    Things I liked:

this gun is so accurate. i could hit a 1 inch target at over 100 yards once i scoped it and can shoot the tabs off of cans

    Things I would have changed:

putting more power in so i can also use it for hunting but targets like it was made for it is perfect

    What others should know:

the clip loads through the side. left first then the right also it is very easyto load and can fire bbs

    Things I liked:

This gun is very accurate, it is light and the 1 pump is very easy. Benched at 10 meters this gun will put pellet after pellet in one hole. The trigger is crisp and very predictable. This gun is a great way to improve your 10 meter shooting on a budget.

    Things I would have changed:

The bolt action could be improved by making it longer or using some metal on it. The bolt works fine, but could be better.

    What others should know:

Finding the right pellet took some time for me, but the best has been RWS Diabolo Basic 7.0 grain. they are incredible in this rifle.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Accuracy, single-pump action, 5-shot magazine, small sights don't look like much, but are actually good for precision shooting.

    Things I would have changed:

Come into the 21st century and give it a comfy thumhole stock. The semi-pistol grip stock is better than a sporter-style stock, but still only halfway to being really comfy to hold. Small nitpick.

    What others should know:

This is a GREAT gun, when you've gotten over your case of Magnumitis. It is easy to shoot accurately, for hours at a time. The gun doesn't recoil like a springer, and doesn't take expensive support gear like a PCP. Thus, it is the perfect gun if you can make do with 400 fps. This is the ugly stepchild of the 853 and 753, with their fancy-pants Lothar Walther barrel, but it still shoots like a champ. The magazines work great, and I could mount a scope on a one-piece mount and the lack of clearance is not even a problem. Extra magazines are reasonably priced. I can't recommend this gun highly enough.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

I loved my Daisy 880 but the 953 has a one piece stock, and a steel scope rail (I find both a plus) and I have found it to be VERY accurate. I'm 69 and a little shaky but I still like to wipe out the bulls eye center at 30'. Certainly seems to be well made and has a very nice feel to it. One pump doesn't affect my breathing compaired to the five pumps I do with the 880. I will admit I use a bench rest, have to or I wouldn't hit the wall.

    Things I would have changed:

I've only put several hundred pellets thru it so it's really too early to tell. So far it suits me just fine. I've used both pointed tips and wad cutters with excellent results.

    What others should know:

The 880 is a great all around gun but I absolutely prefer this Daisy 963 for putting out paper bulls eyes.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Inherent accuracy, no recoil, medium weight, single pump design, build quality. This gun is pretty easy to shoot accurately.

    Things I would have changed:

A bit better quality control from Daisy. The first one I got would not feed a pellet, no matter what I did. There was either some obstruction in the barrel, or there was a finishing problem where some flashing was folded over. Daisy took care of me though. I called them and they sent me a return shipping label, and had a new one out to me within a couple weeks. This is why I deducted one star from the Overall rating.

    What others should know:

The stock sights are pretty cheesy. They're fiber optic, but fiber optics aren't needed on a target gun. Still, with some concentration, you can achieve dime size groups at 10 yard even with those sights. I recommend mounting a UTG 4X or 6X Bugbuster scope on this to really unlock the full potential of this rifle. This gun, with it's single pump, shoots about as hard as a CO2 pistol. Here are some velocity readings from my chrono: 7.1 gr. Beeman Laser = 477 fps, Crosman Premier HP 7.9 gr. = 411 fps, RWS Hobby 7 gr = 436 fps, Beeman Kodiak 10.65 gr. = 356 fps, Crosman Premier Light 7.9 gr. = 419 fps, JSB Exact 8.4 gr. = 421 fps, JSB Exact RS 7.3 gr. = 459 fps, Beeman pointed 8.3 gr. = 406 fps, H&N FTTP 8.8 gr. = 394 fps, Skenco Poly match 4 gr. = won't fit, Crosman SSP Pointed 4 gr. = 565 fps, Daisy Precision Match pointed 7.2 gr = 435 fps. The most accurate pellets of the above were JSB Exact RS and Beeman Laser. RWS Hobby also are very accurate. The length of pull on the stock is kind of short, but not uncomfortable for an adult. Remember, this is a target gun, and designed to be held close to the body, so you can rest your forward arm against your ribs for top accuracy.

    Things I liked:

Amazing accuracy, not very picky on pellets. Of all the 16 different pellets i have tried 14 sub .50 inch groups at 10 yards, 10 sub .25 in. And the rws superdome getting a group of .215 inch ctc. I found this to be amazing considering the gun was only $70!

    Things I would have changed:

Have two power modes low for target and high for the average pest around the yard. / regular iron sights.

    What others should know:

Not a hunting gun! This thing i belive is too weak to get the job done right. But for informal target and for $70 this is one great deal. Ps. Don't bother with the included iron sights they dont do the gun any justice. Have fun and shoot safe.

Accuracy, 5 shot clip, fibre optic sights, single pump, very powerful.

    Things I would have changed:

Would like it a bit lighter.

Scope from my terribly inaccurate b-b gun fits and works great

    Things I liked:

Very light, fun to shoot and accurate

    Things I would have changed:

    Longer stock

    What others should know:

Did a trigger mod followed by a forum blob and trigger is easier to shoot accurately. I have tighter groups at 11 meters with crosman supermatch wad cutter pellets than the cheaper crosman competition wad cutters but not much difference. Daisy precision max wad cutter pellets did not do well but does well in my break barrel pistol.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Like the synthetic stock and the simplicity of the pneumatic pump. Accuracy is very good for my indoor range of 13-15 feet. I replaced the fiber optic sights with the daisy front globe and the Avanti Diopter sight. My 10 year old daughter likes the extra weight that this has over her Daisy 499 and the lack of recoil. Makes it easier for her to hit the bullseye.

