The Bow Bully has something else to put on the wish list. I was just skimming through different types of crossbows to see if there’s one I’d consider for small game hunting. I found the perfect one, but before telling you what it is I’ll describe it to you.

Target or Hunting
Do you have any idea what I’m talking about? It is available in a Target Kit or a Hunting Kit, of course you remember my original reasoning for this right? In case you don’t, I’d utilize it for small game hunting. I’m going for the Hunting Kit which includes 90 lb pro limbs, target limbs, replacement string, a stringing aid, and six training arrows.
Not only is it the smallest and lightest crossbow, it’s also customizable with these accessories;
- Stringer II Limbs 150 lbs.
- AR-Series M10 Upper
- Folding Stock Adapter
- Interchangeable Forend Plates
- Replacement Polymer Magazine
Customizable Gear
![steambow ar-6 stinger tactical repeating crossbow](https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Steambow-TBB-Photo2.jpg)
It’s always fun to customize your gear, right? When you can create a tool that is exactly what you want it to be, oh the satisfaction one feels! Whether it be for comfort, ease of operation or to increase energy. That’s not all, there’s more customization for this one, and I’m sure by now you’ve guessed the exact crossbow I’m speaking of, because I’ve pretty much given it away.
I’m speaking of the Steambow AR-6 Stinger II Tactical Repeating Crossbow. I couldn’t pass this one up when I saw it, altogether, it’s an interesting little piece. I said there was more, so stop distracting me and let me get on with it!
Everyone has a favorite color, though they don’t offer every color of the rainbow, they do have some that may be close to your favorite. Which one of these would you choose?
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit Sand
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit Blue
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit OD Green
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit Orange
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit Red
- AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit White
You want to know what I would pick before you tell me! Okay, I’ll humor you. My favorite color is green, (yes, I expect you to remember that), so I would opt for the AR-6 Stinger II Color Kit OD Green.
I’ll Finish First
Since I had to tell you first, I’m going to finish this blog and then you can tell me which color you would pick. I’m putting my Stinger in the cart right now, so I can get some practice in before I attempt to skewer a squirrel or maybe even a raccoon.
With plenty of practice, my hope is that every shot will be perfect, but I’m a hunter and I know things happen. If I make a mistake and make a bad shot or the animal jumps too soon, the Steambow is a repeater. With all the arrows loaded in the magazine, to take a follow up shot is only one cock away. That gives me a better chance of recovery as long as I’m as fast as the bow.
Frankenstein
![AR parts that can be used with the steambow](https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Frankenstein-TBB.jpg)
You still can’t decide on a color? I have an idea, buy one of each of the color kits and mix ‘n match. You can have a red stock, a blue trigger, an OD green grip, a white vertical foregrip, one sand side panel and one orange side panel and call it Frankenstein!
Bow Guy
I think the 90 pound version might be a little light for deer, but the 150 pound limbs might be capable of ethical hunting of whitetails. What are the specs for those heavier limbs?
Being an old coot, I have disdained the changes in hunting gear. I was last to the party with compound bows, then crossbows, and am still holding out against anything beyond flint for muzzleloaders. This might, should it prove capable, tempt me into the 21st century. Can’t be sure, given my temperament,,, but just maybe.
Ed
Ed,
I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, this comment slipped right through the cracks.
Here are the specs for the heavier limbs you asked for.
Steambow AR-6 Stinger II Limbs, 150 lbs
Compatible with Steambow AR-6 Stinger II Standard and Tactical crossbows
Combination fiberglass and carbon construction
Designed for hunting applications
Requires heavier carbon arrows
Includes 1 limb, 1 string (120-150lbs), 1 stringing aid, and 2 polymer limb tips
Note: 150 lbs limbs require heavy arrows and are NOT suitable for use with the Compact AR-6 Stinger II crossbow.
I’m glad to hear there are still old coots around Sir!
All the best!
