Things I would have changed:The grip. In addition to the grip being too big, the geometry is a little strange. I find myself having to push the top of my hand forward for the barrel to be level. Other guns that I have shot are the same or very close to the barrel/grip angle relationship of my glock handgun. For me, I need that relationship to be the same as to not screw up my muscle memory when drawing my glock. I will be making a new grip for this shortly.
Bright white dots on the sights would have been nice
What others should know:This is a very good airgun and would by another.

Things I would have changed:Nothing--it is NOT the absolute PERFECT air pistol, but I doubt you could improve it much without adding substantially to the price. The included manual is a poor, cheap printout of the .pdf one available online at EAA or Pyramyd Air--same text, but with poorly printed, mismatched illustrations and photos.
What others should know:This is a GREAT air pistol. If I could buy only one air pistol, it would probably be the IZH 46M--in fact, I might not have ever bought any others if I had bought it first. The gun is so accurate that there is never any doubt about misplaced shots: YOU did it, it's NOT the gun's fault, which uncertainty is something I dislike about my less accurate "plinkers" (Beeman/Webley Tempest & Crosman 2300KT). I thought long and hard about the price before I finally bought the "Izzy," but once I shot it its price never bothered me again; it is worth the $365 I paid. The best trigger and sights I have yet experienced on an airgun. To me, the grip is NOT a problem, as so many others seem to think, when I consider that any serious match competitor will personalize and modify his guns to an obsessive degree to gain the most infinitesimal physical or psychic advantage. No factory furnished grip could possibly fit every hand size and shape, and the IZH 46M grip doesn't even pretend to do so--it's intended to be customized. I wear XL to XXL gloves, and I have been working my grips very slowly over the past few weeks with a wood rasp and sandpaper, removing each uncomfortable edge, bump or "hotspot" until it now is approaching a custom rock-solid "glued in" fit that has become a natural extension of my arm. The dry-fire feature, also criticized elsewhere, seems fine to me as I don't discern any difference in feel between it and a "live" shot, but that might just be me.

What others should know:I have now had this gun for over a year and love everything about it except the seals which wear out much too fast or pop out to be lost forever. I have had a lot of trouble getting replacements and getting a response from EAA. This gun is VERY quiet, very predictable and a great deal of fun to shoot. Use light target pells of best results. My favorites are the RWS Meisterklugein at 8.2 grains and the RWS hobby, both wadcutters. I can keep them within a quarter at 12 yards. I shoot mostly in my garage and have no noise problems. The slight pffft barely audible 10 feet away. I wouldn't use this for anything but target practice, but for this it is fantastic.

Things I liked:This is one of my favorite pistols. I liked it so much that I bought one for myself. Best thing about it is the superior accuracy and the ease of use. It has a nice light, smooth cocking arm. Great open sights, too. It happens to be one of my favorite 10-meter pistols to recommend to my customers. Workmanship and quality of the machining is there too. This Russian company produces an outstanding product.
Things I would have changed:I would add a safety. Because there isn't one, you do have to be careful when it is cocked and loaded. The trigger is so light to the touch that you could easily misfire it. The other thing I would have changed would be the design or look of the bulky wood grip. I supposed it serves its purpose with the carved groove for your thumb but, well, I'm a woman and we like pretty things.
What others should know:This is a great gun for the money. I would recommend this pistol to the novice or the professional. It is perfect for that target shooter to keep his edge in the off season. It is a must have. RWS 7.0-grain Hobby pellets gave great accuracy results. Well worth the wait if out of stock.

What others should know:Plan on spending time modifying the grip to fit your hand. I used a dremel tool to do mopst of the work and finished with some fine sandpaper. This is not an hour-long project, but will be a work-in-=progress for several weeks as the shooter adapts to using the pistol.

