5 of 5 Crosman Precision Sight Set, Globe Reviews
The is the best sporter sight for the Daisy 888/887 series as well as the T200s. Why have your shooters shoot a lesser sight? Don't give up any points. --jhmartin
the knobs are okay
Things I Would Have Changedremove play in the block holding the screw-in aperture; this movement makes it unusable in any rifle that has recoil; even in a recoil-less rifle, touching the aperture or shade can move the zero by several MOA; my copy also originally mounted canted (I had to adjust the dovetail with pliers)
What Others Should Knowunless I open this up and add some spacers to remove the play/movement, I find that I cannot use it as it is (I like 1-hole groups)
Although I gave this sight package 5 stars in both catagories it's clearly not Awsome, it's just the best sight, thats eligable for sporter competition, at anywhere near the pirce. It appears to be a copy of an older Fein Work Bau model that was standard on the FWB 300. It features positive clicks, doesn't have noticable backlash or slop and does what is required in a workmanlike fashion. It's miles better (made in Spain by Gamo) than any examples of the cheaper Daisy Avanti (made in China) sight that I have seen. Yes, it's relative expenive, but still I haven't found anything better at anywhere near the price. It not a "precision" made piece but it does the job well enough. The front sight is quite good. Again not "precision" but certainly adequate. Inserts are good but additional sizes would be appreciated.
Things I Would Have ChangedFit and finish are OK, The detent (click) mechanism seems cheezy but it does the job. Possible finer adjustment (more clicks per inch) but that will only be a problem for shooters who are at a high competetive level. I feel that, for the quality, the price is a bit high but there's no competition to drive it down.
What Others Should KnowDefinately the least expensive quality target sights that are elegible for Sporter competition. I've had two examples of the Chinese version and they were hopeless. If you're on a tight budget, the Daisy 5899 is not a bad choice. It's mostly plastic and not as durable but it works well. It needs to be paired (it's unstable if adjusted high enough to work with the Crosman front sight) with the Daisy 853 front sight/barrel weight. It's the right height and is functional but of pretty dismal quality.
Still made in Spain, which was recommended on two 10M Forums. Came with two 3.8mm, one 41.mm and one 4.4m front aperture discs and front rail mount hood. Holds zero well. Easy to use.
Things I Would Have ChangedPerhaps two more front aperture discs like a 3.6mm and a 4.6mm or 4.8mm. Perhaps 10 to 20 dollars off would make them more competative nowdays. Still worth the money as long as they work good.
What Others Should KnowStill hard to beat a good AO scope, but still the best 10M target sights I've used. Probably the AF Edge sights could be better, but the crosman would be the minumum for any 10M shooter.

I like the durability of the rear sight.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe front sight is very sensitive and the connection to the barrel can easily be broken. It took a while for Pyramyd Air to work the purchase order and I was extremely frustrated with the wait.
What Others Should KnowBe extremely careful with the front sight. The connection to the barrel will break off and do not tighten too tight.
