Gamo Swarm Maxxim 10 shot GEN2 When I got this rifle unboxed it reminded me of something like an elephant gun just because of the big barrel and the length of the gun! But it's not at all oversized. I love the weight, the low profile and length of this air rifle. It feels good in your hands. It is only 46 inches overall length and it's 5.5 lbs. The fluted barrel gives it a nice look as well, I like where the safety is located in front of the 3 stage trigger. This rifle has a lot of firepower while being pin point accurate. Pyramid Air has the price on this air rifle at an affordable price. I think this will be my new go to rifle I'm really impressed at the quality of this air gun and the fact that it came with a decent 3-9-40mm scope. I don't think you would be disappointed if you was to buy this rifle. I bought this one in .177caliber and I'm already thinking about buying my next Gamo rifle in the .22 magnum.
Things I would have changed:I have the scope back as far as it will let me go. There is a pin on the bottom of this scope that goes into a hole on the dovetail rail (it's part of their Recoil Reducing Rail) so the scope doesn't get jarred around from recoil. The scope covers won't fit correctly as for the scope sits so close to the 10shot magazine mechanism keeping it from fitting correctly. Not a huge deal breaker though as mine when not in use will be stored away from any dust or debri to be on it. You can always get a different scope.
What others should know:This is a great air rifle at a very reasonable price, and its very accurate. Just remember the scope is so close to the magazine mechanism you can't put the scope covers on unless you buy a shorter one. The scope that comes with it is 12.5 inches long so you could get one at 12" and the covers would fit with no problem.

Wow, what a cool air rifle. I'm a newbie to break barrel and PCP air guns. I had the usual Daisy, Crosman along with my Sheridan .20 cal air rifles as a Kid. Been a hunter for 50 years. So I figured to try something different to hunt squirrels with. So purchased the Gamo Swarm Maxxin for Pyramyd Arms. First off, great company!!! Now to the rifle. Ergonomics are perfect. To me it's one of those guns when you pickup and shoulder it, you know that this thing should shoot good. It cocks very easy. The included scope works well for the intended 30-40 yard range of the rifle and was easy to sight in. You can always upgrade the scope. But no need to get started. It appears to be accurate at 35 yards. Using Norma's 15.9 gr Domed pellets I was getting inch groups just lean against a tree. I'm into hunting accuracy, not bench accuracy. So your mileage my vary. Build quality looks pretty good and should last for awhile for my intended use of hunting.
Things I would have changed:For what it costs, nothing
What others should know:The 10 shot magazine and easy cocking makes for a good repeater. It just might become my favorite squirrel gun. It's quite, accurate and feels good shooting. I didn't mess with the trigger since it seems fine right out of the box. Any how for about $200 bucks in 2024 it appears to be a fine "hunting" air rifle.

This Gamo Maxxim Gen 2 in .177 is a Tac driver, wow does it hit hard. I'm an experienced breakbarel shooter and let me say this air rifle is very decent for the price, good quality and feels awesome in your hands. The stock is awesome and the CAT trigger is really smooth. I have mounted a Hammers 4-1240 AO Magnum Springer rated. My son hit a squirrel at 66 yards, heart lung shot, it went through the squirrel at that distance, absolutely amazing and accurate. So far no problems with the pellets loading, at the same time I always make sure it's loading properly before shooting. I don't rush the loading process, I listen for the click it makes after the pellet loads and then make sure the number changes. A tip before you shoot your air rifle after purchase, clean the barrel before you start shooting. There is a lot of protective grease in the barrel for long storage protection. Have fun and safe shooting!
Things I would have changed:Gamo, it's time to start including your better quality Magnum Springer Scopes with AO Mil-Dot, this is what we are all ending up with after we purchase your amazing product. It would be nice for once to purchase a full package air rifle and not have to buy an extra scope when one comes with one. Put your BSA scopes in the box please.
What others should know:It's an amazing air rifle. First timers, be patient, watch some videos, practice, practice and in time you will begin to enjoy these amazing air rifles. Have fun and be safe.

Comes with nice adjustable scope , within 3 clicks of height and right and left adjustments was hitting in the red zone of target. Powerful, at 125 feet tears thru 4 cardboard walls., Multi shot magazine works great when using GAMO Pellets.will take Crossman but you need to push in with a pen tip, Customer Service is the best in the business , any problems they resolved immediately
Things I would have changed:scope position is fixed because of pin sticking out the bottom , bracket needs to be place 1/4 inch further back towards rifle Can only remove and replace cap for keeping lens clean and safe when cocking barrel Hidden chamber for extra magazine in( hallow out end ) of hand grip is 100% useless does not hold extra magazine safe., opens and magazine falls out without realizing it.
What others should know:I've had to call customer service 3 time , 2 emails ,Gamo has the very best in Customer Service , that alone will maker me a repeat customer

scope mounts securely , powerful hits target hard
Things I would have changed:Scope sits too close to automatic feeder can only remove or replace scope guard when rifle is in cocked position , cap on extra magazine holder is 100% useless , does not stay closed , 3 days old and already lost one magazine while target shooting in my yards
What others should know:Don't use extra magazine holder in of rifle grip , has no lock position

