This version of the Discovery includes the gun and the Benjamin 3-stage hand pump with an attached hose that has a female Foster quick-disconnect fitting on the end. Connect the Foster fitting on the end of the hose to the air reservoir on the rifle. To exhaust air or CO2 from the rifle, you need to purchase the degasser tool.
Get into precharged guns at an unheard-of price and also get the accuracy of an expensive European rifle!
Benjamin has bridged the gap and taken the pain out of PCP guns. Not only is this as low a price as you'll ever find on a PCP/hand pump combo, but it's so easy to pump up that a wispy teenager could do it!
If you prefer to use a scuba tank instead of the hand pump, you'll need a scuba tank adapter with hose and a female quick-disconnect with male threads. The last item already comes with this kit. The adapter fits tanks with a K valve.
The Discovery has raised the bar for PCP guns because it uses only 2000 psi of air. While the European companies race toward higher and higher air pressures, Benjamin is going the opposite direction and making it easier than ever to use a hand pump. If you want to use a scuba tank or carbon fiber tank, you can do that, too, and get the benefit of many more fills than you would from a gun that operates with 3000 psi. The Discovery gives you a choice!
The gun comes with a hardwood stock, Williams fiber optic front and rear sights, and a built-in air pressure gauge. Included in the package is a hand pump that's easy to use and very clear on showing you when you've reached maximum operating pressure.
When you open your box, you'll see easy-to-follow and easy-to-understand instructions that'll lead you step-by-step. If you're an experienced PCP user, you'll soon see that the Discovery is the easiest PCP you've ever used. If you're new to PCPs, you'll become a pro in just a few short steps.
If you want to switch to CO2, that's easy to do. A degasser tool lets you quickly and safely exhaust all the high-pressure air (or you can just shoot the air out). Attach the optional CO2 adapter, connect it to a standard paintball CO2 tank and fill 'er up! Now, commence to shootin'!
With high-pressure air, you'll get about 35 powerful shots before you need to pump up again. On CO2, you'll get a lot more.
The Discovery is made in America.
Click on the AMMO link for a list of recommended pellets. The ACCESSORIES link has a list of fun targets and safety gear you'll need.

Surely over time that snap on plastic cap is going to get loose and be a problem staying on. What others should know:Can't go wrong here for the money. Get the gun, scope, and pump package, it is truly the best value for the money. My first PCP and I choose a winner. I am addicted now and already looking at what my next two or three PCP's will be.

[Translation provided by a Pyramyd Air employee: Great compressed air rifle with very good presentation, great fit and finish. Relatively light weight. Safe for minors but this is not a toy. Excellent rifle, this is my first PCP and I think this rifle offers great advantages for this kind of loading system.] Things I would have changed:Practicamente nada y si hubiera que agregarle algo, bueno un sistema regulador de presión low y full, dependiendo del uso, ya sea usado en interior o al aire libre o en cacería por ejemplo. [Translation provided by a Pyramyd Air employee: Practically none and if I had to add something, well, a low and full pressure regulator, depending on the use, whether used indoors, outdoors or hunting.] What others should know:Mi nombre Juan Espinoza de Santiago de Chile. [Translation provided by a Pyramyd Air employee: My name is Juan Espinoza from Santiago de Chile. This is a very powerful gun, the loading is not very heavy opposed to what I had read, it is very simple, maybe slow but light weight, even a minor can load it completely to the 2000 PSI with no problems. In my personal case, I shot the rifle getting close to 30 rounds per filling and even to the last shot the rifle is still as accurate as the first shot, practically you don't see any loss of pressure with the impact. I use Gamo PS 18 grain, and they can penetrate a pinewood panel of 3/4" from 25 meters without any problem.]

The rifle could have one more barrel strap at the front sight area. It does not seem to hurt the accuracy. What others should know:Rifle is lite weight, tough, accurate and worth the money. WATCH OUT VARMINTS!!

