Things I liked:The Gamo Recon gun stock is very ergonomic, the pistol grip is very comfortable, and the barrel is very easy to break for nine year old son and twelve year old daughter.
Things I would have changed:I would like to see a better written manual, trigger, and information on how to order replacement parts in the manual.

What others should know:The Gamo Recon barrel vibrates and the compression is inconsistence, which cause it to be inconsistence in the accuracy department .When the recon accuracy is compared against the Crosman Raven, it failed miserably. I purchase a Gamo Recon for my daughter and two Crosman Raven from Parymydsair. The Raven out perform the Recon in accuracy, power, and costs. Both my kids can knock off a soup can on our fencepost from 30 yards using Crosman Premier .177 Cal, 7.9 Grains, Hollowpoint with this the Raven. If you are going to buy a youth air rifle for your kids, spend your hard earn money on the Crosman Raven.

Things I liked:Small, lightweight, quiet and accurate. It's also very easy to cock and can take out birds, rats and small squirrels with the right ammo and shot placement within 20 yards.
Things I would have changed:Either include a better scope or none at all and drop the price a little. Or include iron sights (like the Delta)

What others should know:I purchased this for wife and kids for closer range (20 yard max) indoor and backyard plinking and it's an excellent rifle for just that. It took awhile to break it in and find its sweet spot (about 1500 rounds) but now it's a little tack driver at 20 yards. Shots may initially be all over the place, but just be a little patient and keep going while testing out various holds for the sweet spot. Mine is just forward of the trigger guard (that's after I took the butt plate off and stuffed it with foam). This rifle shoots better with a hand underneath. I shot a few hundred with the front stock area just resting on a sandbag and it wasn't great - but after using my open palm as a rest it grouped much better.
Don't purchase this if you want an uber leet rifle that drives tacks at 30 yards and drops buffalo at 50. I don't understand why other reviewers purchase this rifle for this low price then whine and moan about how it's plastic, too light and not that great. Get over it, send me your Recon and spend a few more hundred for a different rifle. DO buy this if you want a compact, light and quiet fun rifle to shoot indoors and outdoors with at closer ranges. For the price you're paying for a fun and accurate spring rifle it's well worth it.

Things I liked:The easy cocking, light weight, quietness, accuracy make this rifle a lot of fun to shoot. The synthetic thumhole stock is totally sweet and the polymer covering on the bull barrel keeps it looking good without any chance of rust. The trigger is better than my other Gamo's.

Things I would have changed:I would like it to come with a little nicer scope. Also mine did not come with a scope stop so I purchased one of the Gamo stops from Pyramid as I did get some scope movement without it.
What others should know:I bought this rifle for my son and out of three Gamo Rifles we own, this one gets shot the most. It is not the most powerful, but it is so quiet, easy to cock and so easy to shoot well, that we put more pellets through the Recon than any of the others. Ours loves Crosman Premiers (7.9 gr) and averages 510-515 fps with them.
