    Things I liked:

Price was excellent. This is the most powerful .177 air rifle I've owned to date. Crosman has lived up to the Benjamin name. Accuracy was very good, but not jaw dropping. I was surprised at how good the trigger was. It could be better, but is already better than the trigger on some of my rimfire cartridge guns. Pumping can be tedious, but at 2k psi, it's not difficult to recharge from 1200 or so. The stock is no-nonsense, but attractive in a utilitarian sort of way. I didn't try shooting with the iron sights, but they appear to be well executed, and again, better than the sights on some of my cartridge firearms.

    Things I would have changed:

All of the changes I'd suggest would bring the gun into the Marauder price range, and the Discovery is meant to be an entry into PCP guns. That said, I'd like to see a barrel shroud, a tighter bolt (mine can fall open if the gun is inverted) a dedicated breech block and bolt for the .177 gun (there's too much room in the breech for .177 pellets to easily tip over when loading), and a weaver type scope mount instead of the 3/8" dovetail. The dovetail mounts are simply not robust enough in my opinion. Even if they simply drilled and tapped the breech block for existing aftermarket weaver bases, it would be a huge improvement. I'd also like to see a "book" type manual rather than the big "map" type fold-out single page manual. They're a lot easier to read. I'd also like to see some O rings and seals included in the event the rifle needs to be serviced, or at the very least, a list of the size and durometer of the seals used so they can be sourced. Another thing I'd change is the location of the fill nipple. Rather than place it on the front end of the gun, I'd prefer to see it installed in the bottom of the reservoir close to the gauge. This way a person could easily connect a remote line from a regulated air source (or CO2) at the gun's optimum working pressure and shoot all day without having to stop to fill. A paintball CO2 remote would work fine for this purpose. Finally, it would be nice to include a small bottle of lubricant with the gun.

    What others should know:

It's LOUD. It might be my imagination but the first time I fired it I thought the pellet went supersonic. It was really that loud. If I had it to do all over again, I'd get the .22 version. the only reason I bought the .177 is because I already have three .177 airguns and wanted ammo commonality. My next air rifle will be a .22 caliber. I really like the Marauder's specs and reviews, but I'm put off by the 3/8" dovetail scope mount. If the gun isn't going to have iron sights and is intended to have a scope, it had better be a substantial mount like a weaver or picatinny rail. Quality pellets make a huge difference. I went to sight my scope in and was shooting 3" groups at 25 yards with regular Crosman pellets. I tried the premier hollowpoints and the groups shrank to an inch or so. I ordered some of the 10.5 grain Premier dome pellets and haven't grouped them yet, but I expect they will be even better. Don't skimp on pellets. They're cheap enough, and make the difference between a hit and a miss when it counts. Why buy a nice rifle and feed it substandard ammo? This was my first PCP airgun, and I'm convinced it's a great system. Best part is a lot of accessories from my paintball days carry over. PCP is a good powerplant for aging paintball players.

    Things I liked:

I just purchased the Discovery air rifle in .177 caliber. I had previously purchased the Discovery air rifle in .22 caliber. I liked the .22 caliber so well I decided to buy the .177 caliber. Both rifles have exceeded my hopes relative to accuracy and consistency. I shoot the Crossman Premier hollow points in both rifles. The rifles are light enough to carry comfortably and balance well enough for steady offhand shots. Velocities that I get with the Crossman Premier pellets are within 25 to 35 fps of the published velocities in the sales literature for these rifles. I have scoped the .22 caliber and am shooting the factory fiber optic sights on the .177 caliber rifle. I find the factory fiber optic sights to be very good for field use and plinking. These are great rifles at great prices.

    Things I would have changed:

The triggers on the Discovery rifles are a bit heavier than I like but are very usable. This is the only feature on the Discovery rifle that has room for improvement. Again, they are not bad triggers just a bit heavy trigger for such an accurate rifle.

