Things I liked:

I got my HW50s during a sale and had it dropped shipped to John Thomas in PA for a tune. What I got is the most perfect air rifle I've owned to date. So far I've owned an HW30, 77, and 80 - all fine rifles... but the HW50s is just right for me. I'm big guy shooting recreationally on several acres, plinking 10-30m with open sights and this gun suits me better than any other springer or PCP yet. Finish and appearance is top-notch but I do recommend a tune job on any of these nicer rifles. Mine is smooth and moderate powered, not too heavy or clumsy, but not "too" light like an HW30. It's still stout enough not to be a kid's rifle. But not a beast like the field target models....

Things I would have changed:

I've had a couple of tuned and a couple of stock HWs now and much prefer the tuned ones ;-p Out of the box the ones I've had needed a lot of shooting to smooth out.

What others should know:

I think most adult males can cock this rifle all day long (put the butt on your thigh) and it delivers enough umph for backyard pesting in .177. Mine likes JSB Exact 8.4gr.

Things I liked:

The butt stock length was a bit long for me, It fit my hubby better. I like the length of his Diana 48 better, but that gun is too heavy for me. This one is much lighter. The wood stock has some great checkering too! The cocking effort took a little getting used to, but was fine once I did. The sights that it came were nice, with different inserts for the globe, and a rotating choice of 4 notches on the rear leaf. Though I thought it kind odd having a leaf rear/w/globe front. The trigger is phenomenally good, and accuracy was wonderful, UNTIL...

Things I would have changed:

The gun may be too light! The wooden stock design needs changing, and/or beefing up. After about 80-100 rds, group size opened up considerably, and upon inspection my hubby found all the screws had loosened up, and the front of the stock on both sides in front of the barrel pivot were cracking. Also, the auto safety is odd for a right handed shooter. it releases left to right. Good for a lefty, but I would have preferred it right to left.

What others should know:

Pyramid air exchanged it for another one, free, but the replacement had buggered up screws, especially the front sight screw. It looked like someone used budget wedge blade screwdrivers instead of more proper hollow ground type screwdriver bits. Whether we got a REMAN, or someone new at the factory was being trained we don't know It was definitely not put together well. It too was sent back, but for a refund. All told we were less than impressed and we're moving on to a different brand.

Fit and finish, accuracy right out of the box, the excellent trigger, lightweight, very nice barrel, great balance, and just a beautiful gun.

    Things I would have changed:

So far cant think of a thing

    What others should know:

You will get rid or closet lesser break barrel air rifles after getting this gun. Mine is in .22 and it hits hard. You get what you pay for and the quality will just wow you.

A beautiful stock, fantastic craftsmanship! I am very impressed with it so far. I haven't been able to shoot much...yet. It's been raining almost ever since I got it. I will update this review when I get a chance to try it out fully.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing.

    What others should know:

The cocking effort feels a bit higher than I thought it would be but I feel that will change with time. Thanks a lot for this.

High quality, great fit and finish, very accurate. Excellent trigger makes it easy to shoot tight groups. Great feel for quick offhand shots.

    Things I would have changed:

It would be nice to have it offered without sights for those who want to mount a scope.

    Things I liked:

Everything sales said it would be. Powerful and accurate rifle is an excellent shooter. The craftsmanship is undeniable.

    Things I would have changed:

I don't believe it's really necessary for the safety to automatically engage when the gun is cocked.

    What others should know:

I handle it ok. The 24 pound cocking pressure doesn't sound like much but I can see where some may have a bit of a struggle after a bit of shooting.

    Things I liked:

This rifle is lightweight and shoulders very well. I was looking for a no frills, accurate .22 rifle, not very hold sensitive, for target shooting and plinking off-hand with iron sights. I got the rifle in perfect condition, everything being as described by most reviewers. At 30 yards and after adjusting the windage quickly I was able to hit the 3 in spinning target every time despite the dieseling and using the only pellets I had on hand (14.3 gr hollow point Crossman). BTW I'm an amateur plinker with no prior hunting or off hand shooting experience.

