Wood stain on the stock and checkering may be lighter or darker than the above image.

The Tech Force TF89 Contender Series is one sweet breakbarrel air rifle! The crisp open sights are definitley a cut above the rest. The rear sight is fully adjustable and has a fine scale for the windage adjustment and a crisp thumbwheel for elevation. The beech stock is beautiful and very well-made. Reddish overtones enhance the rich, dark brown color and the pistol grip and forearm are covered with two generous panels of fine checkering. The Contender 89 is not only beautiful, it's very powerful, shooting at 1100 fps in .177 and very accurate (we got 1099 fps with RWS Hobby pellets)! At 30 yards, the c-t-c group measured 0.442 inches.

Things I liked:

Very accurate, not very hold sensitive, powerful

Things I would have changed:

At this price, nothing

What others should know:

One of the most accurate spring guns I have tried. Out shoots RWS 34 pro compact, on par with RWS 34 regular version. Smooth also, not real loud.

Things I liked:

Not too heavy, cocking effort isn't bad at all, triggers on both of mine are crisp and clean, extremely accurate with Polymags, not terribly hold sensitive

Things I would have changed:

A version with a shorter barrel

What others should know:

I've got two of these both in .22, one shoots 800-805 and the other 795-800 average both with Crosman Premiers. I recently chopped the barrel on one to 12" and hold sensitivity seems to be a thing of the past, .5" groups with Polys at 30 yards are no problem. Overall this is a great deal for the money. Out of the box it's solid but I'd bet a cheap tune would let this rifle hold it's own against the more expensive rifles in it's power range

Things I liked:

Decent build quality for money. Nice gun overall. Not too heavy so good for kids to shoot. Pyramyd Air had this on sale so it was a steal!

Things I would have changed:

Nada

What others should know:

Bought this for my 12 year old nephew. Only shot 50 rounds or so but so far happy with purchase. Pyramyd Air is awesome to deal with!

  • Michael from USA asked:

I have a CVLIFE scope 3-9X40 will this mount on with a dovetail to weaver mounting system and work? Also how much recoil does this gun have?

    • Quinton from USA answered:

If you've ever shot a Crosman Quest (or another .177 rated at 1000 with lead, or a .22 rated at 800) it's maybe twice that. It's not jerky though, it's more of a solid thump

  • Bob from USA asked:

What reasonable red dot scope would you recommend for this rifle.

    • Bob from USA answered:

      Thank you

    • Tyler Patner from USA answered:

I would not recommend one. Most red dots are not rated to stand up to the recoil of a springer. But I would recommend looking at the UTG red dots, that would be your best bet.