    Things I liked:

I said I'd finish my review today, after I done some more shooting with my New 22 caliber Benjamin Discovery Rifle.. Well First thing I'm 58 Years old and my mind plays tricks on me,,. I thought I had the Gun good and clean by running some clean rags through it, but I didn't have it clean as it should have been,, they are put together with a very Dirty Barrel. I used a few mops, and a drop of oil,, Only a drop of gun oil on one of the mops to get the grease loose and then I used rags to dry it and mop it till the barrel was shinning. Now it hits the same spot at about 20 yards, not tried any further because I been a little busy. I got 25 shots out of a 2000 pound fill,, It's amazing how a dirty barrel will mess you up. But now the 22 Caliber Discovery is as accurate as my other three Benjamin rifles,, now I have both sets. The Discovery is noisy compared to teh Marauder, but so is a 22 rifle. Ive hunted all my life, and never shot at a Squirrel even with a shot gun any further than about 30 yards,, so this gun will definitely do the job plus some.. I went ahead and ordered the heavy weight pellets because if i want a rabbit or a squirrel, I want to do it right the first time. The Discovery is so light that it makes up for the noise, you can carry it all day long and not get fatigue, I have the scuba tank and teh Benjamin tank and a Gas powered compressor so air is no problem here, I also have 2 of the Discovery pumps, this gun for the money is a steal. Clean the barrel

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing, it works just fine, hits the spot, Isn't that what it's all about? lolol.. I think a 25 caliber in this rifle would be good, but since they don't have it I ordered the heavy Kodiak Pellets,, it is close to the weight of the 25 caliber pellet but maybe a little under, but this gun will handle them for sure.

    What others should know:

This is one of the best deals to get into PCP rifles,, I have the 17 and the 22 caliber in both the Discovery and the Marauder, I liked them so well I wanted a set of each.

    Things I liked:

Just got my 22 discovery today, I have both Marauders and both discoveries. This 22 seems to shoot very fast, I only get from 10 to 15 shots on a fill up, compared to the 17 calibers 25 shots. This gun is very powerful I put a 16 power scope on it and as fast as I pull the trigger the pellet hits the target, I use the 14.5 grain Crossman pellets. This guns power supply would easily handle a 25 caliber. It is definitely an Air hog, it seems to have a sweet spot at about 1500 PSI above that it throws flyers, something the other guns don't do. But that is because of the speed of the pellet IMHO,. Speed in excess of about 1100 FPS seems to do that and from what I can Judge, this is the fastest gun of all the other three. I don't have a way of testing the speed , but it is obvious that this is by far the most powerful of all the New rifles Benjamin made. It is light, and a breezy to carry, and I have also done installed sling swivels. The gun might settle down when it is shot a lot, but for now it is a screamer. I'd like for it to shoot the 900 advertised speed, it for sure is faster than mu Marauder 17 and 22 and the Discovery 17. So maybe it is because it is throwing out more air Not for sure, time will tell. My other 3 Benjamin's will take the lid off of a plastic soda bottle pointing towards me at 30 yards consistant from my bench, I hope this one does the same after a few more break in shots,.

    Things I would have changed:

Well it seems like it's all intact, some sling swivels would be nice, But I done put mine on..

    What others should know:

This gun is powerful, if it is bought for one of your youngsters, by all means coach him or her before turning them loose with this gun, it definitely isn't a toy, it is by far more powerful than a CB cap,,. It will probably take down a Raccoon real easy, at least mine will I have no doubt about it..

    Things I liked:

Light weight makes for an easy handling rifle. Was very surprised at the accuracy of this rifle! I especially like the fill pressure of 2000 psi, can get lots of shots from my 80 cf scuba tank!!

    Things I would have changed:

Would prefer larger rear sights, the stock sights are a bit on the small side. Not a problem if you use a scope of course. I also would like the pressure indicator to be easier to read. And how about a synthetic thumb hole stock at this price??

    What others should know:

This rifle is louder than I expected, but I like it. I am lucky in that I do not have any close neighbors, otherwise, this could be a problem shooting in the back yard. In my opinion, this is an excellent buy, could not have been happier with my first PCP airgun!

    Things I liked:

Great power & accuracy, easy to fill with pump or scuba tank. Nice walnut stock, great fiber optic sights (but the rear could be improved - see comment below). Dual fuel option capability is a bonus. This is an incredible rifle for the money.

