Adjustable trigger. Nice sights included. Smooth cocking. Plenty of shots per CO2 cartridge (60+). Well built. Grips are plastic, but not bad.
Things I would have changed:The trigger has very short, slightly rough first stage. I wish the first stage was adjustable so I could lighten it up. It's not horrendous, but it's not good either. Second stage is adjustable and breaks cleanly. I wish the trigger were wider. I added an aftermarket shoe, which helped substantially.
What others should know:This is a nice, solid, quality gun, and I am very happy with it.
The trigger is better than I thought it would be based on some of the reviews I've read, but the first stage is a little rough.
The gun is a little louder than I would like, but not over the line.
Accuracy seems good, but I really need to mount a scope on it to test accuracy properly.
My gun likes RWS Superdomes. Crosman CPL's are equally accurate, but do not load smoothly.
I mounted the sights forward of the breech to get sharper sight alignment with the rear sight. There is still plenty of sight radius (about 10" -- the distance from rear sight to front) to do so and maintain accuracy.

This is a very inexpensive pistol for its accuracy. The sights are very nice, but my fifty-year-old eyes are crying for a red-dot. I find the wide rear sight to be especially nice when shooting in low light--a friend's rifle with no clearance around the front sight in the sight picture is almost impossible to aim when I can still clearly see the sight picture in the Williams sight. The balance of the pistol is great. And it does look uber-cool! I bought this gun to practice for shooting my .22 rimfire target pistol. I can shoot indoors, in the yard, etc, and the cost is less than half the cost of the .22 rimfire, including CO2 carts! I figure 500 rounds of RWS basic and enough CO2 to fire 'em costs me about $10.
Things I would have changed:GRIPS!! The factory grips are awful. After shooting 300+ rounds the first day I had the gun, I have a raw spot on the top of my right thumb first knuckle where the sharp edge of the rear of the frame hangs below the top of the grips. The grips are smaller than the frame all the way around, and, as everyone notes, cannot be made secure and tight. They look awful, too. Can't Pyramid find someone to make a custom grip and market it? I checked out the RB grips recommended by others--their grips do not seem to cover the sharp edge of the back of the frame, either. I'd like a grip that covers the upper back of the frame entirely. Trigger: Nothing is tight. The trigger (mine is the new steel trigger) moves (and sits) sideways in the frame. Surprisingly, the trigger is fairly crisp, with just a bit of creep, but still too heavy at the lightest setting. The "new" trigger is still far too thin for comfort and control.
What others should know:You will want better grips--and you may have to make them.
I made a nice 3/8" wide bronze trigger "shoe" from a bronze bushing and secured it to the trigger with epoxy. After a couple hours of shaping and polishing, it looks great and really improves the feel of the skinny trigger. I also "bedded" the pins that hold the trigger and sear to take some of the side play out, but will need to shim and/or bush the trigger to get it to set in the center of the trigger guard. Polishing the mating surfaces of the trigger and sear helped reduce the trigger creep, but getting rid of all that play is the only thing that will really improve the action.

This gun is awesome! I shoot 10 meter air pistol with 4-H and took 2nd place with the 2300s. I lost to a FWB gun that was ten times the price. The accuracy is perfect. It is such a solid, well made gun that I think you could pound nails with the thing and not hurt the accuracy.
Things I would have changed:Grips, the ambi's are bad and way too narrow. very hard to be consistent with them. I bought customs. Other than that, nothing
What others should know:It is almost too heavy to shoot one handed, the girl with the FWB said it was "crazy heavy". If you aren't very muscular you won't be able to hold it steady.

Excellent target gun for the serious shooter!
Things I would have changed:Grips! c'mon Crosman !For the money put wooden grips & some light engrave work!At least offer some upgrades! You would increase sales by enough margin to do this!Need an advisor?

It is a well made pistol with good features. The ballance is good and it handles well. The sights excellent and easy to adjust .
Things I would have changed:The trigger, it is too narrow and the cheap plastic grips are unacceptable. For a gun in this price range it should have wood grips and a proper trigger. The manual is very brief with no information on cleaning.
What others should know:The 2300T is a better buy - $100 less and just as accurate.

Besides the accuracy, I have a shoulder problem and am very pleased with the weight of the pistol. Very manageable for both me and my wife.
Things I would have changed:Better grips, at least as an option.

