.22-cal. Ruger Impact Max Air Rifle by Umarex
Looking for an affordable, value-packed gas-piston air rifle kit that's equally at home in the back yard plinking, dispatching nuisance wildlife or humanely taking small game? If so, this might be just the kit for you.
Introducing the Ruger Impact Max from Umarex in .22 caliber. Boasting an ambidextrous hardwood stock, rifled steel barrel and breakbarrel action, this gas-piston operated powerhouse slings alloy pellets downrange at up to 1050 fps and led ammo at speeds of up to 875 fps, Umarex reports.
The Impact Max is outfitted with patented Umarex technologies like their SilencAir sound moderator, Lockdown all-metal custom mount, TNT (turbo Nitrogen Technology) gas piston, and integrated Airgun Shock Reinforcement (ASR) to help soften the effects of recoil on airgun optics. It comes equipped with a Picatinny mounting rail, plus ships with a 4-32 scope and mounts. So it's ready to rule the range right out of the box.

Things I liked: Awesome begginer rifle. I bought this at walmart brand new and this gun still performs accurately after 2yrs. Accuracy, power and performance!
Things I would have changed: Multishor
What others should know: Keep a little silicone oil on moving parts. Use silicone oil only. If you use petrolium based oil you will ruin this gun. I use silicone oil on all my guns even the co2 guns.
Things I liked: Once it was well broken in it became very quiet! The shot cycle is gentle for a big gas piston gun. I'm getting about 740 fps with 14.3 gr. fodder. That's a solid 17 foot pounds of energy. Mine is accurate enough for head shots on squirrels to 35 yards with 14.3 gr. CPDUM but it shoots even better with Benjamin Discovery HP's. A powerful, accurate, sub $150.00 air rifle that shoots cheap easily available ammo? Heck yeah!
Things I would have changed: Replace the trigger adjustment screw with a longer one so that it actually works. Ditch the ugly and imprecise iron sights. They don't work and the gun looks better without them. The scope is better than a lot of people think but this gun needs a scope with a mildot reticle to compensate for the howitzer like trajectory. The gun is accurate enough out to fifty yards but the trajectory makes precise ranging critical. The trigger is heavy but seems to be improving with age. Sling swivels would be nice
What others should know: I bought this gun to replace a 25 year old B-3 that finally expired. My last .22 air rifle was a Crosman 1400 back in the 80's so this is quite a technological leap for me. From my some what antiquated perspective Chinese air guns have made an amazing improvement in the last 25 years! Those of you with fine European air rifles may sneer but I'm here to tell you these guns are a tremendous improvement over what we had 30 years ago! (Think Slavia 618 or a BSA Meteor). At 35 yards she needs lots of hold over so get a mildot scope and make a range card for different pellets. I bought this gun for target practice but it is so good it has gotten me hunting with an air rifle again!
