Over barrel
Things I Would Have ChangedMake it out of steel.
What Others Should KnowI sat it down and the leg snapped off right below the joint. It looks good but not built to last for more than a show stand meaning open it and dont use it
I have a Texan SS in .308. The Bi-pod is made by Airforce and is the only one that I could find that has a 11 mm attachment rather than a Weaver. To buy another bi-pod, I would have had to purchase a 11 mm to Weaver converter (The converter by Airforce would have been another $40.) It is sturdy and seems to work OK.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe legs are not attached to each other so to set the bi-pod, one has to pull a button and set each leg separately - it is not fast. It is also possible to set the legs in different plains - maybe a good thing and maybe not. The tilt does not seem to lock down as tight as I would wish. But, so far, all I have used it for is punching paper - it has worked well for that. The bi-pod is heavy and seems to throw the balance on my rifle forward. I would like to have some type of balance weights to take some of the weight off my left arm when I am shooting in a stand up position.
What Others Should KnowThe adjustable legs are tall enough for most of my purposes. To adjust each individual leg, one has to punch a level and count the clicks. But, if speed is a concern, then you might want to consider another bi-pod option. Additionally, if you are on the move and you have the bi-pod legs extended, it forces the balance forward even more. The rubber feet are stable - which is mostly good, but if you want to move the rifle a little, the feet kind of resist sliding.
Natively attaches to AirForce rifles via their dovetail rail so no dovetail-to-pictinny adapter is required.
Things I Would Have ChangedCant (ability to tilt rifle left or right) is controlled by a large lever in front of the bipod. The lever can't turn a full 360 degress because the lever hits the barrel/moderator. It appears the lever can be taken off and re-mounted at a different angle so that contact with the barrel is avoided, however, the lever is large, unattractive and fits loosely to the bipod. Further, the bolt that holds the lever to the bipod is weak/undersized and I broke the lever off the unit.
What Others Should KnowI'm used to +$300 Atlas bipods so maybe I'm spoiled but this unit feels cheap (although it's relatively expensive). I actually broke the lever that controls cant while trying to tighten the lever so that my rifle would stay vertical. Not impressed whatsoever. I'll stick with Atlas. That said, I have a friend that has a Chinese Atlas knockoff from AliExpress and while not a real Atlas, it's 10x better than this unit and 1/3 the cost.
Sturdy and well built.
What Others Should KnowNO INSTALLATION/ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS. This bipod is a proprietary piece of equipment for their rifles. Nice bipod, but needs instructions to properly install and use it.
It holds my heavy airforce condor up
Things I Would Have ChangedDifferent way to tighten/loosen the tilt.
What Others Should KnowNot to bad in my opinion, OTHER then the shoddy way you can adjust the tilt for the gun. The ability to tighten/loosen the tilt is fine, but the way the bolt is held in isn't good engineering at all.. I've had the bipod for less then a month and somehow have made the ability to change tilt tightness worthless. It's sad that it crapped the bed the very day I got my moderator for my condor as well.. let me tell you, it's a pain to have long range shooting with a 17" moderator on the front of a 24" barrel with no bipod
(First, I've been using this about 8 years now.) Folding legs forward when not in use works well. Pretty light and adds little weight. The $60+ price is ok for what it is and seem a fair deal.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe thing I most dislike is the rubber pads on the legs can get pulled off too easily. I haven't lost one yet, but when I do it will be a PIA to replace. I have been meaning to JB Weld (epoxy) them on the leg bottoms but that's a boring task.
What Others Should KnowThis bipod will serve you well until you enter the upper realm of airgun shooting. Once there, you'd never use this one and will insist on ones (like Atlas) beginning above $200 an soaring up from there..
It's a bipod.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe inside bolt with double thread is barely soldered to the inside but that tightens the bolt. What happens is the threads comes loose from turning the lever to tighten the legs. The nut never tightens the double thread bolt because it doesnt have anything anchoring it right enough, it just spins free, leaving you with loose left/right cantering. I put Gorilla glue on the threads and re-screwed it into the nut, hopefully it will hold enough to allow me to tighten the legs enough so that the gun wont spin freely in the grip of the bipod. If not, I'll be getting a another bipod.
What Others Should KnowBuy the UTG or other bipods, the Airforce one is put together quite shoddy.
Easy attachment!
Things I Would Have ChangedLegs seem loose but it is what it is!
What Others Should KnowOver priced!
nothing
Things I Would Have Changedthicker pod legs
