The RWS 52 is the actionThe mechanical 'heart' of the airgun. It performs most of the functions involved with loading and firing.
of the RWS 48 dressed up in a Monte Carlo beech stock (one inch longer) with a sculpted cheekpiece. For better control, they've added checkeringA method of carving wood that leaves diamond-shaped protrusions to assist in gripping the gun. Also used for decoration. Sometimes incorrectly called knurling, which is a metal-cutting term that produces roughly the same pattern as checkering.
to the grip and forearm. The changes in the stock configuration make an already-great gun even better. Loading is done through a sliding breechThe rear portion of the gun, often found at the bear of the barrel. The ammunition is inserted into the breech. A breech can also be a larger portion of the gun's action. For example, a revolver cylinder is considered the breech of the revolver. A multi-shot airgun with a sliding shuttle would include the shuttle mechanism in the breech.
mechanism. Like the 48, this rifle can be used for field target, plinking, hunting, target shooting and spinners. This sideleverThe cocking lever of a spring piston gun located on the side of the action.
spring-pistonA type of airgun powerplant in which the air that propels the projectile is rapidly compressed at the moment of firing by a spring-driven piston. Also called spring-air.
rifle is popular among airgunners who want the best of all worlds: affordability, power and accuracy.
To get the most accuracy from this powerhouse, mount a scope. It'll come in handy, whether you're shooting at field targets or quarry.
We've recommended a variety of appropriate pellets, which are listed in the Ammo link below. You'll need a robust scope, so check out our suggestions in the Accessories link, where you'll also find other shooting necessities.

Things I liked:Hard-as-hell hitting in .22. With the .22 pellets staying subsonic it's very accurate and quiet. Amazing amount of power downrange for an airgun. Seems extremely well built, albeit very heavy.. Weighs more than my 12 gauge shotgun.
Things I would have changed:It needs to be lighter. But I guess a titanium receiver

Things I would have changed:It needs to be lighter. But I guess a titanium receiver would cost a bit more. A synthetic stock might help but it would probably also unbalance the gun.
What others should know:Accuracy depends a LOT on the pellets used. Get a good variety of heavy (13 grains+) and try them out.

Things I liked:This is my first high quality air rifle and I'm very pleased with it. It's well balanced, powerful and accurate. The workmanship is very good and I like the RWS / Diana logo on the top of the receiver. The wood stock on this model has a raised cheek piece and is a little longer than the 48 which is why I bought it.

Things I liked:ACCURACY: Out of the box I had to fine tune the sights, but it did not take long at all. This gun is extremely accurate.
POWER: I have the .177 caliber version. It does just fine for taking down pests such as squirrels.
DURABILITY: When you pick up the gun, you know you are holding something that has been crafted with precision
