Beautiful gun, great blueing, great stock, great trigger, very accurate, easy loading with wide loading port, and push button on cocking lever, snaps in when closed and push to open, and does'nt have locking bear trap like other leaver guns, just cock and shoot no holding in button while closing lever.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing much, the only thing I have had trouble with is the screws keep vibrating loose and throwing off accuracy, have took them out and put blue locktight on them twice now. Hopefully when the gun gets broke in good that will end.
What Others Should KnowI checked around a few places before I purchased this rifle and very few have been returned if any. And I'm very satisfied with it.It shoots most pellets well but what mine likes are the Benjamin Destroyers 22 cal.It shoot them very well, it all so likes FTS, and Barracuda Hunter Extremes. Any way you can't go wrong getting one these great rifles.
This is a very accurate and nicely finished air rifle. The workmanship is typical German, great in every way. Shoots almost any pellet tried. I mostly use for targets at 10 meters. I am shooting H&N match and match finale. I can not tell at this time much difference in either pellet. Groups are ranging from .156 to .190 ctc.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowThis rifle is one of those must have to add to a collection of accurate well built rifles.
Awesome rifle out of the box, love it, originally had purchased the BLUE, but got it and had some imperfections on the stock, so decided to get this one instead. Love this finish, actually way better than the Blue, this is more traditional, classic, extremely glad it turned out I ended up with this one, you will not regret it. The trigger is super light, like butter. I shot 2 pellets the first time, JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo .22 Cal, 15.89 Grains Domed, and the H&N Field Target Trophy .22 Cal, 14.66 Grains, Round Nose. the rifle loves the H&N much better. The rifle has not been broken in yet, actually shot it only one session, consistently shooting quarter size groups one after the other at 25 yards. Many many shots inside one another. Mounted a Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 4-12x40mm P5, Mil Dot. The rifle is heavy, almost 10lbs all together. The craftsmanship is second to none, beautiful gun to pass on to other generations. Also used a Caldwell Dead Shot Shooting Bag I got on ebay for $20.
Things I Would Have ChangedWould love to make the rifle a lot lighter, but if it had to sacrifice the craftsmanship I would not touch a thing. This is a beauty.
What Others Should KnowLoves the H&N Field Target Trophy .22 Cal, 14.66 Grains, Round Nose.
Incredible accuracy out of the box, after 10 shots I was putting 5 shots through 1 hole at 20 yards. I pulled a couple patches through the barrel with some Balistol before shooting and that's all I did. Gun is shooting 15-16 FPE depending on the pellet, and it seems to shoot several different pellets well. Fit and finish and build quality is excellent. I mounted a Hawke 4-12x50 scope with high rings and this gun has no barrel droop at all, did not have to touch the elevation adjustment! This thing is quieter and shorter than my Vorteked R9, and the shape of the stock seems to fit me better to boot.
Things I Would Have ChangedThere is some twang on the shot cycle but that may get better as I run more pellets through it
What Others Should KnowThis is a fairly heavy gun that may be an issue for some people that do a lot of hunting, not a problem for me because all I do is shoot targets in my basement and squirrels from off my deck. I highly recommend this gun, it's worth the money
Quality is a good plus+ ,stock beautiful and metal bluing is acceptable plus+.
Things I Would Have ChangedScrews that hold the stock to the metal they keep getting loose every 20 - 30 shots so i have to keep a screw driver in my pocket because i can't use the loc-tite 242 blue before the first year of purchase ... accuracy is good but not a pinpoint even with the artillery hold
What Others Should KnowI have hw90 , feinwerkbau 124 sport they are superb amazing accuracy but the beeman hw97k is a little bit frustrating concerning the accuracy.
All I can say is WOW! ! ! ! The trigger is fantastic. The accuracy is phenomenal. Good safety. The stipling on the stock is perfect to keep a handle on it when carrying it, yet it has a smoothness when fired to move where ever it needs to with the artillary hold. I actually mounted a UTG Bug Buster 3-9X32 scope to it and it performs beyond what I expected. This is the best "springer I have ever shot with. Blueing is great as well.
