The Gamo Whisper air rifle has become one of the mainstays of airgunning. It's great to have the power to hunt without the usual loud report you'd get from such a powerful springer. If you're into hunting or pest elimination, this would be a great rifle to get the job done. This is the first time a Whisper has been offered as an underlever (fixed barrel).
The Custom Action Trigger is light years better than the previous version. It's smooth and predictable and allows you to tailor the trigger to your personal preferences. This should increase the accuracy potential of your air rifle because of greater predictability. The Shock Wave Absorber buttpad helps reduce the felt recoil, making a much more pleasant shooting experience.

Things I liked: Just got this yesterday. I've only taken about 15 shots, but it feels like a very nice rifle. The scope is great, as are the fiber optic sights. The nitro piston installation is awesome. Good accuracy out of the box, which I only expect to get better. Good trigger, which I haven't adjusted yet. The adjustable cheekpiece and suppressor are very nice finishing touches.
Things I would have changed: It's heavy for walking around. This is no problem for me, as I shoot using a bench rest. If you are looking to use this as a hunting rifle and will be moving around, you might want to look elsewhere.
What others should know: Overall, a great rifle so far. I expect for it to get better as it breaks in. You can't go wrong with this rifle!
Things I liked: I love this gun! I have had A LOT of airguns thru out the years and although this isn't my absolute favorite, it is pretty high on the list. I have always been on the fence about break barrel rifles but definitely like the Nitro piston technology and this rifle combines the best of both worlds. This gun will basically never wear out. I'll never have to worry about the barrel pivot wearing out or loosening up which we all know does happen and does affect accuracy with break barrels. Also, I'll never have to worry about the spring weakening over time. Another thing worth mentioning is the ease of cocking with this gun. It's true that this gun may be a little weaker than other nitro piston air rifles but that is a good thing when you consider breaking the sound barrier destroys accuracy. I dream of one day owning a quality made lever action BB rifle with a small nitro piston instead of a spring. A NP Red Rider made in the USA would be awesome!
Things I would have changed: The trigger feels good but it is plastic. I do not like a plastic trigger on any gun but a Glock.
What others should know: This rifle is sort of picky when it comes to ammo. After about 50 rounds it should be broken in enough to start expecting good accuracy. After that start experimenting with different brands, weights, and shapes of pellets. So far I have found that the RWS Supermag field line and JSB Exact Monster pellets to be the most accurate. But for me, the funnest thing about getting a new air gun is sighting in the scope and finding just the right ammo.
Things I liked: This rifle feels great with the adjustable stock and pistol grip. I am very impressed with the accuracy right out of the box. Didn't have to wait to put 100 rounds through to achieve 1" placement at 50'in my indoor range. Have not taken it outside for longer range testing but expect that will be excellent also. The scope that came with the gun is better than I expected. Very good optics.
Things I would have changed: Only one thing.. it is louder that I expected of a Nitro Piston.
What others should know: I have been waiting to pull the trigger on a Nitro piston under barrel lever cocking rifle and finally did on this one and am glad I did.
Regarding the Crosman Nitro Piston... does anyone know if this is NP or NP2?
Do you know when the .22 version will hit the Us?
can i shoot squirrels at 20 yards with this gun?
Yes .177 is a flat shooting round. I use a 10.5 grain in my Hunter Extreme.