The balance of the rifle is very good. The ten shot magazine reliably loads a pellet each time. And the scope is adequate for this type of shooting. I can easily shoot a 1.5 inch target at 25 yards with several 10X bulls eyes.
Things I would have changed:I did not like the trigger. It was too difficult to adjust and it has a long pull to fire. I would replace the trigger.

The accuracy, adult stock size, cocking effort, and fast reapeat shots.
Things I would have changed:After 2 years...The scope. The magazine. The trigger adustment parts.
What others should know:The scope gave up the ghost after a couple of months, which I replaced with a Hawke 4X. The magazine is starting to eat itself, as the spring seems to have worn, and it's not centering with the bore. If cock it too fast it's eating the plastic around the holes. I guess I need a new MAG(S)? The Trigger..SUCKS! No better than the cheap Chinese Crosmans they sold at ..Big box Mart store(s) I Needed to go the local hardware store and get some longer screws to adjust it properly for trigger take up, and pull weight. Other than that COOL RIFLE!

Gun cocks easily and works flawlessly. Trigger is ok, safety works well. Finish on stock looks sturdy. There is no need for a "recoil pad" on a .22 airgun, but it adheres to my shoulder nicely. Fit and finish of rifle are of firearm quality. The people (Ruth) at Pyramid are helpful and pleasant. We need more people on the planet like them.
Things I would have changed:Needs a better scope. The one they sent was blurry. I called Gamo, and they sent another scope, no questions asked. GREAT SERVICE! Second scope was just as blurry, so I spent money on a good scope by reusing the scope mount, and am happy.
What others should know:Buy a good scope for this good rifle.

Very good handling, good weight. Shots penetrates metal cookie tin and went into the wood about 1/4 inch at 13 yards. Scope is good and sighted in at about 25yd, so shoot very accurate right out of the box. Magazine works fine with different sizes of pellets about 100 shots tested so far
Things I would have changed:Much heavier too crock as expected..., I am not very strong but also not week, like average, however I tried to do rapid fire and after 6 shots, I start to exhausted, and last shot I tried 4 times finally got it crocked... also little bit long to carrying for hunting. And pellets velocity little below my expectation as well as lower than some reviews I had read--seems they got 100fps or so higher than mine
What others should know:Tested velocity with chrony as below(set-up about half yard in the front of muzzle):
Crosman Premier HP and Crosman Premier Magnum (14.3gr): Both average about 650-660 fps
JSB Ultra Domed:(13.43 gr): averge about 680 fps
H&N Barracuda Green (12.96 gr): average about 710fps
Crosman Premier Pointed: average of 680fps
Crosman Premier Pirhana (14.3gr), Crosman Destroyer 14.3gr, Crosman Premier Copper Magnum 14.4gr and H&N Field Target 5.54 (14.66gr): average about 630fps
H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 18.52gr and Crosman PowerShot Red Flight 16.7gr: average about 570fps, but this 2 hits very hard and have a huge exit wound on the metal tin as mentioned above.
Overall this is a good gun,

Bought this rifle with starlings and sparrows in mind. I needed a gun that could be reloaded quickly, had a gas ram, and a one piece scope mount. This rifle seemed to be the best fit. I bought a .22 caliber and am shooting Gamo rocket pellets with great success. Recoil is quite light considering its power making it less hold sensitive than some of the others. I'm glad I purchased the .22 because it seem to be more stable than .177 in a wider range of conditions, and impact is audible...LOL
Things I would have changed:Would like to see another magazine in the box, after all, there is a place in the rifle to store one. The scope is OK at best. It's functional and seems to hold zero. I'm not going to complain about it because at $209 you are getting a lot. I do plan to upgrade to a Hawke optic in the future but I knew that going in.
What others should know:Sparrows and starlings inside of 50 yards are in serious trouble. Gamo Swarm Maxxim + rocket pellets = feathers floating away on the lofty spring winds.

The gun is light weight, accurate and the 10 shot magazine works as advertised.
Things I would have changed:Since this gun was purchased for my 15 year old granddaughter, I wish the safety would engage automatically with every cock.
What others should know:I fitted the gun with a 3x9 UTG scope. On my granddaughters first outing she took 14 starlings and a pigeon at a local farm, with shots being in the 20 to 40 yard range. She is extremely pleased with the gun, as am I.
