Solid feel with good weight. Realistic look too.

    Things I would have changed:

Make a single action or lighten the trigger.

    What others should know:

With the CenterPoint Quick-Acquisition Laser Sight mounted on the rail, this pistol is really fun to shoot.

    Things I would have changed:

    What others should know:

All in all, this is a good little pistol.

    Things I liked:

I am stunned by this bb gun ! It looks and feels like the 'real mc coy'. I was going to invest in a .22 1911 clone but now I do not have too !!! I am able to utilize this gun as my practice gun instead of forking out $$$$ for range ammo, range fees, etc. This little beauty actually fits into my warthog holster. Her barrel is about 1/2" longer than my hog. Also this gun's grip is not as wide as the doublestack mag in my hog but every other issue is pretty much very similar. At first I did not acquire the BB loader since I created my own out of a plastic straw that worked just fine but with the bb loader itself you are to keep a good amount of bb's on hand readily available to load this beauty. I have been able to load on an average of 2-3 xtra BB's in the magazine from what the instruction manual says is the max for the magazine. It does not affect the way magazine feeds or shoots. Not sure exactly why I am able to do so. I using the steel BB's since my reviews of the reviews quite a few mentioned that the regular brass BB's get hung up since their finish is not a smooth as the steel BB's. I had no FTF issues what so ever. Maybe the spring in this mag is just very well stretched but still holds its great spring strength with no issues what so ever !

    Things I would have changed:

Make the 'silver tape' that represents the ejection port either a better quality or making that part of this gun with some sort of light alloy since aluminum would probably not be strong enough with stand dents, etc.

    What others should know:

I invested in the 'refurb' version of this gun. I have not been disappointed at all !! Plus I saved myself about $ 30.00. Granted the gun I received is not flawless like a brand new one but it is pretty darn close !! There are a few spots where they could of done a little better with the touch up paint. I located only 2 very small blemishes (?) if you would even call them that. BTW - Acquire ALOT of BB's because it is VERY DIFFICULT to put this lady down because she feels so darn nice in your hands. DO NOT LEAVE THIS GUN OUT IN THE OPEN i.e. in your car, backpack, etc. because even from a few feet away it diffidently looks like you have THE .45acp Colt Defender in your hands ready to freak some people out if since they will not be able to notice the difference. Unless they are well versed with guns themselves they will not be able to know that this is not a .45acp weapon. Really upclose I am sure if you point this gun at someone with some sort of gun knowledge they will be able to see that the opening on the front part of the barrel is substantially smaller than a .45acp but in the rush of it all I am sure most people would just drop a load in their pants since this is a very realistic gun that just got pulled into their face/line of vision.

    Things I liked:

    look, power, concealed carry.

    Things I would have changed:

theirs no blow back action. its a pain to reload, not very accurate, doesn't go very far. heavy trigger

    What others should know:

im not sure if mines defected, but it isnt very accurate, and its doesnt go far like it says on the box, it jams and miss fires all the time, at least every "clip" only works well if its like 90 degrees outside. it takes so long to reload and gets about 50 good shots before the co2 gets dull. although this gun is super powerful, especially at close range. i understand that blow back action would drain the co2 but i think u should be able to pull the slide back for pleasure but it wouldnt cock the gun.

    Things I liked:

being made of metal this pistol felt of regular pistol weight.the front sight being a white dot helped in sighting.surprised at the accuracy for a bb gun if i did my part. i do not expect sub minute accuracy from a co2 bb gun,so a 2in group at 7 yrds is great.fun gun to shoot, even the wife liked it.cheaper than her shooting the 9mm. just hard to slow my rate of fire due to the fun of rapid firing at the target

    Things I would have changed:

if there is any change it would be the loading of the bbs. but again it is a small inconvenience that dosnt effect the pistol just me

    What others should know:

as i posted on the makarov site its accuracy is on pare with most co2 bb guns ive had since the 60s.if you want fine accuracy put out big bucks for target pistols if you are just looking for a fun target shooter with 2in to paper plate size groups depending on your speed of fire.here you go .would be good for teaching firearms safety and proper handling

    Things I liked:

Nice handling gun. Shoots very well. Very accurate for a smooth bore BB pistol.

