Barrel is excellent. The Williams sights are outstanding. After-Market parts, modifications, online schematics, and tutorial support are practically limitless. This is a great gun if you like tinkering, taking things apart, and swapping out parts. Once you set this up to your tastes and change a few things, this is a really fun, reliably accurate pistol
Things I Would Have ChangedI replaced the stock trigger sear with a good light two-stage sear. And the trigger. The break is heavy, sloppy and inconsistent out of the box. Once you change the trigger/sear, you can drop the trigger pull down a reliable and smooth 1+ or so pound pull. I also replaced the rear tube "power adjuster" with a solid metal cap. With a solid rear tube cap, you can use put your thumb on it for leverage to open and charge the bolt. Makes it easier to shoot, particularly from a chair. Looks better too. I changed the bolt, which was a bit short and slippery for me. I swapped the plastic grips, which are well-designed and comfortable, with some grips I made from Walnut.
What Others Should KnowHow loud is it? It sounds like a nail gun.
High-quality barrel and rear sight.
Things I Would Have ChangedA CO2 pistol at this price point really should offer a much better trigger. The stock trigger is persistently gritty, with no predictable take-up to speak of. A poor trigger makes shooting tight groups difficult.
excellent sights, trigger is quite acceptable. accurate.
Things I Would Have Changedthe centerline of the bolt appears to be slightly higher than that of the bore- the pellets tip to one side or the other and wont chamber as often as not.
Good value. In my cool basement I got 180 shots from one CO2 cartridge. Great Williams rear sight. Great customer service from Crosman. This is the first CO2 air gun I have ever owned. Purchased for my wife who would find a pump pistol difficult to use. I have not adjusted the power adjustment yet. I will check the fps when it warms up and maybe adjust the power. As shipped it punches paper accurately in my basement. The adjustable trigger is a nice feature. It has been adjusted to the lightest level. I have not measured the trigger pull yet.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe trigger is not good. My IZH 46 M has an excellent trigger and my $30 Beeman P17 has a much better trigger pull. The Crosman sear is a crudely stamped piece of metal. It is a very simple single stage trigger. Crosman could have made it better. The loading ramp is rough which makes loading wad cutter pellets difficult.
What Others Should KnowIt is not a match quality air pistol but is fun to shoot. With its poor trigger a cheaper model Crosman CO2 pistol may be a better choice.
I have found that after loading a wad cutter pellet I point the muzzle down and the pellet drops into the chamber followed by the bolt.
I picked the 2300S up as a backyard plinker not expecting much. Man was I surprised!! Granted I modified it somewhat with an aftermarket rolling trigger(awesome btw) a set of walnut grips and a good trigger polish. FUN! Isnt the word for this pistol. The quality is shocking for the price. I plan a couple more bling mods but other than that I could shoot it all day.
Things I Would Have ChangedA better trigger out of the gate, but as is very decent. I love love the Williams sight , I painted the front post bright red for contrast
What Others Should KnowThis 2300S With the 10 inch LW barrel does not like RWS R 10 match 7.0 grain pellets at all. They are a big struggle getting into the barrel. So far the only pellets that work perfectly with zero issues is the Crossman Premier match grade wadcutter they mate beautifully
I really like the sights on this pistol. It is used for IHMSA competition and quality sights are very important.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt would be nice to have a selection of different grips available. But, I realize at this price point, not all options can be done.
What Others Should KnowIf you are considering a CO2 pistol I feel this one is a very good place to start.
Accuracy rivals my "real" pistols for target pactice
Things I Would Have ChangedLoading the pellet is sometimes difficult but the greatness of this gun outweighs any negative.
Well balanced and accurate. It feels like a natural extension of your arm and points well. It is constructed very well and lacks plastic features normally found on guns of this price range.
Things I Would Have ChangedOnly two things come to mind. One, I would like to see a trigger spring not as stiff as the one provided. When adjusted as per manuals instruction the best I was able to accomplish was three pounds of trigger pull, not the one to four pounds listed. Compression of the spring does not work so you either need to upgrade the spring or cut a link from the spring. Two, would be the Williams sight included. No matter what I tried the sight has a slight tilt to the left. It does not affect accuracy, it's only aestetic.
What Others Should KnowFor those who like to "dress up" their pistol there are numerous resources that allow you to do just that. It is totally possible to shoot one hole groups with this pistol.
Good value for a youth group club pistol. We had the rear sight dialed in by the youth and hitting 9 & 10 within 20 minutes from a braced position. Easy to adjust trigger pull.
Things I Would Have ChangedWe use wadcutter pellets and they hang up some on the loading ramp. My large fingers have trouble getting the pellet into the ramp, but the youth have no problem.

Well balanced and very accurate after I polished the trigger assembly.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowGet over 100 shot per 12gram cartridge. Off a rest at 11 yards 1 hole groups very doable, JSB 8.4 with 4.52 head size having fun.
