    Things I liked:

The sight picture is very similar to the Gen 4 Glock 17 I carry except for the white dots on the Glock. I have noticed a great improvement in my groups at the range. Sights are much better than those on my 1322 Medalist, PC77 and 2240. I think that the trigger is fine. I expect that someone shooting matches might not like it, but I rarely shoot match grade weapons and this pistol is an affordable and serviceable practice piece. Around here no one can afford to shoot the mountains of 9mm we used to go through in order to maintain proficiency. The Avanti 747 fills the need. The single stroke cocking is a real time saver and aggravation eliminator. I really like my 1322 and PC77 but now I don't have to pump 3-5 times before each shot. Pistol is quiet, especially compared to my 2240. The clang of the pellet on the trap is the most noise you'll get. Cocking effort is pretty low. I'm not young and I can sit and cock it all night. Holding it up for 100 or 150 shots is not as easy.

    Things I would have changed:

That being said. I would pay more for sturdier sights. Preferably blued steel. The 747 is a little heavy. If that means it's better built, I'll take it, if not, it needs to be reduced in size and weight to something more like the 2240. By size, I mean the grips. They're bigger than I like, though that may go along with being a target piece. I prefer the grips of the 2240 and after that the 1322 (the 1322 grips don't shift around like the PC77's).

    What others should know:

If I could only own one airgun this would probably be it. I got it because I remembered many years ago the local LEO range master sat at his desk and shot his pellet pistol at a trap across the room A LOT. This guy was a fantastic shot. I think he'd like the Avanti 747. Comparing the 747 to it's competition Gamo, Baikal, etc. it think for the price point it has no peer.

    Things I liked:

Accurate, not too loud, and not very hard to cock.

    Things I would have changed:

I have small/medium hands. The grips are acceptable, but the pistol doesn't sit as comfortably in my hand as I would like.

    What others should know:

The pistol is a little heavy. Shouldn't be a problem for most people, but someone with a slight build should consider the weight before buying.

    Things I liked:

Accurate, easy and fast to handle. I was able to shot 520's straight out of the box.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger really holds the gun back, heavy rough but might losen up with time. Other things that could be nice but doesn't really effect shooting are plastic wimsy rear sight that is a bit to narrow, rough grip and weight balance (front heavy).

    What others should know:

After just 1k pellets the release valve started to leak. Easy fix just to take the vavle apart clean and add a little oil on the seal and retight the release vavle.

    Things I liked:

Accurate, easy to load, easy to cock. I could shoot this gun all day. It's fun to use. It's a gun with few faults that doesn't ask you to make up for it's problems. If you are considering the gun, buy it, you will not be sorry. You have to spend a lot more to get a better target pistol.

    Things I would have changed:

The back side of the grip is smooth and very slick. Some people might want to use a loose hold where this slickness would cause the gun to be unstable. It should be possible to checker this area of the grip. Anything else I would change would add to the price, like a better trigger, grip, sights or a metal bolt. At this price all these parts work. There's nothing functionally wrong with any of this. All are perfectly fine and you can shoot the center out of your targets.

    What others should know:

It's a single stroke with little power. It's perfect for 10 meter target or accurate plinking. As a package I like it better than the Gamo. I hate the overlever cocking on the Gamo, but YMMV. The Gamo has a much better grip and rear sight. The triggers are very different. The Gamo has a lot of creep that I don't feel in the 747. Bolt loading on the 747 is more convenient.

Everything about this shootin'iron I like.I bought mine about 20 years ago from a TV commercial. It has metal sights, and plastic grips, but that's OK.It shoots superbly, and is very quiet.

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe put wood grips on it? Of course, the price would go up as well.

    What others should know:

I feel I have definitely gotten my money's worth from this target pistol. Can't think of any real drawbacks to this gun.Good going, Daisy.

    Things I liked:

The gun is a super shooter , it out shoots all my other air rifles or pistols at 10 meters .

    Things I would have changed:

It needs more refinements in material and appearance of the gun .. It feels and looks more like a toy then a real gun . The target trigger is a joke , the 1 screw they give you to PLAY with is something to PLAY with only .

    What others should know:

I feel the gun is over priced , but there nothing in it's price range to out shoot it in a single pump gun . .

    Things I liked:

This pistol is very accurate. It provides an inexpensive way to practice your sight alignment and trigger squeezing techniques in your own home. If you are using this gun you don't have to ask if those bad shots are you or the gun. You can be assured that it is all you. I have shot about 2000 pellets with this gun, I have noticed a dramatic improvement in my pistol shooting abilities during this time.

    Things I would have changed:

Some people have complained about the plastic parts. While they make the pistol look cheaper they also make the pistol less expensive. You get an outstandingly accurate and reliable pistol for a lot less money. You can spend twice as much on a pistol with nicely machined metal parts but you will not gain anything in accuracy.

    What others should know:

The mechanism needed some break in time. I found the trigger was sticky for the first couple of hundred shots. Copious applications of Break Free and break in usage made thing much better. The trigger feel is now outstanding.

rear sight could fit together tighter , just don't bang it around once its set...

