If you're a 10-meter shooter but don't want to spend a lot of money for an accurate gun, the Tech Force TF79 is for you! It's a competition air rifle with world-class performance at an unbelievably low price. We tested a TF79 with RWS R10 Match pellets and got a group of 0.244 inches (center-to-center).

The Tech Force 79 has been praised for its outstanding accuracy. Although not yet classified by the NRA as either a sporter or a competition rifle, it has the features that qualify it for both classifications. The rifle comes with a sleek competition-style stock, a peep sight and interchangeable front sight inserts. It's powered by two 12-gram CO2 cartridges and comes with a hose and quick-disconnect fitting to connect to a bulk-fill CO2 tank. The rifle also comes with standard open sights and is grooved for mounting a scope.

Things I liked:

Very comfortable and balanced shooting off hand. Fairly hansome wood. The detent micro-adjust and eye cup on the rear sight is nice. The trigger is adjustable for pull length and second stage tension. It gets over 100 full power shots with the twin 12g CO2 design and also has a remote tank adapter and line included.

Things I would have changed:

The manual is vague in some important areas, such as trigger adjustment. The internal machine work is fairly rough, but par for the cost and nothing that can't be polished up at home by a compentent airsmith.

What others should know:

Bottom line; A steal for under $200. Buy it! Now, this is my second TF-79. The first one had a much smoother trigger and nice crisp rear sight adjustment compared to #2, but it had a much bigger issue that randomly sent the pellet anywhere but where I was aiming. Now, I purchased this gun based on the original claim of a 0.150" CtoC group capability. After 250 shots at 10m, I had completely sprayed the 8x10" 6 spot target, amazingly hitting only ONE bullseye! So judging by the inconsistancy of issues between these two guns, I'd rate the quality control as "poor". (But how much can we really expect for such a low price?) The saving grace is that Pyramid promptly replaced my first TF-79 at no cost. So far, so good with TF#2. After shooting 1000+ pellets, it has served up a best 5 shot 10m group of 0.148" CtoC with R10 Heavy Match. My average group with it is around 0.260" and normally I don't see any land outside the group hole.

Things I liked:

Great finish, wood is nice and clean. Comfortable to hold and well balanced. Accuracy is superb when used with high grade pellets such as RWS R-10's or HN finale match. Bulk fill adapter is a nice bonus. You can't beat the price for a starter 10 meter rifle.

Things I would have changed:

The screw cap for the CO2 is a little cramped to screw on being so close to the barrel, but the use of the bulk fill option will take care of this problem. Adjustable buttpad would be nice.

What others should know:

Keep in mind this is an entry level 10 meter rifle so it isn't fair to compare it to some of the higher end competition rifles. I have 2 of these rifles and one definately shoots better than the other. For $179 you really can't loose.

Things I liked:

I'm a trigger freak, and this gun has a good one, I did a little adjustment, thanks to some great Videos on U-Tube and away we went! I mounted a scope and had some trouble with the adjustment range, had to shim the back mount to get the point of impact correct.( helped by Pyramid Air Tech support). Great after sales support and service.

Things I would have changed:

Not impressed with the Diopter sight, the adjustments were not smooth at all, but not using anyway. The CO2 end cap was very hard to get on and screw down, hope it is easier the 2nd time around, I will put a little Permatex anti seize lube on the threads, which are very fine and I would think easy to cross thread. I am switching to bulk fill anyway.

What others should know:

Great Value , great shooting and super trigger.
