When AirForce Airguns’ customers asked for a fully moderated, full-sized Texan big-bore air rifle, the Fort Worth, Texas-based manufacturer listened. What resulted is the quietest version of one of the most powerful PCP air rifles in production.
Now AirForce takes the Texan LSS' power up a few notches with its addition of the Texan Carbon-fiber series. The CF tank's 475cc, 250 BAR (approx. 3600 psi) fill pressure and updated TX2 valve help boost the Texan LSS' maximum muzzle energy from an already whopping 600+ foot-pounds of energy to over 800 FPE (in .50 cal)! And, of course, the slightly smaller, carbon-fiber tank weighs less than its aluminum counterpart, bringing the total weight of the Texan LSS down to a feathery 6.35 lbs. (compared to the 8-lb. weight of the standard Texan LSS.)
With its 34” barrel, the Texan LSS it can hurl .45-caliber ammo as fast as 1,040 FPS, AirForce reports. And, it can do it much quieter than its older, unmoderated sibling. Before this, AirForce Airguns shooters desiring the same big-bore bite as the Texan with significantly less bark often looked to the Texan SS and its Sound-Loc System® technology. But, that option comes with lower velocities and muzzle energies that go along with an almost 10-inch shorter barrel.
“With the sport of airgun hunting growing at an exponential rate, the amount of feedback Airforce Airguns has received from hunters in the field has been nothing short of astounding,” said AirForce Airguns Director of Marketing, Cameron Brinkerhoff, in a news release announcing the original Texan LSS. “With that, we have been listening to our market and found that hunters loved the sound suppression benefits of our existing SS models but wanted to achieve the same power levels as our non-suppressed, long barrel models.”
Whether you’re new to airgun hunting or are looking to add another hunting tool to your arsenal, look to the AirForce Airguns Texan LSS carbon-fiber PCP air rifle. Its combination of accuracy, power and reduced report make it an ideal, humane solution for bringing home a wide variety of wild game.

This rifle shoots excellent out of the box. Fitted with the Emperor moderator, and tune it a little. I bought a bullet mold and made sure every bullet was perfect and same weight. Set it up with a Hellix Element scope, and sighted to fifty yards. Went deer hunting, and harvest a big doe, sure thing, that bullet went through breaking ribs and splitting the heart. I was amazed how powerful it is. I always hunted with center fire rifles but this one became my favorite.
Things I would have changed:A better shoulder stock, the one it has is very uncomfortable and ergonomcly incorrect. End up putting a rubber stock from limbsaber, heepls a little.
What others should know:Just go hunting, you won't be disappointed.

My ancient.50 cal Texan which served me well could attain 4" groups at 200 yds. And hit targets at 300 yds. Does this updated version have the same long distance applications?
How many shots per fill?
~3
Very new to all of this. what is the difference between the 45 and 50. i know the 50 took down the bison, will the 45 do it? and can i make my own bullets. $2 per bullet is a bit much for Lead
The .510 (50 cal) can produce up to 100 FPE more than the .457 cal. That would be dependant on the projectile used out of either gun. Shot placement is key, as well as understanding the animal you are hunting. Yes, you can cast your own bullets, as many of the cast bullets used for these guns are for 45 cal powder rifles. Please be aware that you should not use 45 cal handgun bullets for these guns.
To fill your PCP gun:

2.If an adapter is needed, one will be shown

the big bore, made in america, barrel tunning, auto safety and decocking, air regulated by the projectile.
Things I would have changed:tank length, make it longer
What others should know:This is a big rifle, sighting it in i was using 350 gr NSA slugs @ 100 yards, there is a bit of recoil not like a shotgun, but have to move scope forward a bit first shot my eye was too close, 4 shots on 3000 psi fill. Had a elect pump but it was a chore to fill running back and fourth. Best to get a a large tank and tether it to rifle. I will be using lighter slugs 290 nsa, the gun is fun to shoot, easy to operate, will take a bit to get used to. it is quiet for a rifle this size. I do not have any complaints about it. Just a learning curve. craftsmanship is great.
