    Things I liked:

Light weight. Multi-shot. Easy to operate. Not too loud for back yard shooting. Perfect for an old guy (me),or a youngster.

    Things I would have changed:

    Make a left hand version.

    What others should know:

Have only had for two weeks and I am not sorry I made this purchase. The bolt action is not as smooth as my 22 long rifle firearm is. But I haven't had any hangups at all. No problems to spoil my fun.

    Things I liked:

Accuracy is great, sights are sweet, lots of shots per tank I didn't count but a lot, in kept co2 in gun over weeks without leaking down, extra clips are cheap, put eight shots thru one ragged hole at 25 yards with open sights

    Things I would have changed:

This gun is great right out of box! Just add co2 and pellets.

    What others should know:

I bought this rifle for my 11 year old daughter, who has a tough time shooting it off hand. She still hit a bird at the top of our tv tower 30 yards away off hand. I was thinking on modifying the stock shorter that might help. 17 cal jsb pellets

    Things I liked:

Bought this for my wife who could not break the barrel of the Benjamin Trail NP. She loves it. Had previously purchased a GAMO Extreme CO2 - what a waste and disappointment - broke twice in less than 10 shots - first time warranty repair - second time, chucked it as appeared to be the same issue - dry firing with no CO2. With the 850 - at 25 yards and the scope from the GAMO - she consistently puts 8 shots in a 1-1/2" diameter ring as is - out of the box less than 100 shots.

    Things I would have changed:

Less expensive attachment to use smaller CO2 cartridges. More positive feel for the clip to rotate when cocking to line up the pellet for the next shot

    What others should know:

With our ears, seems to be the same sound volume as the Benjamin Trail NP when shooting in our backyard. No neighbors have complained, yet.

the most accurate co2 gun i have ever layed my hands on. the trigger is pretty good after i tuned it to my likings.

    Things I would have changed:

i dont really like the aperance of the sights. i was gonna use a scope annyways so i took them off, looks way betther without.

    What others should know:

ust try it, the best co2 gun there is. the most fun anyways.

    Things I liked:

Accurate shooter, great feel with plenty of power.

    Things I would have changed:

The rotary magazine does not always line up with the chamber which limits the bolt from going forward. Also when you pull the bolt back it can grab a pellet and drop it into the trigger housing causing the gun not to operate. I think this is a major design flaw. They need to have the rotary magazine click into place to prevent this problem.

    What others should know:

After only two months of use we had to send this gun back to the manufacturer because the bolt kept grabbing the pellets and dropping them into the trigger housing causing the gun not to operate. This is a major design flaw but Umarex\Hammerli does not cover it under their warranty. They call this operator error but the issue with this gun is that it is hard to tell when the magazine is lined up with the chamber and if it is not properly lined up the bolt can grab the pellet when you pull it back making the gun useless and in need of repair as the pellets will drop into the trigger housing. The cost for repair is $60 shipping (total both ways) and $54 for Umarex to fix the gun. If the gun does not go bang when you pull the trigger it is not a good gun.

    Things I liked:

nice feel, best co2 repeater out there. Magazine is easy to use, trigger is decent.

    Things I would have changed:

Make the lead on the barrel easier for the pellets to load. I had many times the pellets did not want to load. Meaning I had difficulty pushing the bolt home. THe rifle cycled great with no pellets in it. THe is a lot of risitance in the last 1/4" "aprox" of pushing the bolt home.

    What others should know:

I used Crossman Premier Pellets and JSB 14.3 gr pellets. I had a harder time pushing the bolt closed with Crossman Premiers than the JSBs. Both however gave more risitance than I would like. If yo want to use both scope and Iron sites you will need Extra Hig mounts with windage adjustments. I was not overly impressed with accuraccy with the pellets used. I would see about a 1" group at 30yrds and 1/2 at 18yrds. Maybe different pellets would do better. Accurate enough for me to snipe pests IMO.

    Things I liked:

I have had my Hammerli 850 for a while now and can say that it is absolutely awesome! The fit and finish is amazing. The magazine works well; it is easy to load and I have never ever had a jam. The fps numbers do not tell the whole story, this gun hits hard! It is also quite accurate. The 898 gram cartridge is a real plus.

    Things I would have changed:

Offer a wood stock! I would consider it an upgrade if I were able to buy a wooden stock for this gun.

    What others should know:

This gun is really heavy to lug through the woods. Buy multiple magazines! If you are careful you can drill a hole in the front stock cap and mount a bipod and/or a sling mount. I use both. I also recommend the one piece scope mount.

    Things I liked:

My 850 .22 arrived today and I am blown away (pun intended). I own over 30 air pistols and air rifles (not to mention more than a dozen firearms) and the 850 quickly rose into my top 5 favorites. Here's why: The all-around general feel of the weapon is superb. It looks, acts and feels like a quality product. And it is. The best OEM trigger of any of my 30+ air guns. I actually had an NG (negligent discharge) as I was bringing the rifle up to my shoulder to fire (still hit the target, but I wasn't ready to fire). I am very used to hard triggers on these <$1000 guns, but the 850 trigger is very light and crisp. It is a true joy to shoot. The action appears to be all metal, aside from parts of the safety knob and the magazine is partially plastic, too. The rest, however, is all high quality, well-painted steel. The bolt operates and slides smoothly. I haven't had a jam or issue yet with 100 shots fired so far. The magazine is easy enough to load and insert into the weapon. The sights are great! They are glow in the dark and provide great ease in identifying your target. Accuracy was spot-on, right out of the box, at 50'. This is my first purchase involving 88g AirSource rifles. I'm pleased with it. A high shot count with consistent fps.