    Things I would have changed:

Make a better grip. The plastic grip is kind of flimsy. I works but would be nice it it was a plastic composite, a little heavier material. Adjustable sights, though it shoots straight now. Just would be nice to have.

    What others should know:

Both I and my son like this gun and the way it shoots. Handles very well.

This gun was accurate right out of the box. It has a nice satisfying weight and balance to it.

    Things I would have changed:

If it had a blowback feature, it would be way too awsome of a gun.

    What others should know:

You won't regret buying this gun. It's a fine gun that lives up to the colt 1911 name.

    Things I liked:

Build quality and performance is excellent! I'm getting 450fps consistently with this little power house. You'll get about 100 shots per CO2 canister which is surprising considering the power. I enjoy shooting it at 35ft and the accuracy is second to none.

    Things I would have changed:

    It is what it is.

    What others should know:

This air pistol weighs quite a bit and the trigger pull is heavier than most. If you squeeze the trigger slowly, you can feel the barrel slide forward and there is a gentle click when the bb loads into place. Take a breath adjust your aim and squeeze off your shot. It's almost like having a 2 stage trigger. For the price this is an excellent value. Durable, consistant performance is what you can expect for years to come.

    Things I liked:

The Defender has some heft to it similar to the real thing. It was bought to help with trigger control. I have no problem hitting 16oz plastic bottles from 20 yards away. A Springfield holster for a 1911 with a rail works ok for practicing draw techniques.

    Things I would have changed:

Move the safety to where it is supposed to be.

    What others should know:

    Loads of fun. Quiet.

    Things I would have changed:

the slide back grip is nice, but sometimes acts up when you slide it back into place, but other then that great gun

    What others should know:

if your hands are week, then this gun may take some getting use to, it is heavy and a long trigger pull, but i am sure you will fall in love with it some you get use to it ..... so far a great gun to own and shoot

    Things I liked:

Feels like the real thing. I bought this to practice in my backyard. It fits my S&W 3913 holster and is very similar in size and feel to the 3913, it's actually heavier. For a smooth bore bb gun it's fairly accurate.

    What others should know:

Some suggest magazines would be a nice addition but I found BB loading quick and easy. Look for coupons before you buy. Pyramyd was great.

This pistol has alot to live up to with the Colt name on it. I'm happy to say it did it. It looks like the real deal, feels like the real deal, and is very accurate. I'm very happy with the gun.

    Things I would have changed:

I would expect that bearing a legendary American name like Colt, the gun would be made here. I was not happy to see the gun was made in Taiwan.

    What others should know:

If you could have only one bb gun, this should be it.

    Things I liked:

semi auto, metal construction, the look and feel

    Things I would have changed:

make it a single action also, lighten the trigger pull as it's difficult to hold the gun steady when you have to sqeeze hard to make it fire.

    What others should know:

I spent about an hour today shooting this gun and the Crosman C41 with my Dad and he has a chronograph which measures FPS. Neither one of these guns shoots bb's at the speed they claim, according to this particular chronogragh, which my Dad says he believes is accurate because he use to have another one also and he set them both up, one behind the other, and they both registered the same speeds. The fastest this Colt shot a BB was 372 fps and the average speed for the first five shots was 369 fps. The Crosman wasn't much better at 389 fps. Both guns stayed in 350 to 370 range until they ran out of gas. He also had an old Crosman Auto Air 2 that is quite cheap, made out of plastic mostly and no longer for sale but it actually out shot both the more expensive guns. It shot at 413 fps the first shot but then dropped down to around 360 or so after about 20 shots and stayed there until the cartridge died.

    Things I liked:

Heavy Weight. This gun is impressive after you pick it up. It gets an A for innovation and application to an already proven airgun design

    Things I would have changed:

Small items could have easily be corrected by competant factory quality control. The typical chinese (Taiwan) lack of attention to detail has become the norm nowadays.