I purchased the combo with scope and pump, it provided the best value for my dollar. As an old retired Soldier I have to make every dollar count. I installed the scope and pumped the Discovery up to 2000 psi. I fired 3 shots from my rifle vise on a 4x4 piece of cardboard with a Beeman target in the center at 50 yards. I adjusted the scope to the center of the low right 1/2 inch group. I refired and my next 3 shots were three 10's. No flyers. My next target of opportunity was a Grackle at appx 50 yards. One shot 1 bird down. Sounds like a fishermans story but 2 more birds followed the first. Three 1 shot kills after zeroing the Leapers scope. I fired about 20 pellets before the power began to fall off even though the pressure was still at 1000 psi. I repumped the rifle to 2000 psi and succeeded in downing 3 more birds, all at appx 50 yards. I really like this rifle. As an old retired Soldier I really like rifles and this one is a good value. Lots of power.
Things I would have changed:I don't care for the plastic trigger however it is set at about 5 pounds with little or no creep. An adjustable trigger like the one on my HW50S would be nice. Loading pellets is difficult, a 5 shot clip like the one on my Daisy 853C would be nice. A rubber recoil pad would be nice instead of plastic to keep the rifle from slipping around while on the shoulder.
I will order a Benjamin Maurader as soon as they become available. What others should know:This is a good starter PCP gun. My Discovery does not like the pointed field tip pellets. The Crosman Premier hollow point pellets that came with the rifle are very accurate. My rifle has nice wood. I had to remove the rear sight to install the Leapers scope. This rifle is loud as a conventional 22 long rifle gun when fired between buildings.

I'd like it to be bigger. I wish it came with preinstalled sling swivel attachments. What others should know:My 13 yr old has a little difficulty pumping it up. Strength is not a issue, but he's just not heavy enough for those last few pumps. He ends up lifting himself up rather than pushing the pump down. You may need to remove the rear sight when mounting a scope. Beeman discovery pellets shot best for me.

Lost of shooting with little up front work. Nice scope, nearly dead on from the box .Good fit and finish. Well worth the money. Things I would have changed:Don't care for the plastic trigger. I will make a new one from metal. Replaced the trigger return spring with a lighter spring. This made a HUGE difference. Load port could be bigger. What others should know:If you are just getting started with PCP buy this setup.

Easy to hit squirrel size targets at 50 yards. Things I would have changed:Loading port is a tad small. Trigger could be better. Disassembly is simple so I took it apart and worked on the trigger. Now has a smooth trigger in 3 - 3.5 lb pull range. Probably took less than 10 minutes to do this. What others should know:Put a good scope on this. I bought a leapers 4 X 16 x 50 AO and high mounts and this combo is still under 7.5 lbs. Excellent combo from short range all the way out to as far as you can hit.
I also highly recommend a scuba tank and yoke adapter. Makes shooting this much more fun. The tank seems to last forever before needing refilled.
Finally, do NOT ignore the fact that this uses CO2! I get 25 - 35 good shots with air, but with a full fill of CO2 I get 80 - 100 good shots. And velocity is still good enough you can take small game out to about 35 yards with it. And of course it is still very accurate with CO2.
You also need good strong traps shooting indoors with this gun at short ranges. I ruined 3 steel traps using only CO2 which shoots about 100 - 175 fps slower than air. If you are going to shoot indoors you need a .22 rifle trap. And even with that don't use air indoors. The noise is quite loud and lead splatter puts a LOT of fine lead dust into the air.
If you must shoot indoors with air, buy or make a trap which uses ballistic putty. You need at least 3 - 4 inches thick and you need to pick pellets from the putty every 200 rounds max.

BUY IT AND QUIT PLAYIN AROUND! pyramid is an exellent company for service also. Toodles!

Scope rings need to be higher - scope can interfere with barrel. I needed to shim scope to get it into the adjustment range of the scope itself. What others should know:I bought the .22 cal version. It chronographs as advertised. I wanted an air rifle for pest control on my small 2 acre place. Since it is in a city, I cannot use my regular .22. The gun kit was delivered on time as advertised. It performed well except for the scope problem above which I cured with shims. I would prefer see through rings for scope mounting. The original gun I received stared to leak down overnight. I returned it to Pyramyd and they sent me a replacement with no hassle. Good customer service but you pretty much have to do it via e-mail. Hard to get the right people on the phone.

