Caspian Baby Hi-Capa 3.8 Black Gas Pistol by Caspianreviews summary
Things I would have changed:Better retention for the o-ring on the bottom of the magazine for re-fill of gas. When it gets very cold durring heavy use & multiple propane gas re-fills, it will fall out. Still works, but with a little more gas loss during re-fill. As the Caspian Baby has a threaded barrel, I would like a thread protector for it. What others should know:Absolutely fantastic pistol. Great feel. I have 3 real Pistols (Full Size H&K USP Tactical .45, Full Size HK .45, & a Sub Compact H&K P2000SK in .357) and I will tell you that this Gas pistol is very realistic. It's been a while since I shot a .22, but probable about the same kick. Very accurate. As much or more fun to shoot than real thing. Easier to shoot as the slide racks much easier than real pistol (softer spring) & you can peg the heck out of your Son (I bought it for my Son). He wanted to have a skirmish and let me have the Caspian first. After about 5 minutes he was on our front porch hiding behind a wooden chair. I am a pretty decent shot anyway, so I broke the "don't shoot toward the house" rule (it's Brick anyway [I would not recomend shooting near siding unless you like holes in it]). I was about 50 feet away and well, he wont hide there any more. TSD WE has made a great pistol. It would take one heck of a demo to get me to buy anything other than TSD WE in a pistol. PS: You need to keep the mags warm to get a full 24 rounds out of one charge if you're continuously recharging with Propane.
Things I would have changed:Some parts on this gun are a little loose, which I guess could be a good or bad thing. The pin that holds the slide to the grip comes out pretty easily, but this makes it easier to field strip without any tools. When you pick up the gun and move around with it rattles a little, but no big deal. I would also make the hop-up stick a little more because after a while of shooting, it will work its way back down. One last thing is that the grip safety is not that great. If you do not have the grip safety depressed, you can still pretty easily pull to trigger. What others should know:The grip of the gun is actually a hard, maybe abs, plastic. It feels sturdy, but metal might have been nicer to have more weight in the back. Another that I have noticed is that propane will not work well in cold temperatures, and the gun will not fire all the rounds in the mag or the slide will not lock back if it is really cold. But I have only had this problem when I was out in the cold after 2 or 3 hours. Another thing is that I thought the tip on the end of the barrel would be plastic, but mine was threaded metal which I thought I should mention again. If you are looking at this gun I highly recomend it.
Things I would have changed:The rear sight could be a little "tighter" tolerance wise and put a white dot on the front sight. ...and this is a stretch, how do you remove (temporarly) the orange metal tip? What others should know:Have you ever wished that somebody would have told you to buy something before you bought all those other guns searching for perfection? Well... this is THAT gun. Although not perfect, it's almost and now I wish I had most of my money back on all those CO2 and springers I've recently purchased for more like this gun. The first five shots out of the box was a one-hole dime covering group. It felt like a real gun going off and the short, crisp trigger pull makes this a joy to shoot... you always know when it's going to fire. This thing is also cheap to shoot... I use campstove propane with a drop of silicon periodically. Get an extra mag or two, lotsa BB's. This was my first gas gun and I was apprehensive at first... where do you get green gas? Why are the guns so expensive? And since there's no brick and mortar store around here where I can learn or just handle the hardware, I was taking a chance. One day I just said to myself "shooting is what you like to do now, so just order a GBB and get it over with". I chose this one and have never regretted it. I'm sure the other WE Caspian and Hi-Capa's are just as nice and of high quality that you can reliably get any of them (3.8, 4.3, 5.1, A1's etc.). My two favorite's are now GBB's (this and my Walther PPK/S GBB) and I don't know if I'll ever buy a plastic CO2 again unless it's a replica of the real steel that I have. BTW, this thing is loud... and I love that (and the smell of propane in the morning).