It will take some time to get it perfect but just do a little bit at a time and you will be very happy with the fit. Once you get everything dialed in, you will have a hard time telling if you hit your target as you can put 10 rounds through the same hole :)
Things I would have changed:Nothing. For this price, you can't go wrong.
What others should know:I mounted a red-dot to this just for fun but found I was more accurate using the iron sites. A red-dot just adds weight and makes the balance weird. Try it with the stock sites first before going scope crazy.

Things I liked:I bought one of these a couple of years ago based on the dealer's representation that it was worth the money. I was a bit leery due to the country of manufacture, but decided to take a chance.
I'm glad I did: The 46M is worth every penny. I have run several thousand rounds through it (mainly sitting on my coach, trying to shoot through the same hole in the target across the living room), without any mechnical/maintenance issues whatsoever.
The quality of the materials and worksmanship is excellent. If you're concerned that "this is some piece of shoddy important junk," don't be.
Things I would have changed:The one "problem" with this pistol is the grip. The right side is fine, but the front of the left side ends in a straight line, rather than being "indented" for your fingers. (You can see this on the picture.) This makes it a bit harder to grip, particularly if you are shooting freehand for a considerable time.
But a little work with a Dermel Tool (or even a small wood rasp and some sandpaper) gives you a custom/personalized grip. Just go slowly, and take off the wood in small increments. (You can't put it back if you take off too much.) The result actually makes the grip look better, and it will improve your accuracy and comfort.
What others should know:Because of the design, the pistol is a bit "front heavy" in your hand. I made things worse by putting a Red Dot sight on top. (I'm not a true 10 Meter shooter -- but more of a Couch Commando.)

What others should know:Very sensitive to lubrication (type/quantity). Mine started leaking at the valve after ~1000 shots with regular lubrication, but was able to get working again thru cleaning / switching to a synthetic lubricant.

Things I would have changed:Instructions on how to load the pistol need to be clearer. The pistol needs an indicator that the tells a shooter if the air cylinder is full of air, or need to be pumped.
What others should know:Well worth the money. A lot of fun. Instead of going to the range, I can now shoot in my garage, saving me time and money. If your teetering on which air pistol to buy, this is the only one you will need. Technical support and service are great. Thank you, I will be ordering from your company in the future.

What others should know:I bought this because others said it was quiet, and it is. I shoot it in the basement and no one hears a thing. I only have 22' to the target, but I'm improving. I can put 5 pellets in a quarter size group using the iron sights (I cheat and use a two-handed grip)

It is obvious that the Russians build great barrels. Every time you hear someone mention the IZZY 61 rifle, you will invariably hear the comment. "if you think you like that gun, then you will definitely love a Baikal "IZZY 46". This gun if very much under priced.A real keeper, and a great investment into any air gunners collection.
Things I would have changed:A true "dry firing" feel.
What others should know:Warning Will Robinson!! Like most match pistols this gun does not have a safety! The trigger is so sensitive that just zeroing in on the target and thinking about pulling the trigger will send a round out f the barrel. Repeat, the trigger is more than just a hair trigger. Do not let children near this gun. Adults, both beginner and intermediate shooters should be careful also. I suggest that you adjust the trigger way down until you become more of a expert.

Grips are very nice and very hard. They look like Oak. That isn't bad. They are easily modified but I'll live with the "as issued" for a while.
Things I would have changed:A safety is always good to have. Taking the bolt out of battery to act as a safety kind of bothers me but I guess it's OK.
Slightly nose heavy but you will quickly forget about that when you shoot the pistol.
What others should know:For storage in order to preserve the 2 seals on the bolt, so they are not compressed against the breech and the compression chamber, I release the bolt and place a very small piece of wood under the bolt just enough to prevent movement and keep them off those surfaces. There is no compression on the seals or bolt springs

Things I would have changed:The grip design on the middle finger. It doesn't quite cover the trigger guard that has a sharp edge. Probably easily fixed with wood putty.
What others should know:Aside from the rough grip (which is meant to be whittled down to spec anyway) this gun is flawless.