    Things I would have changed:

I wish the butt pad was rubber instead of hard plastic. I need to figure out a way to keep it from slipping around when on the shoulder. Would like to see the cocking lever to be metal but it seems sturdy enough for me. I can't seem to figure out where the trigger breaks and I've gotten about 500 rounds through it so far. Maybe in time it will become more pronounced. Loading single pellets takes some finesse and almost all my lead free pellets won't fit snuggly in the 5 pellet clip so they tend to fall out when priming the rifle.

    What others should know:

Great air rifle for my girls and me. We have the most success with the skenco blue arrow lead free as they are the easiest to load into the breech. Until I get the Bronco, which is coming today, this is my go to rifle for target practice. Great way to spend father-daughter time!

    Things I liked:

Very easy to operate, trigger is easier than what was read on reviews, probably won't be doing any trigger mods, very accurate, and the firing cycle is non existent. Fun and relaxing to shoot.

    Things I would have changed:

    For the price nothing.

    What others should know:

Received this rifle without a rear sight. I had forgot to get the Pyramyd Air 10 for 10 product check. Seems that the sight may have not been installed by Daisy. Pyramyd Air customer service was quick in response to return the rifle from Hawaii for an exchange. I think it would be cheaper to buy a new sight rather than pay for shipping.

REally nice pellet gun for the money. it was purchased as a birthday present for a 12 year old and is perfect

I love the 5 shot magazine, accuracy after I installed 853CM sights, one easy pump, the sound it makes, the price.

    Things I would have changed:

Get rid of the junk rear sight. Make another model that will take two pumps that comes with a longer stock for adults. This gun is too much fun to shoot for kids to have all the fun.

    Things I liked:

Excellent value for the money. Perfect gun to get started with. The only real problem is that if you get addicted shooting an air rifle, you are going to want a nicer (more expensive) gun.

    Things I would have changed:

The stock dimensions are not really suitable for an adult. At a minimum, an adult will have to add spacers to increase the length of pull. I also had to build up the comb with foam padding.

    What others should know:

Accuracy was not very good out of the box. However, after a couple hundred rounds, the gun settled in nicely. This gun is far more accurate than I am.

    Things I liked:

The 5 shot clip saves a lot of fumbling with pellets and works flawlessly. The Rifle is easy enough to pump and is a good amount of power for backyard plinking - not too powerful so you can use a standard pellet trap yet powerful enough to shoot accurately. The gun does seem very accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

As most reviewers the sights leave a lot to be desired. I wanted open sights but this implementation of fiber optics and the shape of the sights make lining up the proper sight picture very difficult. I would have preferred plain old iron sights. It is easier to line up squared off notches and posts than the circular fiber dots that are too far apart in the sight picture. I hope to find some way to modify them so that they are better. I really want simple open sights.

    Things I liked:

I puirchased this with the idea of using it as a training rifle I could plink with in my backyard. It works ok for this, very accuate decent dovetail mount, replaceable front sight. Works best with light match ammo. Worked good with Gamo Match pellets, better with H&N match pistol pellets, I have lowered it one star because there is no easy way to attach a standard sling. For those who may not know, a sling is very important for accuracy.

    Things I would have changed:

Add studs for sling swivels, This could have easily been molded into the stock. Somebody dropped the ball on this.

    What others should know:

This is not the best air gun for practice for something like Apple Seed. The cheap Chinese (sub $50) B3 air gun will work a lot better,

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Things I liked:

It is very accurate with less kick then most springers, It has a decent dove tail and some decent sight assessories

    Things I would have changed:

It is a little difficult to load. It doesn't come with swivel studs which is my biggest complaint. I would like to add a USGI sling or a sling mount bipod but with out swivel studs this this can't be done.

    What others should know:

Proper use of a detachable sling is essental for off hand accuracy. As this is not avaliable I can not consider it to be a good trainer. Note: Something like the Daisy Avanti 853C ($300) comes with a sling and is far better for serious competion training. The Chinese 'American Camper B3' pellet gun ($35) is a better back yard plinker to prepare for appleseed.

    Things I liked:

Price, can't find gun this accurate for 71$ anywhere period, 5 shot clips rock, one pump, all the parts are easy to get and affordable, I put the avanti rear precision peep & front globe on mine and Average1/2" 20 yard groups!

    Things I would have changed:

A model with rear peep and globe front, and if daisy could build a 750-850 fps model I would spend 3-400$ to get one but that just wishful thinking. Stock sights are definate no go.

    What others should know:

Identical internals as the 853 without a 180$ lothar/walther barrel, theres a good trigger mod thats usually used on the 853, its very easy to do and gets the trigger exactly the way it should be(plinkgun 853 mod), and a way to get 50fps more out it. I've tried a few differnt kind of pellets so far, crosman ssp dont waste ur money 5-6"groups, crosman competition & pionted shoot really good 1/4" groups, daisy pionted/wadcutter very good 1/2"-1/4" groups, please dont expect to hunt wt it, you cant ethically kill anything but time with a 470-490fps gun, but its incredible target gun for the money.
