The most popular rifle sold by RWS, this German rifle will keep you shooting accurately and powerfully for decades. While it doesn't have some of the frills that more expensive guns have, it goes head-to-head where it really counts! The well-balanced hardwood stock makes it easy to hold and shoot the RWS 34. Quality is evident in other places, too: a two-stage adjustable trigger, fiber optic sights (fully adj. rear) and a finely rifled barrel. No need to worry about cocking difficulty, as that's where this rifle really shines (just 33 lbs., although our own tests showed just 30 lbs.). Both calibers are ideal for plinking, paper targets and spinners. Like to hunt? The .22 cal. should be your choice for small game and pests. If you're a serious airgunner on a budget, the RWS 34 was made for you!

RWS is known for standing behind their guns, and their warranty has always been viewed as the best in the business.

We've recommended a variety of appropriate pellets, which are listed in the AMMO link. Click on the ACCESSORIES link to select from a variety of suggested scopes, mounts and other shooting gear.

The RWS 34 now has the TO6 trigger. A trigger this good isn't usually found in guns at this price range.

Things I liked:What can I say? This is the springer that all others are compared to. It's slim, light, powerful enough for anything I care to tackle with a .22 air rifle, and it's plenty accurate.
Things I would have changed:A genuine walnut stock would be nice!
What others should know:I've read a few complain about the fiber optic sights, not an issue with me, and you can always scope it if they're not to your liking.

Things I liked:The size, weight and feel of full size rifle.
Things I would have changed:Provide a lower front sight blade that would work with the barrel droop that seems to be built into this model.
What others should know:I had to return the first RWS 34 that I received because the open sights would not adjust far enough. It was very accurate (better than the second gun shipped to me) but it shot 3 below the aim point at 20 yards. The rear sight came apart on one shot as I was trying to get it to maximum height, I have since heard that RWS has different front blades available (I don't know if this is true or not) that I would have liked to use if it is true. I did some research and thought about shimming the rear sight but I decided to send it back because I felt like a new gun should not need to be redesigned. The second gun will adjust far enough but the adjusting knob is only a couple of threads into the nut.

    • Estil from USA asked:

The specifications list the weight of the wooden stock version at 7.5 lbs and the synthetic stock version at 7.75 lbs. Are these numbers correct?

      • Chevota from USA:

I can't speak for this gun but it's probably correct. Most other brands I have the syn stock is heavier. My Trail syn is 24oz heavier than the wood version, if you can imagine that.

can I order front &rear sights fir my diana model 36

      • Tyler from USA:

You would need to contact Umarex USA for sights for a 36.

    • Michael from USA asked:

Hi! I Got my RWS 34 a couple weeks now and just started to get some shots out. My question is," do most shooters seat the pellet or just push it into the breach?". If you do seat the pellet, how far do you seat it? Thank You, Mike

      • Chevota from USA:

Imo you should only seat it with your finger like Michael said. The reason is not for accuracy, but to allow the gun to build more pressure internally so the piston doesn't slam into the breech as hard. That slam is what breaks scopes. Plus it usually nets more power. For the same reason it' better to use mid to heavier pellets. I think ~8.4gr in 177, and 14.3 in 22 should be minimum weights in this gun, lighter typically gives no advantage but is harder on the scope. If no scope then no worries, but those weights still work better all around.

      • Michael from USA:

Just use your finger and the soft tissue area will push it in enough. No need to buy a gimmick item to do this. Unless you just want to buy something.

      • Val from USA:

Well, there is a short answer and long answer. Short answer is - experiment! Depends on the pellet (its skirt) and your barrel. If you have a .22 cal: get this adjustable pellet seater, if you have .177 then use this .177 one.