    What others should know:

Performance is excellent as per other reviews. This gun only rates a C in fit and finish. The black metal body is cast looking, not crisp at edges and machined looking such as walther ppks, this appears to me to be thick powder coated cast metal, similar to older marksman repeaters ( I hope it doesn't chip as easily as the old cheapo marksman's). The Colt Logo and lettering on the slide is screen printed on top of the surface, not embossed into the metal. The retractible handgrip is loose fitting plastic resulting in a chintzy feel, and all stickers/emblems on grips and on the false ejector are very poor quality and all were installed crooked and wrinkled by the Chinese assemblers. I called Umerex and they neither warranty sticker quality, nor do they have spare stickers to send to verified first owners, they responded quickly to me, but were not willing or prepared to satisfy me as a customer. All in all, this is a great airgun platform shared with many others. If your main interest is only performance and easy on CO2, I would reccommend one of the crosman C11 or similar plastic versions of this design. I would reccommend Colt Defender if what you want is heavy metal replica of decent feel in an upper to medium priced gun that you can use for fun without spending a lot on CO2/ammo. I am glad I purchased it, the negative points were small to me, just listing so others can know what to expect.

    Things I liked:

Feels like a Commander-type M1911. Solid weight and handling. Pretty decent accuracy...This is a great fun gun for BB plinking at a moderate price. Excellent for practicing shooting skills at little cost. DA trigger pull was quite good too.

    Things I would have changed:

Might want to have a magazine-fed system (although realistically that may raise the price some.) That adhesive strip on the fake ejection port may seem a bit chinzy, but, hey, for the price, I can live with it.

    What others should know:

This pistol looks strong and should last quite awhile. It's fun to shoot....buy it!

    Things I liked:

Power, power and power! This thing spits out BB's like rockets and they hit like a hammer. All metal frame, the weight is correct and no sharp burrs on the casting. Accuracy is good and as always, dependent on how the shooter holds it on target. C02 seals well (remember to oil the tip of the cannister) and gas seems to last for nearly a hundred shots. I like the built-in BB magazine and it loads fast.

    Things I would have changed:

Grips could be a little tighter or change to a pop out left side like the Walther. I am not a fan of the screw on cartridge piercing style and prefer the Walther types. White dot front is nice, but how about putting two on the rear? Faux hammer, left lockup and safety is wierd, but since this is not blowback, I understand it's necessity for realism and the low price reflects the savings on production extras.

    What others should know:

I removed the fake chrome (tape) and cleaned the glue using citrus cleaner. Be gentle with the grip opening for loading. The grips can get cockeyed if you move them around too much. There is only a big weak spring to pop them out and they do not have a solid durable lock up when closing them back. I often wonder why they cannot produce higher end BB pistols to match the velocity of ones like this. Use high quality BB's for the most power and accuracy. With all it's shortcomings, I really love this pistol.

I like everything about this air pistol,it's looks, all metal constuction, spring loaded hand grip, bilt in Mag in the the hand grip, good weight and is a very solid gun.It shoots at a great velosity and is very accurate and comfortable in hand.It is also made by Umarex witch is of great quality I don't think this one can be beat!!!!!! It is worth every dollar, keep going PA I'm very happy with this one. I also got to like this one better than my Beretta Elite II witch is also a great gun but have to have a lot of time to shoot Beretta because I get about 200 rounds per c02. (GREAT LOOKS QUALITY AND PRICE)I'm giving this gun 5 stars because I beleive that mine is worth it.

    Things I would have changed:

NOTHING AT ALL , UMAREX GOT A GREAT ONE HERE !!!!!!!

    What others should know:

This is a great gun all around, if you like to shoot you will love this one, and you don't have to be a pro to shoot good with this gun.It is so accurate, strong and of good weight.I don't know why they say to only shoot 50 rounds, I get about 100 per c02 maybe even a little more. This is a must by for Collector,Beginner, Pro or just someone who likes to shoot. So save your money and get this gun it is GREAT !!!!!!!!! You will not get a better gun for this price.
