What is a Spring Piston Air Pistol
A spring piston pistol is a type of air gun that uses a coiled spring mechanism to generate power and propel pellets or BBs. These self-contained guns offer shooters simplicity, affordability, and reliability.
How Does a Spring Piston Air Pistol Work
Spring piston pistols work with a simple mechanism. The shooter cocks the pistol, usually through breaking the barrel or actuating a lever. This compresses the spring inside the gun. While the breech is open, load a pellet head first, seating the skirt well with thumb pressure. Then, close the barrel to make it shooting-ready. When you pull the trigger, the compressed spring releases, compressing the air in the chamber in front of the spring, which is forced through the barrel, pushing the pellet.
This process takes a fraction of a second in a carefully orchestrated process from air compression to the pellet hitting the target.
