Hawke Sport Optics Airmax 3-9x40AO Rifle Scope, Map 6 Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1" Tube by Hawke Sport Opticsreviews summary
Things I would have changed:Windage knob, durability and $$ Should change the name to rimfiremax - it might hold up to one. What others should know:Put this on a R1 windage came loose at 200rds and at 400 the eyebell came loose and had to be spun in 2+ turns to tighten - now it's offset by 90 degrees. They will replace it but it will not go back on an air rifle - save your $$ til you can afford better quality - my first review and it has to be a bad one. Comments
Thanks for being honest about the scope breaking. After reading hundreds of reviews on airgun scopes I'm inclined to believe that none of them are sure things as far as durability goes. Maybe the high end scopes are better but none of the low to mid price scopes sold at PA have a great review history in regard to holding up on high powered springers like the RWS 48, etc. Seems like a crap shoot to me
Things I would have changed:None. What others should know:None. Comments
Good info on durability but do potential buyers a favor and tell us there is no turret cover for the elevation knob and no way to lock the adjustment dial. Can be moved very easily when using a sling, putting in a gun case, etc. Zero would change and you wouldn't know it. No problem if sitting at a bench punching holes in paper but no good for hunting. Water, dust, etc not good on uncovered turret. Focus adjust can't be locked.
I am wondering if this review is from the Steven above who said the scope broke after 200 rounds on a R1. Like I said on an earlier comment there seems to be no ryme or reason to scopes breaking or not breaking.
Things I would have changed:Better optical quality is needed for this scope. The parallax adjustment is very stiff and no matter how I adjusted mine it was never a sharp image. I was very disappointed in this scope since I paid double over a Leaper's version. I will not buy another Hawke scope again. What others should know:I have owned several Leaper's scopes that were bought for half the price and had better optical quality and a more responsive parallax adjustment both in feel and focus. Bottom line...I'm not impressed.