I just got my 2300s model pistol 1/21/10 ,It is a nice pistol ,It is very accurate, the williams sight is high quality ...and is fun to shoot...
Things I would have changed:I would have put wooden grips on it...
What others should know:When I got the gun... I went through all the screws on the outside of the gun and put some blue loctite on them...some were a bit loose and the front sight needed adjusting to be in the center...The trigger seemed decent...I didnt notice any thing bad about it...I also thought it was very easy to load...The williams sight was mounted in no time. I was able to get it on the dovetail straight . there is a little trick to it...(I mounted it by keeping the top screw just barely snugged , until I got the side allen screws on) The gun is medium loud as far as airguns go,I thought it would louder than it is ...The neighbors will know you are shooting but it shouldnt bother them...I would compare the quality of this gun with other airguns...It seems very nice to me ...

Accurate. Definitely accurate for price. Seems best at highest power (adjustable). Good number of shots per CO2 cartridge (usually at least 60). Pellets all load fine: RWS wadcutters, crossman domed, etc. Included sights are quite good.
Things I would have changed:Plastic grips wiggle around even when tight. Trigger creeps a bit and is not the best for target. (Adjustment is possible.)
What others should know:Often, the first shot after changing a CO2 cartridge doesn't fire. Rather front-heavy. Moderately loud (will hear it in next room through walls.)

Accuracy:use scope and with rest I can mostly put 5 shots group within 1.5 pellet diametters by RWS Hobby in 10 meter. Most parts are metal except the grip. The rear sight works well. Usually I can get 80 shots per CO2 Powerlet at low power and 65 shots at high power which is around 510 FPS at 68 degree.
Things I would have changed:The wood grip instead plastic. The trigger could be lighter and crispy.
What others should know:This pistol can not be used for 10m off hand target practice since the poor trigger, otherwise it is great for anything you want becauce its accuacy. So far I found the RWS hobby is the best pellet except the few expensive match ones.

The cost to accuracy ratio. Once dialed in the groups were extremley small. Many time less than 2 pellet diameters with 5 shots.
Things I would have changed:The trigger is "springy". Even at minimal spring tension there is a lot of mech anical friction, it just doesn't feel correct. Like anything else I am sure one can get use to it. The special site that comes with it is not good for free hand for me. I would get a small scope if this is used as hobby.
What others should know:I found on the Crossman web site the capability to custom make the same pistol with nice wood handles for not much more (They do not sell them loose). As this was for my daughter this purchase was very adequate. Maybe Pyramid Air could assist with such a purchase.

This is a rreally great little pistol that you can't beat for the price. When you hold it, it has a nice solid feel and great balance not to mention the accuracy. I really liked the adjustable trigger also along with the adjustable velocity.
Things I would have changed:The issue of the handles creeping was mentioned by a previous reviewer. No matter how tight you tighten the screws you cannot stop the grip from moving. The trigger has the same problem and it's not just on mine because my friend got the same pistol for his daughter and it has the same problem. When you squeeze the trigger it has a small amount of travel before it gets to the point of firing, and also creaks.

After mentioning my 2300S in my IZH61 review, I thought I should do the same for the 2300 This is a quality pistol that perform perfectly right out of the box. The walther barrel is superb as is the Williams sight.Just as an experiment I mounted a Daisy Laser under the barrel to help my old eyes on longer shots and it helped. I "ve been a shooter & collector for 70 of my 85 years and need all the help I can get.
Things I would have changed:Wouldn't change a thing. Have had no problem with the trigger, there is plenty of adjustments.Crosman does a excellent job and for what you get, in my estimation it is a excellent value.
What others should know:In regard to pellets I have used Gamo,Crosman and Beeman so far with excellent results. I t seems happiest digesting Crosmans so why change. Now can we get Pyramyd to stock some walnut grips for the Crosman 2300, 2240 and 1377. We need their excellent service!!

Accuracy and adjustability of pressure and trigger.
Things I would have changed:Plastic grips - they always have some movement.
What others should know:I used a rubber based cement to keep the grips in place after adjusting the trigger. i am an older guy (66), wear glasses and shoot target at 25 ft..
With this gun, I typically shoot in the 8 to 10 region free standing.

This pistol rocks!. For the dollars spent you can't beat the value it offers. Between the barrel and the sights the accuracy is amazing. I believe this pistol could rival the mega buck pistols you see at competions if you would tweek the trigger somewhat. You can't go wrong with this one!!!
Things I would have changed:To obtain greater accuracy a trigger job would be benificial only if you need the ultimate in accuracy, because this pistol is tops in that category already! Maybe some wood grips would enhance feel to the next level!
What others should know:Loading a pellet will take a few trys to get the hang of it ! Also I did not chrono the pellet speed but I would say the speed is greater than that stated.......little rockets! Buy it you won't regret it....

