John Wayne Lil Duke BB Rifle
Throughout his iconic film career, John Wayne trail-blazed across the silver screen, captured hearts worldwide, and portrayed courage in the face of all odds, as only he could. To honor the Duke's legacy, Air Venturi presents the Officially Licensed John Wayne Lil' Duke .177 Caliber Lever-Action BB Rifle. Aimed at beginners and younger airgunners, this lever-action repeater is a great way for pint-sized shooters to get involved in shooting sports, and start plinking away with a very user-friendly gun.
The 'Lil' Duke now includes Air Venturi's new LASSO Scope Mount which adds a 3/8 inch dovetail rail to the rifle accept a scope. This unique rifle features a stained wood stock etched with the Duke's likeness and the words "Lil' Duke" across the fore-grip. The big man's signature stands out in high relief on the action of the gun. Its large loop cocking mechanism makes for one of the easiest guns to cock and lock. The gun has a 550 shot capacity and launches BBs downrange at speeds up to 350 fps; perfect for knocking down cans and shredding paper targets.
BBs can ricochet. The shooter and everyone in the shooting area should wear safety glasses when a gun is being handled (even if it's unloaded). Remember to remove all pets from the area, as rebounding ammo can hit them, too. Never shoot steel BBs at hard objects (including metal targets) or water, as that increases the chance of ricochet.

Things I liked: -Overall feel of the gun is about perfect for a plinker (I'm 6ft 220 pounds with shorter arms and thick fingers) -Front forearm is about the perfect size for my large hands -Aesthetically pleasing
Things I would have changed: Needs a metal cocking lever or a harder plastic type, as the lever on in flexes a ton.
What others should know: I bought the Lil Duke when it first came out a couple of weeks ago. I was pretty stoked about the wide loop lever etc. . I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this gun. -Lever is plastic and flexy (not a hard plastic like the Daisy plastic levers) -ratchet cocking mechanism is finicky it doesn't like to cock the last notch needed to fire -the stock should have never made it past quality control. It has an ugly seem of wide grain (possible crack) near the bottom. Not a terrible thing as I intended to use it for plinking, but I'm sure most who buy this gun want it for display. -The WORST thing is I cannot get it to feed and shoot. It will shoot 1 shot and the take me between 20-30 cocks and fires before it manages to chamber another bb. -It is riveted together so you can't easily take it apart.
Things I liked: Looks good on mt Daisy wall rack. Real wood is kind of expensive these days. Hoop handle is a hoot. Mostly wood and metal.
Things I would have changed: Make it shoot as well as a less expensive Red Rider
What others should know: I cant understand why this thing will not shoot straight ? I've tried everything you can do to a 9.5 inch barrel.
Things I liked: I love the gun wish I would have put the scope on it. For me the shipping to Canada is very costly or I would buy more product.
Things I would have changed: Nothing make sure you add the scope
What others should know: Maybe include the scope and a lower price

Does this come with a collectible, colorful box or is it shipped with a plain brown cardboard box?
It comes in a 4 color box that is pretty neat.
The standard Red Ryder is available in a bundle that includes Smart Shot copper-clad lead BBs. Does this mean the Red Ryder no longer uses a magnet in its action?
The Red Ryder still uses a magnet, that kit has been adjusted accordingly.
Are the smart shot BB's any more accurate than the match grade Avanti's ?
Well I haven't yet tried Avanti BB's in my Duke yet but I can tell you that Smart Shot don't seem anymore accurate than the three other bb's I've tried, Marksman Premiums, Daisy Precision Max and Daisy Max Speed. However they are nice in that ricochets are minimized considerably and they do seem to tame the powerplant in the Duke compared to the other bb's in terms of fps is a bit more consistent. The bore of the barrel seems large and if you can come up with a larger than average bb I suspect it would do better in the accuracy department.
