Power, accuracy, reasonable cost.
Things I Would Have ChangedA little lighter trigger would be nice, but were talking a $200 rifle here..
What Others Should KnowIn .22 caliber this bad-boy is devastating on squirrels and other small game from 30 yards in. Awesome results with .22 Crow Magnum pellets.
This is my second air rifle (first one is the classic crossman 10-pump). Most of my rifle experience is with deer rifles. This gun is a good practice gun because it has the heft of a deer rifle, and is very accurate. I waxed the first two squirrels I shot at, one at around 20 yards and the other at around 40. I had to run around 50 pellets through it before I felt like it was broken in. I use the predator extreme pellets.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe trigger was pretty heavy when I got it. I loosened it up to get a smoother pull. Out of the box the squeeze was enough to make it hard to keep on target.
What Others Should KnowI recommend this gun. LIke I said, it's heavy, but I like that because it is a much less expensive way to mimic my deer rifles for practicing.
Very accurate, very powerful, well made, and attractive. The gun is very fun to shoot and extremely accurate. I have taken gray squirrels out to 55.5 yards. I could probably go closer to 100 yards, but have not had the chance.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt is a bit large. At 5 foot 9 inches, it begins to push too big and the 10 pounds really starts to get to you, if you have to carry it too long. Not for kids.
What Others Should KnowI took a squirrel with a hollow point at 30 yards. It entered just behind the left side rib cage and exited theright cheek bone, dramatically!! I have taken gray squirrels out to 55.5 yards. I could probably go closer to 100 yards, but have not had the chance. Nice craftsmanship and well worth the money, but you need good technique to shoot well.
Ease of set-up and quality of scope
Things I Would Have ChangedTrigger--very heavy for the type of rifle
What Others Should KnowI would consider strongly going with the CO2 type of pellet gun before going with a spring rifle.
The Chinese Beemans are a great value (quality vs cost), but not quite up to the German made products. This one (.22 cal) is no exception. I have an older Beeman 250 which was German made and originally cost about $200. The finish was flawlwss on the metal and the trigger was target grade. On this one the finish isn't quite as good, but still very nice and the trigger is really bad. Two stage with second stage being long, creepy, heavy, unpredictable and inconsistent. Even with the terrible trigger, this gun is an excellent purchase for the $200 price. I am shooting .25" groups at 10 yds with no problem. Overall it really is an excellent .22 air rifle for the $200 price.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe trigger and the safety. The trigger as mentioned above is abysmal. The safety is inconvenient to activate and inactivate, especially in a hurry. However with the heavy long creepy trigger, accidental discharge is unlikely.
What Others Should KnowBeeman products are getting impossible to find and I find no hope for deliveries from the factory in the near future. This was about the only .22 Beeman rifle of it's type in this price range I could find in stock from any retailer nationwide. Pyramid had the best price and service of all.
I called Beeman and asked them about the nationwide shortage of Beeman products and long backorder times. They denied it, so I asked them if I could buy directly from them as I couldn't find any retailers that didn't have major long standing shortages and were receiving regular shipments from Beeman. They said yes, but when I asked about specific models, they had none (about 6 different .22 rifles). I asked when they would get more of any of these and they said they had no eta on anything. So I asked "Then are the shortages real?" He was silent. They were very deceptive at every step. Be aware that you may never see more Beeman products at least in the foreseeable future...
Quality of setup, wood stock, adjustable trigger, dual barrel, consistency and grouping, power. I put a laser site on it as well as adjusted the scope and I can get 1" grouping at 35 yards. I am impressed with this air rifle. I have tried .22 Beeman hollow points, Crosman pointed and they both yield great accuracy. The Beeman have a better punch, and the Crosman have better penetration. I also tried the Gamo .22 Rocket lead pellets with the hardened steel tip. OMG the power is really obvious. I am sticking with the .22 barrel. I assume that the .177 will yield a higher velocity projectile, but it will not have the same destructive power as the .22. With the Gamo steel tip it will puncture a hole through 40 thousands aluminum from 15 yards. I’m really happy with this air rifle so fare. So far I have 200 rounds through it and the spring, trigger and the accuracy continue to improve. I little heavier than the other air rifles, but it screams quality so I do not care. I got use to it, so it is not a problem for me. Great overall deal for the money and surprising performance.
Things I Would Have Changedplastic trigger...
The classic style, ported bull barrel and accuracy. Covers a quarter size target at 30 yards repeatedly.
Things I Would Have ChangedChange to a metal trigger guard.
What Others Should KnowThis particular rifle has been broken in with Beeman Crow Magnums and likes this ammo. Have not tried any other brands of ammo based on these consistant results. Excellent for target and small game.
good accuracy, hitting half inch groups at 20 yards. Pretty high velocity, chronographed an average of 900fps with 8 grain pellets. great looks, I polished up the stock a bit so it was glossier. scope is excellent
Things I Would Have ChangedTrigger is a little stiff, not bad
Qualtiy, power, and accuracy. This gun is very well made. The fastest speeds I have gotten 751 with my lightest pellets, but i have also shot clay targets at 100 yards with 14.3 grain pointed pellets. I took a squirrel at 55.5 yards, had a clean pass through with hollow points at 33 yards (head shot), and a clean pass through (front shoulder to tail) at 28 yards with pointed pellets. You will not regret buying, if you can get beyond the size and weight. It performs as well as other guns, but at half the price.
Things I Would Have ChangedThis gun is a bit big and heavy. Partly due to the quality construction, but I think they could have done better with the weight and size. Also, because it is a spring powered gun you will need good technique, especially beyond 35 yards. But this gun is still worth buying, especially for the price.