    Things I would have changed:

Rear sight should have finger adjustments like the QB finger adjust rear, but an easy an inexpensive swap. Shrouded barrel to make it more neighbor friendly, this thing is LOUD.

    What others should know:

If you are looking to get into PCP rifles, this is a great starting point. Competition and hunt ready out of the box if you have a way to fill it. Replacement, fill and mod parts are abundant for low cost. Don't hesitate, buy it - you won't regret it.

    Things I liked:

outstanding power and accuracy . had no problems in this department. mounted a leapers 4 x 32 and could get good groups. no prob with taking out small game or pests. mine is in .177 cal and was ordered with the PA 10 for 10 test. no probs till date with the gun or the packaging.

    Things I would have changed:

my gun has bolt flip and i think that crosman should look into the problem. i have seen a lot of posts about the bolt flip problem

    What others should know:

is a bit loud for use in residential areas. not appreciating the power of this gun in .177 can lead to potentially dangerous situations. the pellets travel a good distance and can ricochet at odd angles.

    Things I liked:

This is our second .22 Discovery. This time we ordered Premiers in the cardboard box to check accuracy and compare against the RWS pellets. Shooting at 50 yards, my son and I are burying the pellets into praire dog targets usually used for center fire rifles. The power exhibited by the impact on the targets is impressive. Using the premiers, flight is definitely flatter than the RWS was able to watch the final flight and impact of both RWS and Premier at the target. This pellet rifle is excellent and accurate. Will be using this air rifle during small game season this fall. Pyramyd Air sent this out to us and it arrive in excellent shape. The rifle itself is solid the trigger much better than My Whisper.

    Things I would have changed:

Would like a metal trigger, but this one doesn't prohibit accuracy.

    What others should know:

Don't underestimate the power of this pellet rifle. I saw some pellets bounce off the self resetting praire dog targets, but I saw more penetrate the targets themselves. That is some tough plasticized rubber material. We have even bulged the backside of the dogs. If you are considering using this air rifle for hunting, go with the .22, our whisper doesn't hit with near the impact power the Discovery .22 does.

    Things I liked:

Nice looks, hard hitting on a 4" square sheet metal target at 75 yards. Seems to hold a very tight group at that distance but I need a proper bench rest to do better.

    Things I would have changed:

repeater would be very nice option, also the bipod.

    What others should know:

bought the airpump with it, went to charge the gun and it would not hold the air, sent it to Crossman, they sent a replacement with a real nice stock :). It leaked just like the other gun, turned out the gun wasn't bad. I used a scuba tank to refill and it leaked initailly 0-40 PSI, then it sealed shut. Holds pressure grate :). Maybe others have had luck pumping it up from 0 PSI, not me!

    Things I liked:

got the 177 cal and this thing is just a joy to shoot . after shooting some pellets found the jbs to be the best with half inch groups at 50 yrds off the shooting rest no wind . i got this for pest control and it is a winner 40 shots out to 60yrds and 36 birds didn't leave the dairy. best of all its light and easy to move around with and the pumping is no problem.little work out lots of fun. the kids call it the little monster.

    Things I would have changed:

only thing that i didn't really like was the barrel to much flex moved the band up to the end of barrel that's when it started shooting really good and the trigger seems a little to hard to pull . hoping it gets better with time.

    What others should know:

$399.00 beans and worth it all . if your thinking about getting one of this DO IT what you waiting for.this is the first review Ive done on an air gun and i got 6 of them this one was worth it finally.

    Things I liked:

Great gun... accuracy is top notch out to about 50 yards...assuming that you are sighted in at that distance... if you sight in at 25 yards there is significant drop when shooting at 50 yards...still tight groups but much lower point of impact. Great clean and simple walnut stock. Overall weight is very light... ends up being perfect with a midsize scope and mounts.

    Things I would have changed:

I added sling swivel studs, and stripped the sights off of the gun for a cleaner look with the 6X32mm Bug Buster II scope that I mounted.

    What others should know:

This is a great gun... you will get about 20-25 full power shots before the point of impact begins to droop... but if you plot the droop based on how much pressure the gun has left, you can get up to 50 accurate shots by holding a specific amount over the target. I recommend this gun highly... it is just fun to shoot. Mine is .22 caliber and used primarily for hunting grouse and hare.