    Things I would have changed:

There is nothing that I would change, at least for the purpose I got the rifle. The rifle came with 2 loose screws ( the ones holding the trigger), which was a bit odd for a German made rifle, but I just tightened them with flat headed screwdriver and corrected that issue. The rifle makes a little noise when fired, so a neighbor may get curious if close by. From what I read tuning can reduce the noise, I may look to do that in the future if I feel the need.

    What others should know:

I bought this rifle to challenge myself and learn new skills. I like the build, accuracy, and classic look of the rifle. I got what most reviewers already outlined about the rifle so I am very happy with my purchase.

    Things I liked:

Can't belive this is a referb. Everthing is absolute excellent. Except for the stock wood not being the nicest grain. I cant find anything wrong with it. Not hard to cock as some have stated. Not too heavy like some of the beasts out there. Action smooth as silk. All screws tight!. Getting less than dime sized groups at 10 meters with H&N FTT 8.64 grain 4.52 size after 30 rnds. Still learning the hold.

    Things I would have changed:

Put safety on right side for operation. For the price Weihrauch charges for these guns a walnut stock would be nicer.

    What others should know:

Clean the barrel good before you shoot it. Shoot about 15 rounds and clean it again. Groups really shrink. For us older shooters 70 ish. The Eyepal aperatures for your glasses are so much better for the iron sights. Realy needs a williams peep sight. Searching for the one with Target nobs.

    Things I liked:

The quality feel of the gun and most of all the shooting accuracy. Compact, easy to cock and shoot with a great trigger and groups well. I haven't felt to the need to try and adjust the trigger it from the factory settings after about 300 rounds

    Things I would have changed:

I wish the dovetail for scope mounting was a little deeper. I worry about rings or mounts not having enough gripping surface. Barrel droop !

    What others should know:

I'm a little disappointed about the amount of barrel droop in this gun. Don't know if it's this way in all but could have been better. I've only had a chance to mount a scope and zero for 10 - 12 meters but initial attempt just to get an idea where rifle was hitting seemed to indicate +3 inches low. I ordered and installed a UTG drooper rail which is supposed to provide 10" of offset at 30 meters and the gun with a Hawke 2 -7 x 32 AO scope was still hitting ~ 3 inches low. I needed to shim the rear scope ring another 0.025" in order to hit point of aim with the scope centered in it's adjustment range. I have two cheap Crosman break barrels that didn't require any shimming or drooper rail to shoot closer to center of scope adjustment range.

    Things I liked:

Compact, well made, and extremely accurate. The fit and finish is excellent with beautiful bluing and stock. The trigger is well known and respected for a reason. Back off the adjuster about 1.5 turns and you're at around 1 pound trigger pull. Recoil is short, sharp, and accompanied by a bit of spring noise. Nothing excessive but it would certainly benefit from a tune. With it's size, weight, and accuracy, it would make an excellent hunting or beginner field target rifle.

    Things I would have changed:

Cocking effort is heavy considering the power this rifle produces. That said, your average adult should have no difficulty with it.

    What others should know:

It doesn't like a very forward grip on the fore stock but doesn't especially care what you do with your trigger hand. Be sure to clean the barrel, mine wouldn't group until I did. It seems to prefer mid weight pellets and will average 11FPE. I've had good results with H&N Excite pointed. You can get .5-.75" groups at 25 yards no problem, with the right hold and a clean barrel.

    Things I liked:

Easily the most accurate break barrel I own and it isn't even broken in yet. Light weight, compact, excellent sights, and little if any hold sensitivity. Pellets touching shooting open sights at 20 yards sitting and within 3/4 inch offhand. Slings most pellets at 11FPE including 8.64gr H&N's however, it doesn't seem to care for Crosman Premiers (8.9FPE). Build quality is excellent with tight tolerances and a beautiful finish. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of grain the is present in the stock.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing

    What others should know:

Cocking effort is more than advertised and could be a problem for smaller teens but shouldn't be an issue for the average adult.

