In the Airgun Reporter video for the Browning 800 Mag pistol - the version prior to the Browning 800 Express release, Paul Capello shows a dot sight on the gun. That sight comes with a Weaver mount. This pistol does not have a Weaver has an 11mm base. To mount that sight or any Weaver accessory, mount an 11mm-to-Weaver adapter on this gun's 11mm scope grooves. We have 2 listed on the ACCESSORIES link on this page. Then, you can select Weaver-based dot sights, which are also shown on the ACCESSORIES link.

This is the most powerful spring-piston handgun made. This powerhouse is a fun shooter that you'll come to love. Use heavier pellets for increased accuracy. Put a dot sight or pistol scope on the grooved receiver to get the most accuracy from the Browning 800 Mag Express.

Things I liked:A very solid gun that feels good to hold. Accurate out of the box shooting Crosman Premier 10.5 grain round nose with open sights. The stock fiber optic sights are very easy to see.
Things I would have changed:I wish it had a Weaver mount as opposed to the 11mm dovetail. Very little recoil, but one of the louder pellet guns I own.
What others should know:I use this as a back yard plinker. My 7 year old son and I really enjoy shooting together, and he does well with this gun despite having trouble disengaging the safety. Get a nice sand bag rest, a tin or two of pellets, and have fun. This is a good quality, well made gun that will last. I also think it's a good value for the money.

Things I liked:most of the reviews said accuracy was good and my experience confirms that. I used Crossman premier and RWS powerpoint both would land in the same place and the group @ 30 feet was about 1/2". I was skeptical that a springer pistol, especially one that was potent, could be shot well one handed. This one proved me wrong.
Things I would have changed:The front sight is too tall and I had to move the rear sight up a lot to compensate and have little headroom left. I don't know if I would be able to use a heavy pellet at any greater distance. The front sight assembly is removeable and I plan to make a lower front sight.
What others should know:The recoil dampening system is effective and contributes to the ability to shoot well. This gun is BIG and heavy lots of iron but balances well.

Things I liked:The grips are prefect for me, smart grip design. Power of the .22 cal is 9ft/lbs (14.82 gr) average projection of pellets:528 fps (indoors) recoil reduction system works well, now improved, will not separate the grip from the upper assembly due to redundant internal safety feature. Auto safety. sights are easy on older light bulbs like mine (lol)
Things I would have changed:there's nothing bad to say about this gun, nor any need to change this design/ build .....
What others should know:this is a great deal for $150, look what you get: power, beauty, value, craftsmanship of Hatsan and the backing of Umarex !

    • Myron from USA asked:

Whats the difference between Browning 800 mag and Browning 800 Express? They each have a different box design. Are they the same pistol? I understand the 800 Mag was recalled in 2011 due to faulty safeties and repaired versions are marked with a P on the rear of the receiver. Could this have something to do with the box and name differences?

      • Tim from USA asked:

whats a good affordable scope and what mounts are the best

        • Myron from USA:

Anything but the china cheapee Walther as shown on the YouTube video. I wish the Pyramyd Air rep would have just demo-ed the pistol with its original out of the box, like it is, iron sights. And slower so we could see the action, anti recoil movments. I've gotten suckered into a few Walther red dots. The dot moves depending on where you look through it, due to poor optics or prism. You have to put your eye in the exact same spot every time with most Walthers. If your eyes a bit left, right, up or down from the last shot, forget it. Your aim will never be the same. Barska, BSA, Konus are pretty good and don't foul up like Walther's.

      • Gary from USA asked:

can this be fired with the cocking assist on the weapon. if so, will it decrease the velocity?

        • Edith from USA:

The cocking assist can be left on the gun when you shoot it. You don't have to remove it. In fact, the manual shows the cocking assist on the gun when cocking and loading and does not instruct you to remove it when you shoot the gun. It has no effect on velocity.

        • Stanley from USA:

The cocking assist is for cocking only, not a barrel extension.
