Things I liked:

This is the definitive model if you are looking for a base to build your perfect custom Crosman DPMS/R1 setup. The gun itself is a ton of fun to shoot. It is very solid, extremely well made, and surprisingly accurate. If you want to run your own red dot or a scope (the UTG Bugbuster fits perfectly), than this is the model to pick up without having to pay extra for the Crosman red dot. Having the option to replace the grip and stock opens up the whole world of AR15 add-ons, including the Magpul CTR stock or the Magpul MOE+ grip. The weaver rails on the barrel are well done and can easily handle addons like the Magpul AFG2 foregrip and XTM handguards. Being able to shoot a full auto AR15 is a ton of fun. Compared to a real one, this is cheaper to shoot, has less of a recoil, and can easily be done in your backyard or garage. If you shoot airguns for fun, this is the hands down, most fun one of them yet. Don't accidentally buy the Semi-Auto R1, get the Full Auto R1 instead!

Things I would have changed:

The butt of the stock is very hard and is uncomfortable out of the box. It's easy to fix by adding a low cost rubber pad. The TACPAD from Missouri Tactical fits it perfectly and should be considered a must buy, unless you replace the stock entirely. Something like it should have been included in the box. I tested many other pads that don't fit, so get this one, it will greatly improve the shooting experience. Two other products from Missouri Tactical are perfect, high quality, low cost add-ons. The grip storage plug (perfect for a battery and allen wrench to adjust the aiming if you do end up picking up the Crosman Red Dot version) and the mag assist (perfect to make the magazine a place to rest the gun while shooting). They are only around $10 each and really improve the shooting experience.

What others should know:

Definitely pick up an extra mag. A single mag takes 2 co2 cartridges, but you can put a full co2 cartridge in one port, and an empty one in the other. Then with two mags, you can switch back and forth, giving time for each mag to warm back up after shooting it on full auto. Because full auto is where the gun really shines. It's hard not to smile once you switch on full auto. I lost track of how many clips 2 co2 cartridges can run, but it was more than enough for one shooting session for me. Be sure to pick up the Hornady Anodized BBs, the smooth finish will never cause the bb's to jam in the magazine. Also, as Crosman directs, use silicon oil and NOT pellgun oil on the tips of your co2 cartridges. Pellgun oil will degrade these seals. While you can just replace a magazine after awhile at $50 a pop, just use silicon oil as directed!

Things I liked:

It does hit a 100% with the Sig Sauer Romeo 5. Looks great specially now as a paper weight

Things I would have changed:

Support is almost non existent for parts. Even though the website claims to service Crossman.

What others should know:

Don't buy good looking weapons that have no good service.

    Things I liked:

Bought this for the customization ability over the DPMS. Picatinny rail and mil-spec attachments work. Fun basement mini range plinker, full auto goes quick but works great.

    Things I would have changed:

Things I DID change - the existing iron sights (plastic) and stock were pretty cheap feeling. Added a Magpul vertical post grip and stock. Changed sights to real metal ones. An airsoft barrel extension, 14mm CCW. I wish the FPS and mag capacity was higher.

Realistic.Natural feel of how genuineness. Craftsman ship.

    Things I would have changed:

Would say maybe the mag but the "quick re-load mag" Also from crossman solved that with flying colors.

    Things I liked:

It's is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and hands. Being able to switch stocks and grips out is a plus. Good for customizability.

    Things I would have changed:

Barrel Length is too short. FPS is way to slow. Internals are made of very weak pot metal. Magazine is super heavy. this whole series needs to be redesigned, better materials and better mechanics!!

    What others should know:

Accuracy isn't too good on paper at 40 feet. Max distance a bb will travel holding the R1 parallel to the deck before the red dot sight becomes useless is 75 feet. My daisy 415 co2 pistol (500~fps) seems more accurate and the distance is 90 feet. In my opinion this is a sheep in wolf clothing. It does not out preform the 415. It's an over priced bb pistol with the added feature of full auto. If It didnt have accessories on it already it would be returned. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! This is dissapointment in a box. Get a break barrel air rifle. Way more consistent. Way more power!!

I love this rifle! Reminds me of the M4 I used in the military. You can also swap/add actual M4/AR15 parts and accessories. Crosman did a great job, and the full auto feature is awesome!

    Things I would have changed:

Make the upper receiver metal instead of plastic.