Materials; fit and finish; light weight; quick handling characteristics; power; accuracy; short shot cycle

    Things I would have changed:

The cocking effort is perfectly manageable; however, it is higher than expected.

    What others should know:

This is an excellent air gun. I have owned several Weihrauchs, but this one might just be my favorite. I love the small size, quick handling characteristics, and power. 12 FPE is more than adequate for the shooting that I do. I fitted my HW50s with a Williams FP-AG-TK peep sight and I couldn't be happier.

Classy, rock-solid, beautiful, simple, easy to shoot, lightweight, nice butt. Wonderful with open sites. I'm using a Daisy rear peep site and groups are almost as good as with a scope. Shoots surprisingly quick. Accurate-of course.

    Things I would have changed:

I wish I had bought this rifle when it was cheaper in the past but it is what it is.

    What others should know:

Don't make the mistake that I made. Don't buy 20 cheap guns. Just buy 2 or 3 classic guns. You cannot go wrong with Walther and Weihrauch.

    Things I liked:

Beautiful stock, accurate, medium power, ease of cocking. Very pleased overall.

    Things I would have changed:

The cocking effort at the final phase of the cocking cycle is unusually hard as the safety engages. Own and tested several break barrel rifles, this one is different just something that you get used to. Be very careful to not let go of the barrel before the safety clicks in or the barrel will snap back.

    What others should know:

PA describes the grip as right handed. Mine is ambidextrous. Mine did not include front sight inserts. I replaced the front sight with a fiber optic sight. IMPORTANT, do not let go of the barrel before the safety clicks in as mentioned above.

Rifle is very well made, quality which I expect from Weihrauch, compliments My Beeman R-7, very accurate out of box, shipped and packed safely. Very happy with purchase.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like to see the HW30; stocked. The HW50 would compliment that rifle.

    What others should know:

Worth the price for a quality air rifle, cocking requires more effort then R7, but isnt overbearing.

    5.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

It's lightweight so its easy to use. It's pretty easy to cock, which is important to an old man(me). It's got plenty of power for such a small gun - it shoots RWS Hobby's at average 879 fps - even faster than Pyramydair's results with the same pellet. Has a solid sound when it fires, and it's accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

Two inch longer barrel and provide it with factory installed sling mounts because this gun is a lightweight hunter. Make it a high quality sling mount with a ring that is silver soldered on and is placed just shy of midway up the barrel. (just like the African hunting rifles)

    What others should know:

I almost didn't buy it, but this is a beautiful air rifle and I have no regrets whatsoever for getting it. It's got plenty of power and cocks pretty easily. I bought this gun to hunt Iguanas in South Florida and it performed real good. Smashing power at the short distances the Iguanas were. I shot it over 400 times on the first Iguana hunt. It's accurate. And it sounds good. So good that other people have asked me about it - what kind of gun is it, etc. You won't be disappoint with this baby. Same size as my R7s. Decent wood - nicely shaped, beautiful blued steel, nice sights, lightweight, powerful, ready for a scope, accurate - what more could you ask for?

    Things I liked:

Accurate right out of the box. I bought it to replace a Diana 34 that I purchased in February. I really liked everything about the 34 except for its weight, which became a problem when firing it while standing. A left shoulder issue made this very painful. One of the great things about the HW 50S is its light weight. On the 34, which has 19 inch barrel, much of the weight is forward, putting more strain on my shoulder. The HW 50S is lighter to start with and its shorter barrel puts far less strain on my shoulder. It is also far easier to cock, something that will grow in importance for this 73 YO shooter. Fortunately, my best friend jumped on my offer to sell him my 34. I also saved some weight by purchasing a UTG Bug Buster 3-12 x 32 scope, which is over 8 ounces lighter than the UTG 3-9 x 40 AO scope on my 34. I highly recommend this combination...its the perfect size for the shorter HW 50S. Kudos to Greg at PA for helping me through this purchase. Great advice.

    Things I would have changed:

    Not a thing.

    What others should know:

Great rifle. Its not broken in yet but I am already getting 5 shot groups that can be covered with a quarter at 20 yards.
