Beeman RX-2 Air Rifle, No Sights by Beemaninformation | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| One of the more powerful guns in the Beeman line, the RX-2 isn't a traditional spring gun. Instead of a coiled steel spring, the piston is filled with air. It's like the gas spring that holds up the back door of a minivan or hatchback car. Instead of compressing a steel spring, you're compressing a column of air. You don't have to fill the gas spring because no air ever leaves it. When you go hunting with a gun that has a gas spring, you never have to worry about the spring taking a "set." When you cock a gun with a metal spring, you're supposed to shoot it right away. If you leave it cocked too long (and do that too many times), the spring loses strength, remains more compressed when it's uncocked and delivers lower power. That won't happen with a gas spring! In any caliber, the RX-2 makes a great hunting rifle. In .22 cal., it delivers over 20 foot-pounds. Includes 1" scope rings, medium profile, vertical scope stop in one ring, 2 screws per base & 4 screws per ring cap. The breakbarrel mechanism of the RX-2 is just like the one you'd find on a gun with a metal spring. Dressed in a laminated Monte Carlo stock with a raised cheekpiece, the rifle has a long forearm, grip cap and white line spacers in the buttpad. The 11mm grooves make it a cinch to install a scope. High-quality workmanship is evident all around, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a gun made as well. Don't forget to pick up a variety of specially recommended pellets, which are listed in the AMMO link. Our ACCESSORIES link lists scopes that can take the power of the RX-2, as well as some targets, cleaning gear and safety glasses. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Beeman RX-2 Air Rifle, No Sights by Beemanreviews summary
Things I would have changed:This will not make sense to most, but ditch the safety. I did actually, if you take both the pins out you can remove the re-setting lever and safety pin. I have always been taught that your finger is your safety, never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot and have always been safe. I have much more lethal guns without a safety, never understood it on an airgun, it just makes you miss your shot. What others should know:I have no complaints about the cocking effort, but my fiance literally cannot do it. She likes to shoot it but can't cock it. It IS Heavy! Shooting off hand requires a reverse lock in left hand and lots of endurance buildup. Plan on getting a tough scope for this bad boy, I heard that it has been known to kill Leupolds that are not air rifle rated. I'm satisfied with my Hawke so far, only about 1500 rounds have hammered it though... But if you want a big springer that shoots like a tuned gun out of the box, this is it! Comments
Jake--While I agree that the shooter is the ultimate safety, we don't recommend that people go into a rifle and remove pins to alter the automatic safety. While you may be handy, not everyone is, and that could result people altering the wrong things and may even make the gun unsafe. Altering the safety would void the manufacturer's warranty.
Things I would have changed:For now, not a whole lot, as we are just getting to know one another. What others should know:I will still prefer the R-9 for hitting the woods...weight mainly. On the other hand, I shall remain optimistic that the RX will totally divorce that elusive wood chuck_just around the corner. Comments
My experience with the Beeman has been as enjoyable as yours, with one exception: I have not so far, in 5 years, found a method of mounting a good Bushnell scope to the 11mm dovetail that doesn't move within 250-500 shots. I have tried combinations of adjustable mounts, LocTite, hardened self-locking screws, additional "bumper stops", you name it! I would welcome any help from anyone who has solved this problem...
Things I would have changed:Not much. I got mine several years ago before the price went up to where it is now. Closing on $800 is a significant amount of money for an airgun for most people. Add good bases, rings, and a scope that will standup to the recoil jolt of this rifle and you are looking at well over $1000. Not that that's bad, but it's creeping out of the affordability range of many people, especially for a gun that's designed almost exclusively for hunting. What others should know:Cocking effort is hard. This rifle is heavy and LONG and thick. I have dedicated benchrest style centerfire varmint rifles that weigh less than this rifle complete with scope and base.