    What others should know:

Buy extra mags, with full auto you will be glad you did!

    Things I liked:

Just received the R1 last week. Put 500 rounds through it so far. I think the weight is realistic. Accuracy is more then I expected for a short smooth barrel carbine. The mag spring has a slotted stop for loading. I was not expecting that either. I never even touched the speed loader. Just lock the mag spring back, and pour. It's that easy. The charging handle, dust cover, and bolt release are as real as it gets. I knew there was no reason for the forward assist to work, but at this point I had to push on it once just to make sure it had no function. lol Some complain about the plastic sights, but they work well even for these old eyes, and keep the cost down so you can afford what you want later. To sum it up... You can't go wrong if you choose this because you want full auto.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing, I'm that satisfied with this product as is.

    What others should know:

Dump the mag, or fire in short burst. Then click the selector back to semi, and plink all day. It is just an all around fun gun.

Full frikin auto!!! Quad rail! Solid overall feel. Good heft but not heavy. Did I mention full auto?

    Things I would have changed:

Iron sights instead of plastic. The use of 1 co2 cartridge instead of 2.

    What others should know:

Personally prefer this over the dpms. There are both very similar, but the R1 just has a better feel to it.

    Things I liked:

The weight of this rifle is very realistic, I should know I carried an AR-15 in the military. I like how you can accessorize this rifle. I have put every accessory you can think of on mine! This rifle is very accurate out of the box, mine likes the Hornady Black Diamond BB'S the best. It has full auto and semi automatic with the flip of a switch very fun to shoot and a lot cheaper than my center fire AR-15! You can teach your children safe gun handling, my little family loves plinking in the backyard we have so much fun with these air rifles, it's such a great hobby. I really like the fact that you can field strip this rifle just like a center fire AR it has take down pins so you can separate the upper and lower and that also makes it nice if you ever get a jam not saying that I have had a jam but it will make it easy to get a jammed bb out! So if your in the market for an AR style air gun check this one out on Pyramid Air you won't be disappointed. They have this R1 at a good price.

    Things I would have changed:

Put real iron (metal) sights on this rifle instead of plastic ones Crosman.

    What others should know:

Make sure you have plenty CO2 and BB'S Because it's hard to put this rifle down once you start shooting it. Be safe and have fun!

    Things I liked:

Pretty much like everything. I would imagine this would hold true with the full R1 product line.

    Things I would have changed:

The automatic feature is what makes this unique. But I personally prefer it as a semi-auto. I would also prefer this with a different form factor similar to Crosman's 1077 with a longer barrel. The form factor of a longer rifle with a true semi action blow-back instead of revolver action (that most so-called semis employ) would be fantastic. A semi BB repeater should also be able to reach better velocities than this somewhat anemic 400 fps.

    What others should know:

I had a problem loading and called Pyramid tech support. This is not to disparage Pyramid but their tech told me to just return it as it was defective. Glad I called Crosman first as I learned I was trying to load incorrectly. Once I learned how it became easier and easier to load. Pyramid needs to work with their tech support on product knowledge. Still, in my view, Pyramid is a great company and i am grateful for their vast product offering and service to the hobby,

    Things I liked:

I like how realistic this rifle is. The weight, length just the overall look is great. The accuracy is really good for a BB rifle. It comes with (plastic) flip up sights that are alright. You can put almost any accessory you want on the R-1 like a scope, flashlight ,red dot etc. This is a real fun full auto air rifle. It is a great rifle to teach your child safe gun handling and how to shoot put it in semi automatic or flip the fun switch to full auto it's a blast to shoot! And a hole lot cheaper than shooting a real AR-15!!! So if your in the market for an AR style rifle to shoot in the back yard then check this one out I know you won't regret it. Buy one today from Pyramid Air at a great price just under $200 bucks.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like to of seen it come with metal flip up sights and a metal flash suppressor on the end. (You can put replace both parts I just mentioned with metal ones)

    What others should know:

I went ahead and changed the buttstock, and put a 3-9x32 Bugbuster scope by Leapers UTG and some other accessories. Mine likes the Hornady BB'S . I definitely recommend buying this R-1 Make sure you get the full auto one!

    Things I would have changed:

Replace the plastic flash hider with a metal one.

    What others should know:

You need to get the new Crosman A4-p in.
