The only problem was that wooden training tools can rot, crack, chip or splinter and could not be used in all weather conditions. Cold Steels solution to these dilemmas was to design a line of synthetic polymer substitutes. Low in cost and unaffected by all but the most extreme temperatures, they are waterproof, weatherproof and astonishingly durable.

I've had mine for a good long while and I love it's overall size and weight. The ball at the end is heaviest part of it but works really well for handling.
Nice trainer. I like the weight and feel. The only thing I would chang is the tip could be a bit more pointed.
Very solidly made. Bought a pair from Blades Canada, as coldsteel.com would not ship to Canada. Excellent for training indoors with low ceilings. Blades Canada shipped very promptly, and they arrived reasonably quickly given the distance from BC. Cold Steel's longwr trainers have negative reviews due to point of balance and weight - neither are an issue with this model.
In all honesty you get what you paid for. Solid, single mold trainer no rubber parts that fatigue and break prematurely. Wears at the same pace as other trainers/shields. Balance is a little off (about 5" above the hilt). But, the biggest demerit is that CS doesn't have an actual Gladius in their catalog. So, what are you training for?
