They say good things come in small packages. The new Fatal X from Killer Instinct Crossbows might be the best example of that familiar adage. With a profile that reads like a lightweight boxing champ, the Fatal X might be the most athletic crossbow in the woods.
This ultra-narrow crossbow is able to push a 390 Grain HYPR Bolt down range at 405 FPS. Uncocked, the width on this rig is just 9.75” and when cocked it’s an impressively narrow 6.25” axle to axle. Thanks to the new X-Cam design the draw weight of 195 lbs features an efficient 50% let off making the bow easy to cock with or without a crank.
Pull the feather-light 3.5 lbs single-stage trigger and the narrow X-Cam design produces a quiet, smooth shot. Don’t forget to get comfortable. Things I Would Have ChangedPoor material quality, Scope does not have enough adjustment for my old eyes ( reticle is blurry at max adjustment)
What Others Should KnowDo not buy this crossbow. I fell for the discount price and rebate. The cable frayed after 40 shots, had to repair at my own expense. Then while hunting, one of the limbs cracked. This was after only 50 shots fired. Of course this stuff happens after 30 days and Pyramyd air will no longer accept a return. Killer Instinct sent a replacement crossbow but they made me pay the return shipping of the broken bow. I asked for a refund however they would only agree to a replacement. So now I have a brand new crossbow in a box that I can not trust is safe to use. I have seen many other Fatal X reviews with cracked limbs. So I am sure this replacement bow will have the same problems, and I am now stuck with a $400 piece of garbage.
Light weight, fast, accurate. Quite an upgrade from my old crossbow. 395 feet per second according to my chronograph.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe scope that comes in the package is serviceable but leaves a lot to be desired. Make the stock and grip fully compatible with AR accessories. Some kind of cover for the crank mechanism would also be nice, there are three pins sticking out on either side that catch on clothing and gear.
What Others Should KnowI generally use the rope cocker rather than the crank because it is much faster. The crank is nice if you're trying to reload in a tree stand.

What Others Should KnowI liked the appearance of the crossbow, however one of the limbs splintered upon cocking it -THE FIRST TIME- that's why I'm leaving a one star review. Unfortunately my wife purchased this for a gift and I didn't get it until Pyramyd Air's 30 day return warranty had expired, so I'm stuck waiting for Killer Instinct to get it repaired!
Wicked compact and easy to pull with rope sled if needed. Very accurate.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe bolts way not what I expected (the KI HYP 20 in). The first bolt inserted down rail and the fletching came loose. The other 2 hit all over the place. It should also come with a better scope, the one that comes with it is okay....but with this crossbow, it needs a better scope. imo.

Wow. Pyramid AIR customer service is AWESOME! I bought a killer instinct Fatal X that had a cable problem (not Pyramids problem). I contacted customer service and talked to Henry. He was VERY helpful and got me into a new replacement. The crossbow came the next day and so far I am EXTREMELY HAPPY.
