Released in 2014, the Benjamin Trail NP2 quickly became one of the most popular breakbarrels on the market. With a combination of quiet shooting, easy cocking, and a good trigger, the original NP2 had a lot going for it already - but Crosman isn't finished making improvements to this airgun.
The quiet NP2 is now even quieter as the Benjamin Trail Nitro Piston 2 SBD. The SBD (Silencing Barrel Device) adds an improved barrel shroud that makes the NP2 SBD 3x quieter than other breakbarrels in its class. The asymmetric and removable shroud is specially designed to keep the silencer out of view when using a scope, and to expose the baffles, making cleaning easier than ever before!
This version sports a hardwood stock with integrated sling swivels if you want to make your NP2 easier to carry in the field with your included carry strap. Resting atop the rifle is a Picatinny optics rail for fitting the included 3-9x32 scope for zeroing in on your prey - whether paper or pest.
The Trail NP2 SBD keeps all the features that made the original Trail NP2 a great breakbarrel. The Trail SBD takes advantage of Crosman's Nitro Gas Piston technology; making it easy to cock, reducing vibration, and operating well in cold weather, unlike traditional spring pistons. As if all of this wasn't good enough, this airgun is assembled by American workers in Crosman's manufacturing headquarters in Bloomfield, New York!
This combination of features are ideal for shooters looking for a quiet, accurate, and easy to use breakbarrel that's ready to shred targets or dispatch any pest on your perimeter!

So far I like almost everything on this rifle. After only 40-50 shots it is grouping pretty nice and have been able to almost zero in my scope. It is a way better rifle than the previous version which I had to return due to the baffle always coming un-screwed due to the recoil. The baffle on this one is nicer and makes it look mean. Many people complain about the trigger pull on many rifles, but I personally don't mind the pull on these Benjamins.
Things I would have changed:The scope that comes with it is and has been the main issue with these high powered rifles. At this time that would be my only complaint but doubt anything will be done to resolve that issue.
What others should know:Replace the scope and you will notice a lot of difference. I threw on a Leapers UTG 4-16x50 AO True Hunter Rifle Scope, EZ-TAP, Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1" Tube, See-Thru Weaver Rings and am very pleased with this pair. Give it time and you will get used to the trigger. I purchased a Hatsan Torpedo 155 and have to say that the trigger pull on that one is almost similar. As far as accuracy I have to say that it is very good, I have been able to put pellets in the same holes and am sure it will get better as it breaks in. If your looking for a good air rifle and prefer the wood stock "as I do" this one will be a very good choice. I don't know what Benjamin did but this rifle has come a long way and is a far improvement from the first versions.

Can anyone recommend an accurate .22 hunting pellet for this rifle?
At what speed does this gun shoot a .22 Crosman Premier 14.3 grain pellet and is 8.3 lbs the real weight of this rifle?
Yes 8.3 lbs is the real weight. It should be around 825-830 fps with 14.3 grain premiers

A very hard hitter. I was scared at first before purchasing this rifle because there were several mixed reviews. All of my fears were unfounded. This gun is very hard to cock and you must be very certain that you do it with some force so the piston is engaged as it should be. I found a great deal on line for a Bushnell 6-14 X 50. A lot of scope but actually have had great success with it. This gun really likes the Predator Polymags 16 grain. Those were a HUGE surprise to me. I bought them just to test them out and I will hunt with these they are so accurate. When I hunt I have a sling the gun is much to heavy to carry without it for an extended time. A weight of a gun unless it is just ridiculous is not a concern to me. Two reasons, I scout out my hunting areas before hand and I have such confidence in this weapon.
Things I would have changed:The things I don't like if taken away would probably compromise the gun. The gun is heavy and the break barrel is an effort to cock.
What others should know:Go into this purchase with your eyes open. The gun is heavy and it is hard to cock the break barrel. This gun is vert, very quiet and very accurate. This gun, if maintained will last for years.
