Things I liked: Keep your shots within the frame, & it's worry free shooting.
Things I would have changed: Have a removable top frame for it. Make it a little wider for further away shots, so the frame doesn't get hit. It could happen.
What others should know: Not sure yet if there's replacement gel packs available for when the ones inside it get too many shots in them. Still wouldn't hurt to put something sturdy behind it to be safe.
Things I liked: Can use indoors
Things I would have changed: Lower price
Things I liked: I would offer a metal plate to be placed in the box ahead of the duct seal. I put one in mine.
Things I would have changed: In the photo I put aluminum strips around the exterior to save the box from errant pellets. I think this should be standard.
What others should know: When this target is shot up you will have a good model for your own build.
How deep is the ballistic putty?
Approximately 1.5" - 2"
What are the best type of pellets to use with ballastic putty? I just purchased this item along with a Daisy Avanti 747 and pellets are bouncing all o Edit | Delete
With the Avanti 747 any pellet would bounce off, it doesn't have enough power
will this work for the high muzzle velocities rifles and pistols?
They do have a version of this same trap with the steel backer
Pyramyd Air has changed the specs on this trap. Please note that it's much, much lower now. Do not exceed the newly recommended max ft-lbs. and minimum recommended distances: max 6 ft-lbs. @ 10 meters or max 12 ft-lbs. @ 25 yards.
Pyramyd Air recommends this trap for airguns that deliver less than 18 ft-lbs. of energy at a distance of 10 meters. For safety's sake, please stick with their recommendations. This trap doesn't have a metal backer.
I have seen these stop .22 caliber airguns shooting at 30+ FPE, so they should work just fine.
