Excellent piece. Unfortunately, mine shipped without the set scree to secure the head. Working on a replacement.
So I took up backpacking and light camping in the backwoods some years ago and picked up this axe as a bit of a joke/beater for messing about with. Always dragged it with me on a spare ring on my pack next to my main wood splitting axe. Well, it finally came through on my last trip out, my lucky and dependable main axe's head rattled loose off its handle and the wedge flipped off into the woods. Cold rain was coming and I still needed to split some wood so I was desperate. I wouldn't say use it all the time but this little tomahawk actually did the job and some of splitting smaller logs while still holding up.
It's a good buy. My only criticism is that the screw holding the head on only goes half way in the haft. So when the blade/spike hits a hard target enough and the axe head will get loose

I like the Cold Steel hickory handled tomahawks better that the other hi tech versions. It is made fron good 1055 steel and if the hickory handle breaks which it is highly unlikely to do you can just buy a new one for a few dollars. I see no reason to spend more money unnecessarily. And you can buy 3 or 4of these. I think it's a good investment.