    Things I would have changed:

I personally can't stand synthetic stocks. Yes, they have their advantages, but give me a good old wooden stock any day. Had the 850 been offered with a wood stock variant, I would have gladly spent $100 more on it. You can adapt a wooden stock to this, but you often lose the AirSource cover functionality. The sights sit pretty high on the barrel. This is the first rifle I've ever found, I think, that would benefit from a cheek riser for me. Folks are complaining that the butt stock feels hollow and flimsy. Some have filled theirs with expanding foam from the hardware store. I may end up doing exactly that. A little more weight on the rear wouldn't hurt anything, anyhow. The safety engages after every shot. It's a politically correct, unnecessary, pain in the butt. I'm sure that can be modded out, but it's a frustrating "feature" to have out of the box. I don't expect any manufacturer to offer both left- and right-hand bolt action pellet rifles, but it'd be nice. If I could get this with a left-hand bolt, I'd pay $1000 for it.

    What others should know:

Despite my CONS, which are more personal grievances and peeves than anything, you should 100% buy this rifle and now. If you are looking for a quality, recoil-less, extremely accurate bolt action repeater, you need not look any further.

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Fantastic gun. All the positive reviews are right on the money -- this thing is hard to put down once you get it humming by correct pellet selection, etc. Love the action (which does indeed like to be worked "briskly" as BB once said), the trigger, the super-visible and easier adjustable fiber optic sights... the fit and finish, the ease of screwing in the 88g C02 (I'm looking at you, Crosman Nightstalker) and the tack-drivin' accuracy. Some folks complain about the plastic feel and general lightness of the rifle, but I *like* that it's so easy to swing around. It's plastic, yes, but it feels good in the hands and you can carry it all day long. Top-shelf stuff, you won't be disappointed.

    Things I would have changed:

Alas, she's not perfect. I have the .22, and I have to say if I bought it again it would be in .177 caliber. I think early on there may have been some quality control issues as if you look online you can find a fair number of reviews critical of .22 pellets not holding firm in the magazine -- well, I think they addressed that by tightening the tolerances and perhaps the little pellet-gripping o-ring... and on my rifle, that mechanism is problematic -- it makes the gun *super* pellet fussy. Basically, it's very difficult to load wadcutter style pellets -- you need to "seat" every pellet with a tool, whereas pointed and domed pellets for the most part just click right in. You have to be careful on not choosing pellets that are too tall (Polymags) and will bind the action, and general consensus seems to be mid-weight domes or pointed pellets is the way to go. The correct pellets are not only easier to seat in the mag, but will also cycle better -- you'll notice it, moving the bolt, when everything clicking the way it should. I'm still on the hunt for some wadcutters that'll work well since this is a fantastic indoor gun and is a joy to punch paper with. The stock "cap" that covers the C02 could indeed be a bit more robust, but I don't think it's as bad as some folks make it out to be. I also like the idea of the 12g C02 adapter, but it's far too expensive for what you get.

    What others should know:

Minor gripes aside, this gun is a beaut. Reserve judgement on it until you get the right pellets rolling, then see just how tough it is to put down before you've run through the C02. It's good enough that I'm considering a second, this one in .177 caliber...

    Things I liked:

Accuracy, reliability, plenty of power for plinking and small game and pests, and extremely consistent shot strings (8fps average deviation and 23fps extreme spread over 20 shots in stock form.)

    Things I would have changed:

Easier to find parts should one need them (hammer springs weaken and compress after around 6K shots.)

    What others should know:

Added a .225" shim to the hammer spring and removed lawyer spring so hammer gets full impact and took the rifle from 540fps (weakened spring) to 678fps (better than when new) with 14.66grn 5.53mm ftt's and its still very accurate. <9 fpe to 14.9 fpe after shim. Shots per co2 dropped to a lil fewer than stock, but the power increase was a nice trade off.

    Things I would have changed:

The rear of the hollow stock is a little cheap feeling so I'll be filling it with the expansion foam like so many others have done. That's all I would change.

Easy to load the Co2 cannister. Very light to hold. No discernible recoil. Once the sights are set, accuracy with the iron sights is pretty good at 25 feet.

    Things I would have changed:

Make the front site easier to adjust.

    What others should know:

I have had two of these and returned both. The bolt mechanims in both rifles jammed. There was no pellet stuck in the gun. I checked this. I find that this part of the rifle is not well made and did not want to try my luck with a third one. I will just be happy with my single shot Beeman R9.

This rifle shoots great! I have fired about 350 rounds so far and love the gun. It is very well made and shoots dead on accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

The gun is a little heavy. A solid stock would be nice but it would add even more weight.

    Things I liked:

Apparently, my experience with this gun is not the norm. I tried 2 different guns in 22 cal and the absolute most fps was a single 570 out of one of them and 571 out of the other. Mostly 300 - 400 fps. PA techs said it was probably due to the crazy hot weather we were having. May have been, but I shot both guns in temps anywhere from 68 degrees to 100 degrees with the same results.

    Things I would have changed:

Just wish it had worked out. I really thought I wanted one of these...

    What others should know:

Like I said earlier, according to other reviews and what I have read on airgunning forums, my experience is not a normal one. Others LOVE this gun and it has a good reputation.

    Things I liked:

Ease of loading/removing the CO2 container, whether the 82 ounce or the double stacked two 12 ounce caplets in the Umerex adapter, this is a fast air gun to service; compared to my precharged air gun, the effort is minimal, although at a cost of reduced power. Accuracy is exceptional and the gun is lighter than comparable spring loaded air guns.

    Things I would have changed:

Some means of keeping track of remaining pressure in the CO2 source, say a "low" pressure indicator when the CO2 source drops below optimal.

    What others should know:

Don't rely on pricing in the Pyramyd brochure, as I paid $37 more than the advertised price.
