10 of 39 CenterPoint Adventure Class 3-9x40AO Rifle Reviews
The CenterPoint 3-9x40 AO strikes me as a product made to meet a price point rather than meet certain performance standards. In researching this review, I found it for sale from $50 to $150. That's an oddly wide price range, and I think you can do better than the CenterPoint at the upper end of that range (more about that later).
Things I Would Have ChangedWhether or not you like this scope may be based on how much you paid for it. If price was your main concern and you are just doing back-yard plinking, you may be satisfied with the CenterPoint. At under, say, $70 it gets the job done. If you are willing to spend more than $70 for this scope, I think you can do better. The scope seems serviceable enough for casual shooting. The optics are not as clear as I would like, but they do transmit a decent image as long as there is enough ambient light. In dim light the image disappears, and the lit reticle did not seem to help. I liked the mil-dot reticle and the caps on the windage and elevation adjustments. I did not try water or shock tests.
What Others Should KnowFor about twice the CeterPoint's lowest price (but still within its price range), I much prefer the UTG/Leapers 3-12x44AO Accushot SWAT scope. (Check out my review.)
perfect for hunting and my marauder!

What Others Should Knownone
Nice and bright in low artificial lighting. I like the fact that it will focus under 7yds.The old scopes I have couldn't go under 20 yards.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe lighted reticle is nice but too brigh at the lowest settings for night or very low lighting. Add the the sun shade like the Leapers scope. I think they might come from the factory.
What Others Should KnowMore eye relief and a lower setting for the reticle.
Good quality, very clear. Mil dot
What Others Should KnowVery close to Leapers, infact sun shade of Leapers fits
It works great! Like it should. Seems to of good quality for the money.
Adjustable objective, Red/Green dual illuminated reticle
Things I Would Have ChangedFlip open lens covers are useless with AO adjustment, normal lens covers would be an improvement. More eye relief ~ 4 in.
What Others Should KnowNot a bad value. Seems to hold adjustments well. Holding up very well on a high powered springer.
Picture is unbelievably clear which makes it very easy to find your range, illuminated reticle stays crisp even at the brightest levels, locking and zero reset turrets are a big plus. Mine came with lens caps but I'll talk about those later Came with a chart to find range with the mil-dots!!
Things I Would Have ChangedThe hinge on the front lens cap touched my receiver when it was turned so it couldn't be adjusted all the way. Not really the scope to blame, just get high mounts when you order this scope. The caps come right off so it's no problem
What Others Should KnowSlapped this badboy into the weavers on my Trail XL and had it dialed in after about 15 pellets, and it's stayed dialed in so it can handle the ultra magnum recoil. The chart provided is awesome, the X axis is target size in inches, and Y axis is how many mildots across/tall/etc the target is at 9x. Match em up and that's your distance. It's too bad I can't use the lens caps but on the other hand I prefer my scope as close to the gun as possible. This is a killer deal, a scope of this quality could easily go for as much as double what they're asking
Very clear when sighting in. Love the lock screws. Placed on a RWS D52 have been able to shoot sub 1/2 inch groups.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowThis is a high quality scope, without the quality price. Wind-age and elevation adjustments are easy to calculate and adjust for accuracy.
Image clarity is so clear and crisp that now I don't have to use my binoculars to see the pellet impact on the target. In my opinion, it is quality product at a reasonable price. I haven't been able to use to green or the red illumination on the cross hairs but they also look very sharp and clear. Accuracy with my Gamo Whisper went from very good to excellent, with most of the shots one over the other.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe front of the scope is so close to my rifle front sight, that I had to elimininate the use of the front lens cover (protector), really, not a big issued at all.
What Others Should KnowI am very, but very satisfied with my Center Point illuminated 3x9x40. It can not compare to the scope that came with my rifle. What I have learned is that whenever possible, I will buy future rifles without a scope. I will then buy a telescope that will cover my shooting needs and expectations. Will I buy in the future another Center Point scope, the answer is yes.