Things I would have changed:It is fine and simple the way it is... and you can work the stock to your hand rather nicely... but do it slowly.
What others should know:The finishing can be really bad... blueing stuck the adjustment screws on my first one ... Craftmanship can be lousy... the valve of the compression chamber gave way on that first one too after 150 pellets... the second IZH46M I received 6 months later from Pyramidair is great so far and these bad workmanships not present... I checked the screws first thing.. and so should you. Make sure too that you oil the chamber with low flash point oil (the RWS one is great)... that would avoid having the feeling of preparing to compete with Arnold when cocking the cylinder lever... after that all is easier and the Arnold syndrom disappears... and so do the aggravation of the first try... yet they sure did exist.

Things I would have changed:Grip is not adjustable for cant and needs shaped for your hand, but there is enough wood to do that. The trigger is not anjustable for cant like other match pistols. It is a bit nose heavy.
What others should know:Make sure the pistol is cocked all the way back before loading. If not, every time you try to close the cocker, the pistol expel the compressed air and possibly blow a gasket. If you miss it's your fault not the gun. It is larger than many air pistols out there. Get a case for it. The pistol is worthy of a nice case. If you modify the grips, be careful not to remove too much wood at once. I made a second set in my woodshop and have my original set setting aside as a pattern for future additional sets.

What others should know:I've bought dozens of air pistols... many from PyamydAir... This is the best value I have ever seen... I can shoot pop cans at over 50 meters... and if I miss it is not the gun's fault.

Things I liked:Accurate, easy to pump, trigger is great.
Things I would have changed:It needs better balance, it has a heavy front end. The grip is just waiting for you to customize it.
What others should know:Best 10M air gun value on the planet.

Things I would have changed:The grip is adjustable and its right side is shaped nicely, but the left side is literally square and has 90-degree angles. If those were rounded a bit or even shaped ergonomically, this gun would be even more fun to shoot. The importer should write a more thorough manual, even though it's an air gun and it's not rocket science to operate one.
What others should know:I was surprised by the size of this pistol, it is long and you'll have to carefully select a case that will fit it.
I wanted to make the rating a 4.5 for the uncomfyness of the grip, but a 5 is still deserved.

Things I liked:What a fantastic pistol! Incredible accuracy, reasonable price and, so far, fantasatic durability and reliability. It has good, though forward, balance and excellent sights for the price. The trigger is a gem.

What others should know:It's a much larger airgun than it would appear to be in a photo. The darker left-handed grips look even better than stock, though I had minor fit problems.

What others should know:I shoot this for fun, but I can see why it is called a match pistol, If you are looking for a reasonable match pistol I do not think you could go wrong, I have had mine for at least two years and It is still going strong and seals are available if needed. I have only had to use one of my extra seals which is the one that seals around the pellet. You need to be careful with that seal it can be accidently pulled out when you are having fun.

Things I liked:I bought this pistol as a way to practice at home using a silent pellet trap when weather or time does not allow me to get to the range to shoot smallbore target disciplines. This is a very accurate pistol and for the price is a great bang for your buck. Being a pump which is extremely easy for an adult means only pellets are required for hours of practice. This pistol is way more accurate than I could ever shoot freehand. It is also very quiet in my opinion. Very adjustable trigger but for me is fine straight out the box. It appears to be well made and comes with a spare set of seals, alternate sights, brass cleaning rod, pin punch and multi screwdriver. This pistol has to be the best value out there as an entry level match air pistol.
Things I would have changed:I cant think of anything as yet, although the manual is pretty basic and does not explain in detail the sight and trigger adjustment to name a couple, but a quick google search on the www will get all that info at your fingertips.
What others should know:The grip is not real comfortable but has more than plenty of beef to get a dremmel onto it to scalp to fit your hand or there are after market grips available for righties and lefties but they would probably require dremmel work anyway. If silhouete is your thing scope mounts and a scope can be added.
