It’s Story Time!
It’s story time! I’m going to tell you a story about two friends, who also happen to be neighbors, Chris and Anthony.
Chris yells to his neighbor “Hey Anthony, I just got the new PSE Drive NXT Compound Bow! Check it out!”
Anthony snatches it from Chris, with his chest puffed out and says, “I shoot guns all the time, let me see it, I’ll test it out for ya!”
“Whoa! Wait a minute, it’s not ready!” informed Chris. And here’s where we pause…
Anthony knocked the arrow and pulled the string back with his trigger finger, (after all, he shoots guns all the time)! What do you think happened next? Now that you’ve told us your outcome of how Anthony is lying on the ground from either the bow or his buddy Chris, I’ll tell you what really happened.
What Really Happened
Anthony didn’t achieve a full draw before his finger slipped off the string. The arrow fell backwards out of the bow. It was as confused as the presumptuous “Wanna Be” master of all things was, Anthony. If an artist could have painted a portrait of his face at that very moment! It may have been another Mona Lisa, priceless.
Chris offered to get the bow prepped and put together so Anthony could achieve success, but Anthony refused the helping hand. He attempted the same thing, this time he almost achieved a full draw before his finger slipped again and this time it was worse.
Chris stared at his buddy trying not to be the “I told you so bird” he was his friend, he knew how he was. Anthony let out a loud growl, dropped the bow and grabbed his arm. That’s right, he got slapped!
Stupid Sport?
Anthony went home to tell his wife about the stupid sport of archery and how he’ll stick to his guns! When she saw his arm, she was convinced it was a stupid sport and just like that two people were infected with a lie!
Chris had a goal in mind, to show his buddy what a great sport it really is. The PSE Drive NXT Compound Bow includes the Sierra Micro 5-Pin Sight, Torment 5-Arrow Quiver, Phantom Drop Away Rest, Recon 6″ Stabilizer, PSE Neoprene Spring, 3/16 Aluminum Peep, and a Nocking Loop. All that needs to be installed before shooting it. Chris gets to work.
He installs the Phantom Drop Away Rest first. He then verified his arrow’s nocking point for the placement of the D Loop. Next the peep sight and the 5 pin sight, (peep placement can be different for each individual, it depends on their sight height).
Second Chance

After installing all the goodies and giving his buddy time to rest, Chris invited Anthony over to give this bow thing another try. Anthony nocked the arrow, then attached the Spot Hogg Whipper Snapper Release, achieved full draw and let it fly. The more shots he took, the more Anthony seemed to want to try again.
Anthony softly asked, “ Hey Chris, how are you shooting that without getting slapped by the string like I did?” This is the moment Anthony was waiting for, the door was wide open for another chance.
Anthony told him, just like any shooting, there’s the right equipment and the proper form. If either of those are lacking, you and possibly others will be open to a bad day or days. The reason you got slapped was bad form, but I can teach you how to do it right so your arrows are slapping the target and not the string you.
Undoing What You’ve Done
Anthony learned a couple things, he didn’t know everything and now he has a job to do. That’s to change his wife’s mind about the wonderful world of bows! What do you think the best way to do that is? Maybe he could buy her the Genesis Youth Bow Archery Kit in teal for a starter.