Accuracy and that's about it.
Things I would have changed:Grips...trigger...sights. I had to put a scope on this gun because the dovetailing on the top of this gun is canted so bad. After reading various reviews on this gun it seems that the canted dovetailing is a factory defect that Crosman refuses to address.
What others should know:Unless you want to spend $200 on a pistol that will never be "right" I would buy something else. Everytime I look at this gun and others have said the same thing the canted dovetail just makes you say somethings not right with this gun.

This pistol is dead on accurate. The L.W. Barrel is worth the extra money , and has sent my accuracy & enjoyment of air gun shooting to extreamly high levels. It's built well & has perfect balance. I think the FPS is HIGHER then stated because my pellets fire like rockets!!!
What others should know:I actually had this pistol custom made thru Crosman. It's the exact barrel, muzzle , and breech. I had a different rear sight added , a trigger shoe , and wood Cocobolo grips added also. This pistol does indeed give you a new found higher level of accuracy. I have the 2300-T which is an excellent accurate pistol, however the 2300S with the L.W barrel is even more accurate. I suggest you get the Gamo Rocker pellet trap with this pistol. The trap is super high grade & perfect in every way. I was nailing all the targets on the trap with THIS PISTOL @ 25 feet and 2 of them are penny size , two are quarter , and the center one about the size of a half dollar. The special barrel is the reason I can nail the penny size & up. That is something that I could not do before buying this gun. Buy the 2300 S--- the Gamo rocker pellet trap-- and tons of Beeman H&N pellets and last but not least 2-3 25 ct boxes of co2.

The sights are easy to do incremental adjustments with. The sight picture is excellent. The trigger is smooth and predictable and I actually think it has a pretty good feel without the addition of a shoe. The accuracy is exceptional.
Things I would have changed:Nothing.
What others should know:The plastic grips really put this gun at a very good price point. At some later date, I will treat myself and get some wooden grips, but as is, this gun is an exceptional value. I've been shooting for 44 years and when I took this $200 pellet gun out of the box and instantly started putting up incredible groups I was really pleased with the value that Crosman offers with the 2300S.

All in all it's a really great pistol. Trigger function, rear sights and CO-2 pressure are all minutely adjustable. It's very well make, super accurate and a pleasure to shoot. The Williams rear sight is great.
Things I would have changed:As others have mentioned, the stamped trigger really doesn't fit with the quality of the rest of the pistol. I added a trigger shoe, which helps. The travel adjuster for the trigger extends from the trigger guard. After cutting my finger on it about a dozen times, I removed it. The front site is really narrow in relation to the notch of the rear sight. There's no point in having precise adjustability for the rear sight, when the front sight is so narrow. I find the breach opening to be really small, but not much different than other airguns. I'm not really sure what the muzzle weight is for. It looks cool, but I'd rather just have a good front sight. Oh, yeah, replacing the plastic grips with a nice set of wood ones really dresses things up.
What others should know:Its a really great air pistol that gets better and better with use. I'm really happy with it.

I am getting 80+ shots per cylinder. It is reasonably accurate. I am hitting consistantly in the 9 and 10 rings at 10 meters from bench rest at an olympic 10 meter pistol target. It has only 250 pellets through it. The Williams sight is a work of art. I had no problem with it being level on the breech.
Things I would have changed:The grips are where Crossman saved money. I was aware of this and will replace them. The trigger is not too bad, but the pistol deserves a better one.
What others should know:When I recieved the pistol, the bolt would not open. I could have sent it back. but took it apart instead. I really didn't find anything wrong, I believe the tolerances were just very tight. I cleaned it up, lubed it, and put it back together. It was a bit sticky for about 250 shots. It has broken in nicely now. Loading is an aquired skill, Ok when you figure it out.

This Pistol has EXCELLENT accuracy. Thats it's number one point of interest for Me. The Williams rear sight is also very very good. It gets plenty of shots from a CO2 ctg.Even more than advertized.I also like the user friendly adjustable features. Great Pistol.
Things I would have changed:The grips need to be a little larger for Me.I believe I will order custom grips for it because of this. I also already ordered a trigger shoe because the pistol just does not feel natural in My hand. This may be just nitpicking. But the front sight needs to be a smidge wider and more defined. Along with the already great rear sight,Would make for a better sight picture overall. These three minor changes would make this an Outstanding piece right out of the box.
What others should know:To get the trigger pull down to the advertized 1 lb. I had to do a bit of extra gunsmithing work. But an easy fix after a bit of thought.
