Want to save? Get the RWS 34 Panther with a 4x32mm scope!
The most popular rifle sold by RWS now comes in a black stock made from a durable, all-weather injection-molded synthetic. This German rifle will keep you shooting accurately and powerfully for decades. While it doesn't have some of the frills that more expensive guns have, it goes head-to-head where it really counts!
The well-balanced stock makes it easy to hold and shoot the RWS 34. Quality is evident in other places, too: a two-stage adjustable trigger, fiber optic front and rear (fully adjustable) sights, and a finely rifledThe inside of a barrel containing a spiral pattern of high and low areas that grab the projectile and impart a spin to it as it passes through. The most common type of rifling is called lands (the higher areas) and grooves (the lower areas).
barrel. No need to worry about cocking difficulty, as that's where this rifle really shines (just 33 lbs.). It's ideal for plinking, paper targets and spinners. If you're a serious airgunner on a budget, the RWS 34 was made for you!
RWS is known for standing behind their guns, and their warranty has always been viewed as the best in the business.
We've recommended a variety of appropriate pellets, which are listed in the AMMOSlang for ammunition: The entire set of materials needed to shoot a given gun. It might be a cartridge (in the case of a firearm) or just a pellet (in the case of an airgun).

Things I liked:The plastic on the stock was done very well and the scope seems to be working as well. Even though the scope is only a 4x32, its clear, fits well and if you mount it correctly - holds together without coming loose. The overall build quality of the Panther is great and what I would expect from a German made gun. Its a big reason I chose the RWS in the first place - a good, solid, accurate gun for under $300. Great choice.
Things I would have changed:I couldn't get the fibre optic sights to shoot worth a damn. No real issue because I was going to mount the scope on it regardless. Perhaps I didn't spend enough time messing around with them to get them to work properly. Mechanisms and trigger action feels a bit rough, but everyone knows that this will smooth out naturally the more the gun is shot over the next few months.
What others should know:If you read enough of these reviews you begin to see a few things. First, it's a 'spring' airgun. This means that you need to be aware of what it takes to cock them, hold them accurately and know what it takes to keep the scopes mounted on them. Cocking effort for the Panther is fine for a high-powered air gun, holding the Panther just in front of the trigger guard keeps it accurate and I used the RWS "C" mount rings (which came with the scope) which have given me no issues whatsoever after about 500 rounds. Second thing to be aware of is the build quality of the different brands. This is a German made air gun and shows it. It's at the cheaper end of the RWS line, but it's not nasty. I have a tendency to buy from companies who finish as well as overall functionality.
Bottom line - if you are wondering whether or not this is the gun for you - go ahead and buy the Pather 34 with scope. I don't think you can find anything better in this price range for what this gun can do.

Things I liked:Very accurate with RWS pellets. weight is nice.I bought this as an open box and am very happy with quality.
Things I would have changed:Scope mount is overly complicated and allen wrench does not fit well and stripped out right off the bat.
What others should know:Great rifle! I will get the .22 next

Things I would have changed:The allen wrench which came with the scope rounded off before the mounts were tight. The reviews I had read listed this as a short coming which held true. However, it's the only complaint I have with the rifle.
What others should know:The pressure required to cock the rifle is significant, but I knew that before I bought the rifle. Sighting in will take a while, but I have had no problems since.

Things I liked:fiber optic sights are great, very clear even in shadowy situations. The composite stock is nicely detailed, and should be less prone to weather damage. Trigger pull is just right for me, but can be adjusted. The power of this rifle is awesome, and with hunting pellets I have made clean kills of two groundhogs and one porcupine...at about 30 yards...very impressive knockdown power.
Things I would have changed:Weight...quite heavy. Cocking mechanism is very stiff and hard to handle. Scope still rattles from side to side, even after mount is tightened, and needs constant tightening after shooting. Tends to shoot low, with scope and with iron sights, probably because of droop barrel?
What others should know:Don't overtighten scope mount to barrel...I did and stripped the allen wrench hole in mounting screw. Be ready to spend some time correcting scope and iron sight pictures...I think because you have to kind of overcompensate for droop barrel on this rifle. All said and done, this is a very nice pellet gun and quite accurate after initial settings. I highly recommend it!
