Things I liked: The rifle its self is very nice. Solid design. I have the .22 version, but I guess these are no longer being producded. Very quite compared to others. Resonable price for the whole package
Things I would have changed: The scope, or option to buy without the scope. From the other reviews I've read- seems like the centerpoint scope is the weak link- and the same held true with mine. Alot of people seem to report the site drifts and won't hold zero when shooting even at 20-30 yds. Mine was the same, scope would finally start to group at 30 yds after much effort then would drop off to an area 3-4 inches away (after 250 round through it).
What others should know: Though this may be an after-the-fact review since you can't buy these anymore, as someone who just bought one, the reviews helped out when considering trouble shooting. I'm going to take others adivce and try a reasonably priced Leaper's scope and see the results. I don't think the gun is the problem- from the large number of reviews regarding the scope- I believe its the scope.
Things I liked: This review is for the .177 caliber. Attached scope and zeroed indoors at 15yds. 1st shots 5" low 3" right. Fired 20 times hitting consistant same spot. Adjusted scope, pattern moved to 2"low 1"right. fired 20+ rounds hitting consistant. Readjusted hitting bullseye. Shot 20+ rounds all in bullseye 1" group. Moved to new 15yd target and shot constant 3/8 groups. 1 shot of 5 away from 1/4" group but still touching other 4. Moved to 40yd range no adjustmnet and the gun shot 1" groups 3" high consitantly. This means at 15yds the round was at the beginning of its tradjectory climb. Testing at further distance will require moving to a new shooting location. This air gun is a bit sensitive side to side when shooting even from sand bags but is very accurate. I shot 8.44 grn JSB Match Diablo pellets for the sight in and testing as recommended by another test I found on line. I did try 13.43 JSB Match Diablo Monster Diablo pellets as recommended by Pyramyd with the thought of critter control. The heavier pellets hit 5 inches lower and the sound was a definite indicator that 5 grns makes a big difference in velocity. All in all this airgun is very accurate.
Things I would have changed: The barrel is very heavy to break. Most women and children would not be able to break it open. The break barrel occasionally grinds a bit. I see that you can get a washer/spacer kit from Charlie Da Tuna that will help rectify the occasional grinding feeling while cocking. I have let off and tarted the cocking process again when feeling the slight grinding and it seems to help. Possibly some dry graphite or something of that matter at the hinge point might help. Go to the GTA forums for help! Also, after you shoot the air gun for a while you will wish the trigger was a bit better. This too can be rectified with a Charlie Da Tuna trigger. Again go to the GTA forums.
What others should know: Be deliberate in attaching the scope! Make sure the stop screw in the scope base is centered in the stop hole on the receiver. Tighten the scope base screws a few turns each, tightening them all gradually. Before tightening the scope ring screws completely, make sure you sight through the scope and move the scope forwards or to the rear to adjust to your comfortable shouldering position and eye releif position. Make sure the horizontal cross hair is level without cant. Again tighten all of the screws a bit at a time so the rings seat evenly. Re-check all of the screws. Once I mounted the scope it never moved!Be sure to watch the Pyramyd video on Artillery Hold if you are new to shooting. Bench shooting from sand bags will be most effective. When ordering from Pyramyd make sure they repeat every line of the order including your house number etc. I had a terrible problem with Pyramiyd messing up my order and had to make no less than 15 phone calls to get it straightened out. Make sure they are 100% accurate the first time. Look over your confirmation emails very carefully!. This is how I caught their mistake. It took me over one week to get my order. Just because they send you an email saying your order has shipped it may noy have. I received several emails saying mine shipped all the while it was still in their warehouse.
Things I liked: Me likes the feel of the rifle and the quality. The cocking action is not too bad i like it because my left arm is week and it acts as a excercise to strenthen my shoulder. Overall it is a nice product.
Things I would have changed: The scope is not to my liking first thing changed. I purchase a Nikon scope which is the cats meow sited in after 3 shots now im putting shots in the same holes on the target
What others should know: After seeing the demo video I was sold the only hard decision was the color Camo or black, Camo won out.I even purchased a Hard case for it to keep her nice and new lookin. thats all i have to say , when do i get paid for my opinion. Just foolin .