Things I Would Have ChangedBesides the "moderator" not being baffled. UMMMMMM . . . "cricket sounds" . . . Nothing! It is still a quiet springer air rifle.
What Others Should KnowClean it before sending a pellet down range. It has shipping oil covering it inside and out and will stick to your hands and smoke / possibly deisel, if not cleaned. Mine smoked on the first shot, then I did the proper thing and cleaned it. I tend to see what a rifle will do "straight out of the box, please don't make the mistake I did and clean it properly before sending the 1st round. Get a good scope for this rifle, it will out-shoot most shooters and most scopes. Run a good 1000 pellets through it before a chrony test, as it will be more accurate, smoother, faster, and quiet, then run a few swabs down the barrel a few times and shoot another 20 or so shots. Very little kick to this springer compared to other springers. If you buy it, you're going to fall in love with it. No, it's not a PCP, but very accurate just the same. The Germans know how to engineer a rifle well!
Wow..6 shoot 3/8 inch ctc at 27 meters the first time I bench rested it with JSB exact. Haven't been able to duplicate it ever since, and just getting 5 shot 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch group at 27 meters. After 1 can of pellet stock HW97 is Quieter than my VORTEK R9 in .177 and 22.
Things I Would Have ChangedMine have a barrel drop. I use a 2 piece sports match model ATP61 to sight in a Hawke endurance 4x16x50 at 10 meters. I will be ordering a VORTEK kit to tame the minor vibration and make it quieter.
The accuracy is great. The trigger is great, once it is tuned up. The overall ergonomics of the rifle is pretty good, [better than the TX 200]. This rifle is one of the two best spring rifles that I have ever seen, and I am 54 years young. I use this gun for hunting so I got the 22 caliber. Do not let the slower velocity of this gun keep you from buying it. It has plenty of punch for rabbits and squirrels, and a hit at 750 fps. is far more deadly than a miss at 1400 fps. I know because I have tried it.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe bluing could be better. The gun is a little thick in the grip. There are no baffles in the suppressor. I really would like a walnut stocked version. I gave this gun a 4 on value for money because of the beech stock.
What Others Should KnowI bought the HW97 after having owned an Air Arms TX200 about 5 years. I shot both guns as they came out of the box until I had a good feel of how they performed so I would have an idea how much they had improved with a tune up.[I am a hobby machinist, so I could make all the parts I needed] I have completely torn down and rebuilt both guns after a lot of research online. The rebuild was delrin guides on spring and compression chamber. Polish spring and stone and polish trigger. After tuning both guns showed less vibration when fired. The triggers had the most improvement with the TX near perfect and the 97 is perfect. Accuracy did not get much better, but both were very good to start with. Comparing the two the TX 200 has perfect bluing and a very nice walnut stock. The HW97 has a better ergonomic feel. To sum it up, I take the HW97 hunting and leave the TX200 in the gun cabinet to show to people. Either one is way better than anything else I have ever seen. Just pick one and love it.
Excellent quality! The fit and finish is perfect. It's heavy on paper, but feels 2 lbs lighter because it's so well balanced. Accuracy is, well, beyond great.
Things I Would Have ChangedAbsolutely nothing. I love it the way it is.

My HW97K is a .177 caliber. Ive been shooting this gun for 12 years. The gun is very accurate, dime size group at 40 yards. Excellent craftsmanship Very Good trigger
Things I Would Have ChangedMake the gun easier to cock. My HW97K is harder to cock than the Diana 34. I think the cocking effort is in the upper 30 pounds range. Make it shoot smooth; my guns firing cycle is a twang” follows by some buzzing. Make it less Hold Sensitive. Make it lighter. I think with a scope mounted, 10 Lbs is the upper limit. Lower the noise to make it backyard friendly. Offer it with a walnut stock. The beech wood stock scratches too easily.
What Others Should KnowThe trigger blade is too far out. The new HW97KT with a thumb-hole stock brings your hand closer to the trigger thus problem solved.
My gun is generating around 13 ft-Lbs. It is low for the amount of cocking effort.
