3 of 3 Air Venturi Rear Sight, Micrometer Reviews
The price. General build quality seems decent.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe peep hole the that is drilled in this is roughly cut. The dovetail mount is a misnomer - there's ONE dovetail and that is the piece you can adjust. The other side is not a dovetail - it's a 90 degree angle and does not adequately engage the other side of the gun's dovetail. Put it on a R7 and it will eventually move within 50 shots and then fall off. Put it on anything more powerful and it will be off in a few shots.
What Others Should KnowPeople kept recommending this aperture. It seems pretty well made except for the fact that it's useless because of the mount design.
This is simple diopter rear sight. Appears to be well made for the price. It clamps up tight on a 11mm / 3/8" rail. Item is made in China.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt does not have a locking pin that would engage the countsunk holes on the rail of my air rifle to prevent it from sliding. The elevation, windage and rail tightening knobs are plastic. But they appear to be sturdy enough. It would be nice if the apperture size was adjustable.
What Others Should KnowThis is installed on a Weihrausch HW50S which is about 40 years old. I wish I had bought the original German Diopter when the rifle was new in 1968. But this one appears to be OK for the purpose. This is a great improvement over the notch sight. Also with the hooded front sight at the end of the barrel you have a much longer sight radius making it much easier to hit the"X" ring on a 33 foot NRA air rifle target. This is a new purchase and I have only used it one day.

A relatively cheap sight that performs well. I like the postiive click adjusters for windage and elevation. This isn't a high-tech sight for top-level target shooting matches, but it does give you a quantum leap in performance over most standard (non-aperture) sights fitted to air rifles.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt would be nice to have a more solid mounting system to connect the sight to the receiver dovetails.
What Others Should KnowThe paint finish is glossy, so you need to either keep the rubber eye-cup attached and shove your eyeball right up to it, or put some sort of non-reflective coating around the aperture. I just used soot from a flame.