    What others should know:

I have over 2000 shots, 1/2 thru 5th tin! ! the gun is getting better, pays to clean the bore, the felt pellets work fine, shoot pop caps @ 10 yrds and then shoot them again if you can see'em.....Put a 1/2 pump before the FULL pump it will drive pins at 25ft ... after break in adjust the piston to manual specs...

    Things I liked:

Out of the box a little tweaking of the sites was necessary, but easy enough to take care of in a few minutes. As I have my own chrono, this little beasty is shooting the first 50 at rated by the manf., is dead on accurate. As I use these type pistols in the apartment for shaking rust during the week, I find the 747 well worth the money and now own 2. You can't beat the gun for that price.

    Things I would have changed:

As my right hand has had a few mishaps over the years, I have to make my own grips and alter/enlarge the trigger's pad right of center. Again, easy enough.

    What others should know:

If you've put off buying one, quit delaying the pleasure of ownership. You'll love it for indoor/basement and the simple plinking outdoor pleasures.

    What others should know:

nice gun, a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. A good value for the money, and with cocobolo grips and a better cocking piece (metal) would be a looker as well as shooter. I have been shooting this gun moderately for over a year. Very smooth!

    Things I liked:

Extremely accurate and quiet (perfect for indoors). Additionally, it's very easy to pump (only 1 pump necessary). I didn't find the handle uncomfortable (set up for right-handed shooters), left-handed grips are also available.

    Things I would have changed:

Would be nice to have a more visible front sight like a fiber optic one. But, that being said I got used to the sight after shooting it for a while.

    What others should know:

Gun comes with a sight adjustment tool, and a test target that had 5 shots fired from the pistol (also included a chrono tape - tape showed ~350 fps).

    Things I liked:

Very, very ACCURATE for the price.

    Things I would have changed:

Dispise the plastic grips but the RB Cocobolo grips I bought add a 1000% to the looks and the feel of shooting this pistol.

    What others should know:

This is my second review. Why? After about 100 pellets the gun would not compress any air. I just heard a hissing as the air escaped. No idea exactly what caused this, probably blew the seal or similar. I called PyramydAir and a RMA was generated promptly, no questions ask. This is why I like dealing with PyramydAir, they stand by their 30 day complete customer satisfaction guarantee. This exchange gun seems to function flawlessly. Yes it is accurate for 10 meter indoor but as I said in my earlier review and have read since in reviews the IZH46M is streets ahead in all areas and is an excellent pistol at more cost but definitely worth every extra penny. I do have a ton of fun shooting the 747 also but the Izzy is a way more serious pistol.

    Things I liked:

This gun allows you to test your technique as it is far more accurate than you can shoot off hand. It is quiet compared to other airguns. Chances are the impact of the pellet is louder than the gun firing. (you can reduce that noise with ballistic putty added to the trap)

    Things I would have changed:

I did change the grips to a nice wood from RB. Biggest issue for me now is the plastic bolt. I not aware of any fixes for it. If it were a tad lighter \ smaller that would be nice also.

    What others should know:

This is a great indoor short range pistol. If you are thinking pest control, look at a rifle instead. Buy this if you want a low cost way to sharpen your pistol skills.

    What others should know:

If you're searching for an accurate air pistol, listen up! First, some background. I shoot .22 pistol, .45 ACP and .44 Special in the handgun arena. I was looking for a gun to practice my shooting at home instead of driving to the range. Also, pellets cost a lot less than centerfire ammo even when you load your own, which I do. I researched spring guns, CO2 and pneumatics. For my purposes pneumatics of the single stroke type were the way to go. No, they don't have recoil and if you are training for such, get a spring gun. Keep in mind the recoil of a spring gun and a center fire pistol are worlds apart. It had been more than 20 years since I handled a pellet gun so I started my research from the ground up. The products that are available today were not in existence years ago. This may sound simplistic, but if you've been away from the hobby for some time, the game has changed. Do your homework. I thought that I could probably get a decent shooter for $100 or so. That's before I began shopping. The guns I seriously considered were the Beeman P1, Beeman P3, Beeman HW70LP, Gamo Compact and Daisy Avanti 747. The first 3 were ruled out eventually because I decided to go with a single stroke pneumatic. Therefore, I have no advice on the Beeman products. I chose the Daisy Avanti 747 over the Gamo compact because of price. I had to swallow hard to shell out $170 for a pellet gun---keep in mind I've been away from the hobby for 20+ years. My wife and I examined the Daisy Avanti 747 after its arrival. As mentioned earlier, the black magic marker covering the chipped off paint was not impressive. We called Pyramyd and they said they would send a new one out. Fine. I called back to get some more details on the shipment and received bad news. The head quality control person had inspected all 23 Daisy Avanti 747 pistols in stock and found that they ALL had magic marker covering nicks and chips in the paint. Not good. I decided to go ahead and accept the fact of poor quality and shoot the pistol. The plastic grips are not good. They had a bit of play in them which could not be corrected by tightening the grip mounting screw. Oh well, let's see how she shoots. Good! The cocking mechanism works good. Aside from the loading gate being too small, I was happy with the gun--until... I suddenly noticed that my groups were getting bad quickly. Here's what happened. The rear plastic sight was drifting to the right. I tried various things to tighten it up to get it to hold in place. All in vain. My fellow shooter listen up, we all know that if a gun doesn't shoot straight, we don't want it in our collection. No matter how good the price or looks of the piece. I have read about this same sight drifting problem in another review--after I had purchased the pistol and sent it back. Maybe I got a lemon--I'll give you that. There are plenty of satisfied customers out there who love their Daisy Avanit 747's. I could have lived with the chipped paint. I could not live with drifting sights. Pyramyd treated me well. Keep in mind they will not take returns on guns that have been fired. You don't get a free test drive but that should be expected. They are a fine company and I plan to do more business with them. With the Daisy Avanti 747 sent away, I now had to choose another gun. I had already built my basement range and I wanted to use it. Now, IF you are a serious shooter who appreciates quality workmanship and know that it comes at a price; I have a suggestion for you. Again, I had to swallow hard, but I finally decided to go with a pistol that had a proven track record with very few complaints; the Baikal IZH-46M. Yes, it costs about twice as much. Yes it's made in Russia. Yes it looks like it belongs in The Planet of the Apes. Yes it's the most bang for your buck if you want a quality air pistol that you can pass on to your children. I paid $340 for mine. If you are happy with shooting 1/2 inch groups at 10 meters, don't spend your money on this gun. It will shoot a ragged hole all day long pellet on top of pellet--if you do your part. If you are concerned with match type accuracy, the "Izzy" Baikal (pronounced like Michael with a B) IZH-46M is a must consider. For all you Daisy Avanti 747 fans out there, my apologies if I purchased a lemon. That said, the IZH-46M is in a different class than the Daisy Avanti 747. There is not one shred of plastic on the Baikal. There you have it, for what it's worth. My opinion after hours of research and first had experience, save your money, have a garage sale, cut lawns for a summer and buy the Baikal IZH-46M. Prepare to be impressed.

    Things I liked:

Cant beat the price. I like front heavy air pistols and this fits the bill for me. Accurate but definitely does not have the superior trigger feel and adjustment of the IZH-46M. It is quite accurate for 10 meter target work. Easy to cock and the felt oil pad is nice. Not a bad user manual either.

    Things I would have changed:

Plastic rear sight is cheasey and should be metal but adjusts well and stays adjusted seeing there is no detents. Plastic grips are cheap moulded plastic so I replaced them with RB Grips cocobolo grips. These grips add a nice touch.

    What others should know:

Not a bad value for money air pistol overall but if you are willing to pay the extra a IZH-46M is very much worth a look also. My 747 seems to like Gamo Match pellets as does my IZH-46M.

    Things I liked:

accuracy, quietness, build quality, did I mention accuracy?

    Things I would have changed:

should have nicer grips for the price, bolt should be heavier maybe metal or more like crosman 2240 or 1377

    What others should know:

sweet gun for accuracy, wouldn't expect to hunt with it but with an indoor range at 25' it makes dime size groups and doesn't wake the baby sleeping upstairs. side lever is a nice and easy to operate, pellets load easy. Does feel that speed (f.p.s.) isn't its strong point, but for hitting a fly in the eye does it matter if the pellet is going 320fps or 420 fps? One of my personal favorites out the collection...

    Things I liked:

After adjusting rear sight, 747 is superbly accurate. Piston seal is very visible, very easy to maintain/oil by adding oil to the soaker sponge. Easy to cock.

    Things I would have changed:

Grip handle is plastic. Grip cover is somewhat flimzy, does not line up flush against the grip solidly. Rear sight is plastic, it is also not firm. My hand can easily swirve the rear sight one mark click.

    What others should know:

Good air pistol. Even though all the reviews said it is quiet. I don't think you can shoot this in a room that shares walls with neighbor. After shooting 100 pellets, I know I do have momentary hearing loss.

    Things I liked:

Unbelievably accurate. Excellent reproduceability, shot-to-shot. Simple to load and pump, easy to work on/repair. Parts are available everywhere. Trigger is exceptionally clean and crisp.

    Things I would have changed:

DAISY, ...upgrade to the 777 sights, already! Return of the wooden, palm-shelf grips. Cut away some of the unnecessary metal (there's a lot of it) , to lighten the pistol and bring center of balance toward the hand.

    What others should know:

This pistol has been around for about 30 years (more?). The original 747's were the bargain models of the AWESOME 777, a real olympic quality 10M pistol. Only differences (really...) were the sights and the grips, which obviously were way better in the full-price 777. I have two of these, both bought as "parts-guns" in case my 777's ever needed a fix (the internals and barrel are exact matches, or at least on my models they are...mine are all 10-20 years old).