On my rifle, the stock had a raised bump on the underside. It had fairly poor blueing but it was ok. I had to whipe some thick gunk off of the meatal surfaces. There were to deep scratches on my barrel. The barrel needs a second band because it moves at the end but really wont effect performance. My bolt has some very spall dots of rust on it. Now, the scope is not the best. It had some white substance on it and the clicks are not crisp or clean. The zero locking device is just a pain. You should buy high mounts so you dont have to take the sights off to mount it and then shave down the bottom of the flip opens otherwise the flip opens will be pushed up againsed the barrel forcing you to take the scope off so you can adjust the focus. What others should know:Dont let this put you off of buying it. Im sure I just got a "not perfect" scope and gun. It still shoots very well. I find the best all around pellets in .22 are RWS Superdomes.

I want good shooters sold over-the-counter, so I have high standards for rifle performance. The Benjamin Discovery .177 cal is my first PCP rifle and the Discovery really exceeded my expectations. I have experience with two springers, the Crosman Quest 1000 and the Gamo Nitro 17. The Crosman I sold and the Gamo I kept because it lived up to my expectations. The Gamo Nitro 17 shoots almost as well as the Discovery. The major difference is recoil, trigger press and shot consistency. The Gamo, like all springers, has significant recoil and the Discovery has none. The trigger press on the Gamo is heavy and the Discovery is lighter and smoother. The Gamo always shoots the same velocity because it's cocked between every shot and the Discovery velocity changes as air pressure drops.
The Discovery is an excellent air rifle. My main concern, before I bought, was the price. I compared the pricing to real rifles. Don't do that. Compare it to other PCP rifles and it will diminish your sticker shock. This rifle is a solid, well made unit and I love the fit and feel. I use my for pest control and hunting and I can use it close to home without freaking out my neighbors.
In terms of effectiveness, I dropped a ground squirrel at 51 yards, which even surprised me. I used my range finder to verify the distance. I've always been a little suspicious of claimed shot distances in customer postings, so let me say that mine was certainly a lucky shot. I've missed plenty a lot closer.
Things I would have changed:Benjamin, traditionally, makes a small bolt and breach, which makes loading a little awkward with man-sized fingers. I'd liked to see that changed but it will probably never happen. The other thing is the CenterPoint scope. I don't like the windage and elevations dials. They're too difficult to adjust quickly in the field. Carry the hex wrench with you. The scope flip covers are OK but the front one is too snug to the barrel and must be completely removed to adjust for parallax. Not a big deal to me because I take them completely off anyway when shooting. I use them like traditional scope covers. Don't expect them to work as indicated. What others should know:Air rifles, just like real rifles have ammo preferences. Different ammo brands will probably shoot differently in different rifles. I tested several types of .177 cal pellets and found that the most accurate in my Discovery were the Benjamin Discovery .177 Cal, 10.5 Grains, Hollowpoint and Beeman Silver Arrow Pointed Pellets .177 Cal, 11.50 Grains. The Discovery pellets edged out the Beeman for accuracy but I prefer the Beeman because of its effectiveness on game. The other pellets test, Gamo and Crosman, were all over the paper.
The air pump is rock solid and looks like it will last forever. The problem is it takes a lot of pumping to fill and re-fill the Discovery. It's hard work and will negatively effect your shooting. I advise you to get the SCUBA tank setup which painlessly allows you to fill your gun in seconds.

Things I would have changed: Make it quieter, make pumping less tiresome, a metal trigger would be nice, incorporate a 5 shot manual clip to make loading easier, faster and less cumbersome one similar to that on the Crosman 664SB. Move the safety to the front of the trigger guard. What others should know:The Benjamin Discovery is loud and I don't recommend it for backyard shooting if you live in an urban area. It is shipped packaged with a small sample purse full of Benjamin Discovery Hollow Points which I recommend you purchase more of. This air rifle is insanely accurate I'm shooting dime size groups at 35 yards with Benjamin Discovery Hollow Points. Other pellets that worked well were Crosman Premier Domed which performed just as well but I prefer hollow points for squirrel hunting, JSB predator pellets were a little bit less accurate (quarter size groups at 35 yards) but when you hit your target the pellets utterly devastate flesh and bone. It takes about 115 pumps to initially filler up and you get around 35 full power shots before you have to repump around 1000 psi. Personally I cant put this rifle down, the first day I put 500 pellets through it! My right index finger and thumb were stained with lead and my hand was sore from cocking it so much not to mention my arms were numb from pumping all day, talk about a workout! Its a great rifle and you wont regret purchasing it. By the way Pyramydair shipped quickly and customer service was excellent.
