Benjamin Trail NP2 Air Rifle

  • Nitro Piston 2 (gas piston)
  • Breakbarrel
  • Single-shot
  • Rifled steel barrel
  • 15.75" barrel (4" shroud makes it look longer)
  • 28 lbs. cocking effort
  • Enhanced 2-stage trigger adjustable for take-up (CBT=Clean Break Trigger)
  • Picatinny optics rail
  • Manual safety
  • Ambidextrous black synthetic thumbhole stock
  • Recoil pad
  • Integral sound suppression system
  • 8.3 lbs. (without scope/mount, which will add about 1.5 lbs.)
  • Includes scope and mount (unmounted)
  • Improvements over the original Nitro Piston and/or most other gas pistons: 10-lb. reduction in cocking effort, 15% faster and double the effective shooting range
  • Assembled in America!

Benefits of the Nitro Piston 2 over a metal mainspring:

  • Smoother cocking
  • Smoother shooting
  • No spring torque
  • No spring fatigue, even if left cocked for hours
  • Functions perfectly in cold weather
  • Lasts longer than a metal spring

All gas springs (gas pistons, gas rams) are NOT created equal!

The Nitro Piston 2 has it all over the original Nitro Piston and almost every other gas spring on the market. Most gas springs have a reputation of being hard to cock, but the NP2 put an end to that. According to airgun writer Tom Gaylord, it's the easiest-cocking gas piston he's ever shot.

But Crosman didn't stop the improvements there. They also improved the trigger so it feels like it's been tuned! Imagine that: A factory trigger that breaks crisp and clean. It has a significantly lighter trigger-pull, not one of those so-called "lawyer" triggers that requires Herculean strength to shoot.

As long as they were making improvements, Crosman decided to make a better and more effective integral sound suppression system that really is quiet. You'll notice an immediate difference between the report from your Nitro Piston 2 air rifle and the older Nitro Piston guns or other brands.

So, let's add up what you'll get in this great package: Easy cocking, fantastic trigger and less noise. And, it's assembled in Crosman's plant in Bloomfield, New York. While that's almost everything you could ever want, there's one more thing -- and it's really important: Accuracy. When Tom Gaylord tested a Nitro Piston 2 at an industry show, he commented that he hit everything he aimed at. Isn't that what you want to do? We thought so!

The Benjamin Trail with the Nitro Piston 2 isn't a dream -- it's a dream come true. It's here for you to enjoy, to hit everything you're aiming at, and not strain with each cock and each pull of the trigger. They've put the fun back in airgunning!

If you purchase the .22-caliber rifle, your box may state the wrong velocity with lead pellets.

Things I liked: Like the feel and seems to be pretty accurate until the scope moves. Probably shot 300 pellets and had to tighten scope 3 times.

Things I would have changed: Scope is average at best and mount/rings are very poor. Best would be to sell this air rifle separate and add a scope if can't come up with a better combo than what is included.

Things I liked: The pistol grip handle and how quite the gun is.

Things I would have changed: Installation of fiber optics sites besides the option of mounting a scope.

What others should know: Highly recommend the Benjamin Trail NP2 22cal pellet gun just awesome.

Things I liked: This gun is to me extremely light. The cocking effort is light enough for my son to dock it. He is 13. I shoot right at 40 yards and maintain a 1 inch group with the game rockets. Zeroing scope was easy.

Things I would have changed: The gun is quiet the shroud I wish was such a way to add more baffles - report is still enough to scare off souromdimg squirrels.

What others should know: Easy carry and gun is not frigel. Holds up scope most well has not moved since I installed. Gun shoots more accurate after about 100 rounds. Does not seem to like pointed pellets.

  • Terry from USA asked:

Can someone suggest a soft case hat fits the NP2?

  • Patrick from USA asked:

has anyone heard anything about a possible NP2 in .25 cal?

    • Chevota from USA:

I suppose if a light 20gr pellet was used you might hit 750, but I doubt it. Most weigh more like 25gr so my guess would be 650. I don't think they'll make it due to that velocity, but if they ever make a more powerful version then I'd say yes. I'm picturing "Trail XL NP2", not that I see a point to it over the existing XL. Plus I think 25cal and beyond is pcp territory, and more so as prices drop and more players enter the market.

    • Caleb from USA:

I don't believe it'd be that slow, possibly around 750 though

    • Todd from USA:

I haven't heard anything but in 25 it'll be rather slow. It might make 22ftlbs which would take a medium weight 25gr pellet to 630.

  • Salim from USA asked:

what bipod would be best for this gun

    • Chevota from USA:

I'd say the only one for any springer would be the cheapie spring loaded clip on RamLine. They're a loose fit so they don't interfere as much. Something to think about before you drill holes in your stock for another type. Not sure how it would fit the tapered part of the barrel but you could always taper the jaw clamp to match. Fyi I lined the jaws of mine with felt so it wouldn't scratch the gun.
