but if you really want to customize it, you will want to update these. The scope is very wishy-washy. A lot more accurate than people have been saying, but you'll want to spend the extra cash for a nicer one. Same with the trigger.
What others should know:My suggestion, get the bipod, new scope, and trigger. You don't have too as this thing is an amazing value for the money. I have to agree with what one of the reviewers said, I think this thing is a sleeper. EXTREMELY powerful! Very accurate if you know what you're doing. I put on a Leapers scope and am considering doing the Gas Spring Conversation for this, as this thing does have a kick to it. I'm just amazed for the price how incredible this thing is. I shot with a friend of mine who purchased the Gamo Whisper Deluxe, and all he wanted to do is shoot mine instead! He loved the weight of the Big Cat 1200. All-in-all, a great gun for the value, with one heck of a punch! You honestly won't believe it!

Things I would have changed:I suggest you change your underwear after shooting this gun for the first time. The recoil is nice at first.
What others should know:The scope was a bit tough to put on, but i managed. When I did eventually get it to stay, I had some adjusting to do. There's a little black screw on the rear scope mount which helps alot. Therefore no replacement scope is needed unless you have the vision of a bat.

Things I would have changed:Not much for the money. Maybe I would ask Gamo to go back to including the better scope with this rifle.
What others should know:I got this one at Walmart for $150. I kept it at that price because mine came with a Gamo 3-9 x 40 scope, which is real nice unlike the scope that is now shipping with this gun according to reviews and advertisements for this rifle elsewhere. I still found it necessary to buy a TruGlo 3-9 x 50 which has lighted crosshairs. Nothing that moves is safe in my yard...

What others should know:I bought a UTG .22 5/8 rail converter and bought new1" mounts for a NEW SCOPE. my scope, when i went to sight it in, shortly after taking it out of the box, the shot was under the cross hairs and I coulnd't go any lower on the scope. My solution was puting a few layers of friction tape on the bottom. Now This Scope Gun combo is great. I still have to adjust the scope after about every 50-100 shots. Also oiling and cleaning it greatly improve the accuracy and power. I try to do this every week.

Things I would have changed:Gun is a little loud when firing. Some king of dampener or silencer would be good. Little more power would be cool, but would probably raise pice. Not much to change.
What others should know:SCOPE IS FINE. Inside the rear ring is a pin that you can lower into the rail of the gun to PREVENT SCOPE CREEP!!! I see this is the major problem people seem to have with this gun. The pin uses the small hex wrench that is included with the gun. Only reason to get a different scope is if you want the better optics (which of course everybody would love). But as a beginner scope it isn't bad. So use that pin and don't spend money on a scope stop, new scope mount, or new scope!!!
Happy shooting!

I find the Raptor pellets bouncing off squirrels at 15 yards. So I would like to know what they are using to kill rabbits. The gun is great for target practice, I find it very accurate. I gave it an over all 4 because of the scope...the gun itself is a 5.

Most accurate gun ive seen.. My scope came sighted in :)
Pellets fly faster than speed of sound.. making the pellet hit the animal before the sound of the gun itself.. makes it easier to kill jumpy varmints like rabbits..
Well.. It also performs well at shooting targets..
this gun will shoot right through a can w/ out moving it...
It can also shoot through 4 cans w/out moving a single one.
I was also able to shoot caps off of waterbottles cleanly.
Also.. when you shoot glass bottles, they dont shatter.. a fat whole is made with the bottle intact..
:) Much fun...
Gold pba makes gun much louder... and funner to use..
Great Buy :)
Things I would have changed:Nothing..
What others should know:Gun is so powerful.. it has recoil.. but it doesnt effect the shot :)

Things I liked:I bought this for older kids at the last minute at Xmas when my order for the Benjamin Super Streak was backordered. I am still waiting for the Super Streak (we have Benjamin Blue and Silver streaks for years) but the Big Cat was a nice surprise. VERY loud for the first few shots, which was actually kinda cool. Then it calmed down. Came fairly well sighted in, and later adjusted nicely. Bought some Beeman Trophy and Silver Ace Pellets at my local store, and was very happy with the accuracy. Crow Magnums, great spread on impact. Tried some steel pointed pellets and went through medium thin plywood!
Things I would have changed:For the price and enjoyment, not much.
What others should know:Try lots of pellets and have fun...It's surprising just how different it shoots with a varied diet....

What others should know:BB-Tipped pellets give any airpowered gun great penatration ie; My Big cat shoots through one side of a 55 gal. steel drum, WOW !! was the reaction from fellow airgunners with me at the time, I can only amagine what the Extreme would do ( I guess I'll have to find out !)

Things I liked:Unlike last rev. I read, EXREMLY LIGHGTWEIGHT!! After a resonable break in (ABOUT 100-200 shots) it becomes very well behaved! As said above I like the LIGHT WEIGHT!! Great for easy carry on hunting adventures!! Dependable small game accuraccy to about 30 yrds. Great easy shooting plinker for all day shooting FUN!!!

Things I would have changed: A better scope. Scope is very clear opticly, but POI. changes! This reason for #4 rating on accuracy. I beileive gun deserves 5 on accuraccy w/ right scope & GRT 111 after market trigger!!
What others should know:This is a really fun airgun for the $$ Powerfull enough for sq. crows & rabbits all day long at reasonable ranges,, Setting up scopes is a little tricky at best,, Let Pyramids Experts do it for you!! Then when you get your rifle, just shoot & fine tune!! This gun IS FFUUNN!!

Things I liked:Sorry all. My scope seems just fine. I used a pumkin for my first target. After a few shots we were hitting near bulls eye from 17 yards (50 feet). We never missed the pumkin. Most shots went clear through and out the back. Great power and accuracy. Have not tried the PBAs yet.

Things I would have changed:Pyramid should charge a little more and equip it with a better scope. EVERY reviewer complains about the "free" one, and the gun has no sights if you wanted a choice.
What others should know:I adjusted the 2nd stage trigger for a very short pull, and this helps this gun alot, I think. Anyhoo, it's a really great deal for the money. Pyramid folks are very nice to deal with.

Things I would have changed:i would revamp the trigger pull, it seems a little hard to get use to at first, and the scope needs to just not come with it, after 30 shots I broke the first scope that came with it, then I returned it to walmart and the second one took about 50 shots before the scope was out of alignment, I tried loctite and everything, so I ended up ordering a TS LEAPERS scope, they start at about 49.90 and up, I will try that out.
What others should know:Just what I mentioned about the scope coming lose and not being powerful enough. It has a little kick, and it is such a unique kick it destroys the scope that it comes with after hundreds of shots. I tried loctite and everyhting, but I still ove this gun, I orderd a new scope off ebay but through pyramdair store.

What others should know:Great value for the money. Scope that comes with the gun is way underpowered and needs to be changed. Tried a lot of different pellets but still not found the one that my BigCat likes. C-T-C grouping is best at 0.75" @ 30 yards with Crosman Premier Super Match but I will try some Gamo next time.