    Things I liked:

A pretty fair PCP for the money. I already owned a .177 Discovery when I ordered this .22. I have several high dollar PCP's that are better but find I enjoy the light weight and not having to guard the finish on this gun enough I tend to use it more than the higher priced ones. Plus it is cheap cheap cheap when compared to other PCP's

    Things I would have changed:

As a take off on the Realtors saying of Location, Location, Location. I say about the Discovery changes needed Trigger, Trigger, Trigger.

    What others should know:

Clean the barrel good before shooting it. It has grease and crud in it like you wouldn't believe. Just take a few minutes to run a few patches down it before popping in the first pellet.

    Things I liked:

The power and number of shots you get for a 2000PSI fill is great! This gun is light, so put a good scope on it, even if its heavy.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like a lighter trigger pull with a true 1st and 2nd stage. I am already looking at trigger and Sear mods and tunes to try to level out the velocity per shot.

    What others should know:

I have an Air Arms S400 Xtra, pin point accuracy at 35 yards and 1/2" at 50 yards with a very light trigger pull, but the fill to 3000PSI is a workout with my Hill pump. On the other hand, out to 35 yards the Disco is close to matching the AA S400 for accuracy when you are shooting in the 1800 to 1500 PSI range on a fill.

    Things I liked:

I bought this air rifle for hunting in the fields, for squirells, and other small game. I bought this because it is very light weight, easy cocking without moving ur hands all around. I can cock this air rifle just using my index finger and thumb. I found that very usefull. And I liked the length, not to long. But i think the stock could have been polished off a little better. But then again you can only get so much for $293.

    Things I would have changed:

I do not like the trigger at all, It says it is a 2 stage but i could not find any two stages. And it is plastic. And I think they could have added another band to the barrel for less flex at the tip of the barrel. And the open sights are only accurate up to 10 yards. But still a great air rifle. (I am just a little picky) haha.

    What others should know:

If you are looking for a nice size, light weight air rifle you want to take out hunting for a day. This is what you are looking for. I have the RWS 350 magnum also, And I would say they both have about the same power, if not the Benjamin has a little more. I personally like the Benjamin over the RWS 350 because it is lighter weight, smaller, And easier cocking. And u get a good weekend full of air gun shooting with it filled all the way. Great Air rifle. And thank you Pyramid Air for your great assistance.

    Things I liked:

Extreme value for money, very accurate and powerful enough. Good woodwork with fine fit & finish. My 177 makes 900 fps with 10.20 gn pellets, easy to shoot sub 1 inch at 50 yards, sometimes 1/2 inch. Easy to work on, seems durable and with inexpensive spareparts. Very easy to pump due to low pressure valve. Havent tried Co2 but lots of shots using a divers tank. Excellent filingsystem (Foster) and very good plastic fillingcap to protect them

    Things I would have changed:

The triggerunit is plastic. It works decent but feels very cheap. The triggerhouse and triggerblade should be metal. The two-screw triggermod should be standard from factory. Same as the retrofit power-adjuster. Degasser should be included with every gun. The screws holding the valve visable from the outside of the tube shold be allentype for better looks.

    What others should know:

I have used about every PCP on the market during the last 10 years and owned several of them too. This Discovery is a very good rifle and outstanding in value for money.

    Things I would have changed:

    Things I liked:

It is a very good rifle for the price. When I finally got a good rifle (after three tries) I found the gun to be a real pleasure. I have tuned the trigger, improved the finish of the stock and replaced the plastic butt pad with a rubber one. It is no problem to pump the chamber to 2000 psi and the shots are very consistent. It is also nice to be able to switch to CO2 just for plinking.

    Things I would have changed:

I think Crosman has done an excellent job for a first try in the PCP department. There is very little I would change considering the price.

    What others should know:

Despite the fact that I got two faulty rifles, PyramydAir was extremely good at taking care of the problem. Unfortunately, I live in a crime-ridden state (Illinois) where our government feels that no one but criminals should possess any type of weapon including airguns that could inflict damage on another human being. Shipping new or repaired airguns is a real chore.
