Description
If you're a 10-meter shooter but don't want to spend a lot of money for an accurate gun, the Tech Force TF79 is for you! It's a competition air rifle with world-class performance at an unbelievably low price. We tested a TF79 with RWS R10 Match pellets and got a group of 0.244 inches (center-to-center).
The Tech Force 79 has been praised for its outstanding accuracy. Although not yet classified by the NRA as either a sporter or a competition rifle, it has the features that qualify it for both classifications. The rifle comes with a sleek competition-style stock, a peep sight and interchangeable front sight inserts. It's powered by two 12-gram CO2 cartridges and comes with a hose and quick-disconnect fitting to connect to a bulk-fill CO2 tank. The rifle also comes with standard open sights and is grooved for mounting a scope.

Great finish, wood is nice and clean. Comfortable to hold and well balanced. Accuracy is superb when used with high grade pellets such as RWS R-10's or HN finale match. Bulk fill adapter is a nice bonus. You can't beat the price for a starter 10 meter rifle.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe screw cap for the CO2 is a little cramped to screw on being so close to the barrel, but the use of the bulk fill option will take care of this problem. Adjustable buttpad would be nice.
What Others Should KnowKeep in mind this is an entry level 10 meter rifle so it isn't fair to compare it to some of the higher end competition rifles. I have 2 of these rifles and one definately shoots better than the other. For $179 you really can't loose.
I'm a trigger freak, and this gun has a good one, I did a little adjustment, thanks to some great Videos on U-Tube and away we went! I mounted a scope and had some trouble with the adjustment range, had to shim the back mount to get the point of impact correct.( helped by Pyramid Air Tech support). Great after sales support and service.
Things I Would Have ChangedNot impressed with the Diopter sight, the adjustments were not smooth at all, but not using anyway. The CO2 end cap was very hard to get on and screw down, hope it is easier the 2nd time around, I will put a little Permatex anti seize lube on the threads, which are very fine and I would think easy to cross thread. I am switching to bulk fill anyway.
What Others Should KnowGreat Value , great shooting and super trigger.
I like the price, the fit and feel of the gun. The accuracy is great with a clean barrel,it will shoot one hole groups at ten meters. It is an inexpensive rifle and you get more than you pay for, I was,am very happy with this rifle. But I am only shooting in the basement and backyard.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would change the trigger, it could be better.
What Others Should KnowYou will get 60 to 70 shots from the 2 , 12 gram co2 cartridges.
Thius is a nice heavy rifle, all steel and wood. The stock is nicely finished, and for me, an average sized adult, it fits quite well. This is a gun that will outshoot you unless you are very good indeed. The rifle is very consistent and accurate and will shoot tight groups. On a good day, I can consistently hit the 8-10 area on the 10 meter rifle target.. I was pleasantly surprised how good the TF79 looks and performs.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe finish of the stock is a little rough in the area where the vent holes are cut out, but this does not affect performance or overall appearance.
What Others Should KnowSince the butt is not adjustable, a tall person with long arms might find this rifle a bit uncomfortable to shoot, you might have to add some spacers.
Nice finish on both metal and wood. Extreme accuracy. Advertises 600 FPS. I chronographed a heavy pellet at 510FPS, so I have no doubt that it will do 600. Very quiet. Light weight. Before I plunked down my hard earned cash I told the people at Pyramyd that I would not hesitate to send it back if it was not as advertised. They said "no problem" It's great to know you are dealing with honest folks. Wouldn't send it back for the world. Great value
Things I Would Have ChangedThe sight adjustment printings are in chinese (up down right left ). Not that big of a deal, but they might want to include English letters. This rifle is advertised at one location as having a two stage adjustable trigger. At another location it says it has a single stage adjustable trigger. The trigger from the factory is great, but iI could not find any adjustments on it at all. Pyramyd might want to look at that and change it. That could be a cause of somebody returning the rifle.
What Others Should KnowI love it. You just can't beat the value!
This rifle is easy to load and is very accurate,
Things I Would Have ChangedI would like to have a user manual that is complete and uses fps data (not mm). I would have it Sporter Class compatible by lowering the speed to 600 fps or less
What Others Should KnowThis rifle shoots with the best accuracy using 7.8 gr. .177 pellets.

Very comfortable and balanced shooting off hand. Fairly hansome wood. The detent micro-adjust and eye cup on the rear sight is nice. The trigger is adjustable for pull length and second stage tension. It gets over 100 full power shots with the twin 12g CO2 design and also has a remote tank adapter and line included.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe manual is vague in some important areas, such as trigger adjustment. The internal machine work is fairly rough, but par for the cost and nothing that can't be polished up at home by a compentent airsmith.
What Others Should KnowBottom line; A steal for under $200. Buy it!
Now, this is my second TF-79. The first one had a much smoother trigger and nice crisp rear sight adjustment compared to #2, but it had a much bigger issue that randomly sent the pellet anywhere but where I was aiming. Now, I purchased this gun based on the original claim of a 0.150" CtoC group capability. After 250 shots at 10m, I had completely sprayed the 8x10" 6 spot target, amazingly hitting only ONE bullseye! So judging by the inconsistancy of issues between these two guns, I'd rate the quality control as "poor". (But how much can we really expect for such a low price?) The saving grace is that Pyramid promptly replaced my first TF-79 at no cost. So far, so good with TF#2. After shooting 1000+ pellets, it has served up a best 5 shot 10m group of 0.148" CtoC with R10 Heavy Match. My average group with it is around 0.260" and normally I don't see any land outside the group hole.
